Have you tried entering the phone number without any special characters?

Instead of entering the number like (XXX) XXX-XXXX, just enter ten digits with nothing else. I just got a generic TextFree number to test it and Telegram accepted it for me.

So how active is the Telegram group? Is Telegram similar to IRC or a Skype group message?

Well, I don't really know what IRCs are like since I've never been in one. Telegram is a little like Skype but also different. You don't do voice calls but you can leave voice messages. It's predominately text messages though. And you can change the background of the chat to suit yourself. You can also have custom stickers (kinda like emojis but you can use any picture) to express emotions. Below is a screengrab of it at full screen size with a Sasha sticker visible. I generally use it at a smaller size though which makes the side bar with the names less big.

As to how active the chat is, well you normally get a pawful of posts each day. It's not a constant barrage like Skype was but people generally talk if you poke them.

It's generally cleaner and more stable than Skype is, which is a big part of the appeal.

Infinite battery life does seem appealing, but I don't think there's an option to change font styling on there

I got on a few times, but after losing the numbers i borrowed online and realizing the pain of sharing phone numbers with other people with your e-mail, i decided to retire on Telegram until i get a cellphone someday.

It was sweet while it lasted. Catch me on Skype and Discord!

Hey, I think you can get a cheap one, SMS are enough to activate a Telegram account, I think. I don't remember if Telegram required an active "main" phone.

I did an experiment with Telegram a few months back. Apparently if you get a Google Voice account, you can use that as a phone number to sign into Telegram.

I was planning on doing one regarding the likes of games (Housepets X DiVE) but since I don't have a proper phone number, I guess a Housepets! Discord should be a option.

You don't need a phone to use Discord like you would need a phone to use Telegram so you could get a Discord. However the forum already has one so you don't need to make another one. Ask one of the mods about joining if you are interested.

So... the Housepets X DiVE discord that revolves around forum users arranging online games is kosher. Is it?

I meant that there was a general Housepets! Discord server that was created and has many people posting on. If you want to create your own Discord for your stories I don't see why you couldn't.

Right, but the intent is for the forum goers to arrange games over the internet so they can battle each other among other features. But of course I'll have to get a crack team of staff to enforce the rules of the fourms in addition to rules added for the discord since violent games are a thing and I'm much ado about nothing about the likes of doom and duke as long as it's kept to the games and not in real life.

I'll see if I can afford the nitro before going through with it.

If you are able to do that then it would be lovely! I don't think the Discord has a suggestion where people can arrange to play games with each other online so that could be cool!
