Yes, Res is a buff/debuff character. A Green Mage. Also, I still hold to the mittens. We need more input.

But yeah, I'm not completely biased to either side, here, but I remember we had some kind of battle-testing demo that had Peanut's, Grape's, and Tarot's weapons, yet Max had none (I think it was unintentional, but that was a while ago). When Max was battling the higher-level dummies, I realized he was still a decent fighter with his bare-~~hands~~paws, so perhaps he could have no weapons-- for the beginning at least-- then acquire some mittens or an improbable weapon, such as mittens or a (non-magic) book:

Res is a debuffer for the group against the mice. Like a Time Mage. Thoguh a very powerful one. I think as long as they have healing items for the mall, they'll be fine. =3

I just think the idea of a caster/supporter not having a weapon is odd compared to a fighter like Kevin or Jess, but i'm willing to go with it. Considering it's just one chapter that's fine.

Kitten Mittens is actually a neat idea for an accessory. I wonder if dogs can wear them?

Final Fantasy V (GBA port, specifically) was the first game I encountered that had a character class that didn't use weapons. Needless to say, I ended up not using that class much at all. BTW, I was suggesting his gloves as a weapon, so he wouldn't be weaponless.

We could use this as a base. Not sure what to call it, as "Kitten Mittens" was what I was intending to call Res'. Though I could name his as simply "Mittens" in order to use Kitten Mittens on this.

Since it's about caster/supporter, why not go with the typical magical / ancient tome or artefacts like that fancy new crystal tablet Peanuts girlfriend uses? (am really bad with names, even after reading the whole comic within two weeks).

Ok. I still ask for considerateness that I refuse to read through all the pages of the dev-thread and yet attempt to through my ideas and thoughts into it nonetheless.

So that cancels out this specific tablet from tarot as a weapon, but what about these things in general? A glove was suggested as a weapon class, I see no point in refusing other concepts also related to wizzards, supporters, or the comic.
Thus I ask for what does stand against the idea?

TAILS_OF_BABYLON_HOUSEPETS_DATABANK.BATTHIS GETS CONSISTENT UPDATES, I made this little program here to keep us from having to do that, it doesn't have weapons but certainly helps when you want to know about the characters. Unfortunately I didn't add a weapons layout to it.

No, that would be powershell or VBS, and if I am going to do that, then yes I'd rather resort back to HTML or simply call the image from an external program.

Actually, Joey does have kunai, which are used as throwing knives these days.

Maybe "Mittens for Kittens".

Anyways, remember, everyone, that this isn't a typical RPG. We've already had enough eclectic itemry, so yet another ancient-themed weapon set would upset the overall aesthetic balance of the game, in my opinion.

Well, Nathaniel, Tarot, and nearly every other playable pet, has their weapon type decided and finalized.

I went ahead and made this to show the weapon types for all characters planned to be playable. Just ignore the last three, those were things I added in myself that have apparently not gotten adequate reason.

...oy, I spent way too long making this thing. I was able to compile most of it from the files we already scaled, but it's a bit obvious where I did my own scaling and image gathering. Only starting weapons are shown. If they're missing a weapon image, it's because they have not been drawn yet, and still waiting on word for whether Res would upgrade to mittens. Oh yeah, Keene's weapon is out of date. FishPreferred made a more correct design some time ago, but I don't have that image at this point in time.

Yeah, I had fun designing Bailey's weapons. You know, looking over the chart again, it almost looks like one of those old special moves list from an old fighting game.

I only recall that one-time characters would have two at max. If they're there for one chapter, then their last weapon would appear in their introductory chapter, I think.

Finally, real progress!

Here we have a bokken, a tanto, the Kitten Mittens, and fist wraps. I contemplated a more glove-like fist wrap, but ended with these. I put HMA as a brand as a pretty bad play on MMA.

Jess fights without any weapons, just bare fists with a high base attack stat. But she gets "fist wraps" as a weapon "upgrade".

And almost done. I just need to make Satau's weapons. So, quick question; how should I represent them? Should I make the ethereal sword and shield that we've seen, or should I represent it with, I don't know, a green orb? And I do want to give him an upgrade, how should that look?

I don't know why it's taken me so long to give my opinion on the kitten mittens, I honestly don't know, but how exactly are they effective? I mean, Res doesn't physically attack? It's not like the weapons increase the power of buffs and debuffs, right?

Wait, are you suggesting that Res basically have a non-functioning Attack option in the battle menu? As for usability, Undertale had gloves that went into the weapon slot. While it varies from franchise to franchise, gloves can either fit the role of attack weapon or armor. Max does have a glove-like weapon, it's not hard to justify.

We went with the mittens in the end as far as i know in terms of choosing a appropriate weapon. The weapons can have special effects on them, still, without any increased attack or defense.

I'm going to give the mittens a increased TP charge rate or reduce the amount of MP Res uses, though only small. They will allow Res to cast his support spells more often as he's fighting.

If it were me I would use his regular weapon sprites from the comic about half way through, the green orb at the beginning and powerful shadow weapons or something for the end.

He only has two weapons; his green weapons as in the comic, and I was thinking of red for an upgrade, since he's getting some form of help from Kitsune. I was asking how they should be portrayed in the menu. His sword doesn't have a type of hilt, so it'd be just a sliver, so should I do that, or a mass of colored energy? It'd look like an orb if that route is taken.
