My brother's into weightlifting and has recently been bulking up so I got him protein shakes for Christmas.
When he asked for a hint for his present I told him it was gains.

It's midnight here already. Merry Christmas to those who celebrate it, and happy holidays for the rest of us :
Fun fact: Christmas night is also a full moon night, and tonight's moon has to be one of the most brightest I've seen all year.

Re: Chat Thread 42: The Answer To Life, The Universe and Eve
I think my ride-on lawnmower is haunted. The switch turning the blade on and off keeps turning itself off. And no, that's not the safety feature. The safety that turns the blade off when it hits something is under the seat and is a big lever you have to pull to reset. The switch that turns itself off is a toggle a bit like the picture below and it's fairly firm to push so it wouldn't be hit easily. It's by my right hip but lower down than the seat so there's no chance of my elbow banging it and it switches forwards and backwards so sliding sideways onto it wouldn't toggle it. So I can't figure out how it was turning itself off. Weird...

Happy New Year!
Re: Chat Thread 42: The Answer To Life, The Universe and Eve
The problem is that we aren't going to get many fireworks like the previous year.
Last year's new year party there was barely half dozen fireworks out there.
This Christmas we did get barely a quarter dozen.
I think were not going to have a fireworks show out there.

Re: Chat Thread 42: The Answer To Life, The Universe and Eve
Oh! I was wrong
There were six dozens fireworks out!
I never seen that quantity of fireworks since years ago
Too bad that we didn't bring fireworks but we enjoyed seeing other's fireworks.
Also I explained to my uncle that I want to learn to draw.
He started to explain how the art is a medium for express things. He stuck explaining that over and over with iterations of the explanation. Every time I asked him a question he answered with an answer that was relevant to nothing but how the art is a medium to express.

Is just that the switch is broken/rusty. Try to replace it or send the lawnmower to fix.Hlaoroo wrote:The switch turning the blade on and off keeps turning itself off.

On the bright side, people are feeling better with you around. I know it can be stressful on those kind of jobs, but at least you are helping people

Re: Chat Thread 42: The Answer To Life, The Universe and Eve
So among my Christmas presents was a Roomba, to help keep my place clean. Finally got around to setting it up, watched it scuttle around, then set it to clean in the morning while I slept. May not have been the best idea - it turns out my dog (a 75-lb. Rott mix, mind you) is utterly terrified of the thing. I get woken up just after 6am by my dog pawing at my door. I get her on the couch (she likes to sleep on it and it's out of the way), sit down with her for a little bit, figured I'd calmed her down, then went back to my room. Not two minutes later, she's back right outside the door again. So I bring her back to the couch again, this time refusing to leave outside a 5 in. radius of my leg, and proceed to sit there through the entire cleaning cycle. Only when the thing shuts down does she stay on the couch and allow me to sleep back in my own room again.
I gotta figure out how to get her to get over it. She's worth it, though. <3

Re: Chat Thread 42: The Answer To Life, The Universe and Eve
Make the machine not scary. Teach her that it's a good thing by giving her treats as near to it as she'll get with it off and gradually make it closer until she eats treats off it. Then do the same with it turned on. Or you can use a favourite toy or just attention depending on her preference. Also just show her that you're happy and calm around it. Don't growl her or tell her off at all if she seems scared of it - just let her calm down and don't push her too hard. She'll come to realise it's harmless eventually and she'll learn to just ignore it.

No way I will ever be able to get a Roomba. My pekingese puppy barks at EVERYTHING at is unfamiliar and dances around it like crazy.

We were considering getting a Roomba for my dad. He has a cat... I dunno if she'll like it too much if dogs hate it.
Then again, she's an old coot of a cat- she might just grumble wordlessly and try to stare it down.
