I was wondering how long it would be before hypocrisy and politics came up.

Clarification on the exact legalities of Feraga is welcome here, this is good information. Their legal system does seem to make for a good plot in this.

I always though a shotgun wedding was where one side is being forced to marry at gunpoint whether literally or figuratively. Guess I was wrong.
Wonderful! Time for a celebration... Cheese for everyone! Wait, scratch that. Cheese for no one. That can be just as much of a celebration, if you don't like cheese, true?
Re: 2013/10/11 - Topical Humor 2: Electric Boogaloo
Oh, foreign laws, how much trouble you have the potential of causing.
Just started thinking, maybe this was where the late king and Sabrina's dad had the falling out on. Eh, just speculation.

Yet another interesting twist
And someones ears are burning again no?
If one's totally free could always go down the, go along with it, divorce, come back rich, but morally that feels repugnant. Then again what goes around comes around.
Shotgun wedding may not be legal there anyway, and that crossed with a possible distaste for cross spices marages that someone mantioned may make Jata very very unpoupular back home. Was this the not needing to stay there he mentioned, thinking of leaving it all behind, the equlal rights, money and status just to be with Sabrina. BUT that is really reading between the lines even for me
Good to see Max hasn't been taking beefcake

I'm not sure that's what a shotgun wedding typically entails, unless Sabrina was pregnant at six months...

Thats why marriage is not for pets!!! Even We humans see more harm in it than use, but since King and Bailey's wedding, the first marriage is already forcing people to marry someone they dont love.

Discussion down in the dog's deep den
leads to the fateful decree of Feragian law.
The cessation of slavery should be loved
but poor Sabrina's been caught by the paw
she can't escape. Ever the desperate
amongst washer, window and pool table,
Sabrina spills the story strands for Fido
telling tales of time – as much as she's able.
Shotgun ceremonies are seldom seen safe
and Jata may just find justice a giant foe.
Because, for Sabrina and Fido's future,
one thing is crystal clear. Jata's gotta go!

Hmm, I wonder if Fido's owners know about him and Sabrina's relationship? I mean he has to have noticed Fido walking into the basement with her at least once by now.
Also, I don't get the title, could someone pleasehit me with a brick explain it to me?

My first tought when I saw the Strip:"Cool, they have a pool table!"
But I'm now curious about Keene, does he know about the Shotgun wedding tradition of Feralga or is he just interested in their "Pets are free citizens"-politics?

Heh, don't think I've seen a comic on the subject on politics without dissing it.
Also, I actually thought Feraga was a legit existent location earlier in this arc, and I had to do a google search on it to realise how dumb I was :/
Love the new forum banner too! Was there a competition for it? Don't think I've seen that...

Re: 2013/10/11 - Topical Humor 2: Electric Boogaloo
Well, the comic did depict a failed communist revolution, there was a strip which sort of lampooned political cartoons, and there was a very political news post. It's not like politics don't exist in the HP! universe, or our own, and the comic's not shy about touching on that when it's appropriate.44R0NM10 wrote:Just saying, I never thought there'd be a HP comic strip where politics was referred to so bluntly :P

Referring to politics without specifying any specific positions or politicians is typically fair game in just about any kind of media, no matter how family-appropriate.
What does this have to do with King's and Bailey's marriage? Or marriage in general?Vuk91 wrote:Thats why marriage is not for pets!!! Even We humans see more harm in it than use, but since King and Bailey's wedding, the first marriage is already forcing people to marry someone they dont love.
Typically the shotgun in question is the bride's parents' in the scenario after which the term got named.Zaitsev wrote:Well, he kind of is forcing her to marry him.Sheogorath wrote:I always though a shotgun wedding was where one side is being forced to marry at gunpoint whether literally or figuratively. Yeah, I think all political parties have that requirement for membership. You are also required to attend a course in creating havoc and blaming it on the other side. Politics 102 is called No-gotiation...Sabrina wrote:I think, before they let you into politics, you need to first prove you're a massive hypocrite.

Re: 2013/10/11 - Topical Humor 2: Electric Boogaloo
In order to prevent the child from being 'delivered' out of wedlock, the parents forcefully make the man and woman get married. The force used is typically a shotgun pointed at the face of the man, which is where the "shotgun" part comes from.Sheogorath wrote:I always though a shotgun wedding was where one side is being forced to marry at gunpoint whether literally or figuratively. Guess I was wrong.
Usually personal and religious moral codes are used as the motivation to force a couple into marriage in this way. For many people (stereotypically in the remote regions of Kentucky, Tennessee, and other U.S. states in the Appalachian mountains) it is a public disgrace to have a child in the family that is "born out of wedlock." The "shotgun wedding" is an attempt to avoid that disgrace.
