I'm no expert, but use Inkscape(vector graphics editor) to outline(and color, but only outlining is explained), Two ways, by hand with the pen tool, using my TabletPC's Integrated (Wacom) Digitizer, Simply by tracing the sketch where it should be traced.Coatl_Ruu wrote:Wow. There is a lot of just generally awesome stuff here.
Now, for those of you who use photoshop or something photoshop-like, would any of you be able to give me a quick description of how you outline and color your sketches? I'm trying to find a good way to do that, but it's not quite turning out the way I wanted. Help would be much appreciated!
or with the mouse, with the Beizer Curve tool(equivalent to a line or curves tool in other programs) to manually trace every line that needs to be traced. Once I'm done tracing that way, I export a medium resolution bitmap, then use inkscape's "trace bitmap" feature to re-vectorize it. This way, brush dynamics are cheaply simulated.
(I made a video demonstrating this for somebody else a while ago, it takes a lot longer than by hand, but if you cant do it by hand, it's the only option)
I mostly work in vectors, as opposed to raster as most people use. I prefer using vector graphics for drawings as there is no limit in it's resolution, as there would be for raster images.(and my TabletPC can't handle huge images) So if you want to work with raster images instead, you'd probably be better off looking into the information posted above instead.
