A good idea
Hey, you guys know that cutout paper doll of King that's in the back of book 3?
Well I just had myself the best idea ever.
If you know what I mean.

To make a copy of the King doll on magnet paper and have a magnetic King dress-up

I'm gonna do it, too, once I have a job again. I don't have money for fun things right now.

I am sure that King will really appreciate the effort you went to so that you could make his humiliation a lot more enjoyable for everybody else. I am gonna be interested in seeing how this turns out!

Well, it's not gonna be long. I accepted a position today. I gotta get caught up on bills, but I'll still have plenty of time because it's a part time position to start with, although I'll definitely look for it to become a full time position if possible. Especially at what they're paying, I'd love it to become full time.

Re: A good idea
It's gonna suck the first few weeks. First of all, it's a very physical job and I've gotten used to not much activity since I lost my previous job, and second of all it's gonna involve getting up at 3 AM whereas my previous job involved not going to bed until 1 AM. Complete opposite end of the shift spectrum.

Yeah I can see how that can be very difficult to get used to but I am sure you will be able to push through it! Once you get used to it then you will be able to get a handle on it!
Re: A good idea
Bravo for gainful employment! (Although starting at 3 AM does mute the enthusiasm of that cheer just a decoble or two.)

Re: A good idea
It pays $4/hour more than my old job so if I can grab a full time version, yay for that. That's so much money to spend on gas to get to work.

Oh trust me I can feel for you right there. When I take gas out of my paycheck in order to get to work I have only a fraction left of it which isn't really a whole lot of money after taxes.

I've also got a car payment and student loans and one credit card. It took longer than I thought to find a new job, so I'm gonna have to miss a payment on my student loans and probably be late on the car payment. Fortunately this new job is a pay every week type of job, so I should at least have a partial car payment on time. Partial is better than none.

I'm lucky enough to have my parents (read: my mother) stepping in to help me if I begin to fall behind and I need a way to catch up but I do have to pay her back double. In exchange she doesn't have the money I owe accrue interest! XD

My parents probably would help me if I asked, but given my brother has already "borrowed" $200K from them, I try not to ask them.

He hasn't paid a dime back, but he was gonna go on a cruise last year. If that gives you any idea.

Yeah that actually makes me see things pretty clearly honestly and I get it and what he's like. No offense, but in my opinion he is a complete scumbag for taking money from them. :/

Re: A good idea
Not so much for TAKING the money but for not even trying to pay it back. The money was to pay a lawyer to get his daughter back from his drug addict ex-wife, so he had a good reason to borrow it.

So he would use the leftover money to go on a cruise instead of you know, GIVING it back? Would have been nice if he wasn't gonna pay it all back for him to give what was left back.

Oh, no, it wasn't leftover, it was new money from his job. He just decided "let's go on a cruise instead of paying mom and dad back what we borrowed."

That is still kind of scummy. Unless they told him EXPLICITLY not to pay them back the money he got from them.

They told him explicitly it was a loan against my father's 401(K) and that he would need to pay it back.

I bet you all thought I forgot about this. Surprise, I didn't! We had to get new printer ink, and my first attempt had poor quality so I was looking for a way to scan it to a computer first so I could make sure it wasn't distorted or faded before I actually printed it.
I just printed the job out on my magnetic paper, and just need to cut it out. I'll probably pick at it here and there over the next few weeks while writing.

Re: A good idea
Over my decades, I've known a number of families who "loaned" money to their adult children. Only one of them ever got repaid.
Me and the missus.
We followed four main principles:
(1) NO COSIGNS - EVER !!!
(2) Establish a repayment schedule and, from time to time, invoke it.
(3) Discuss retirement from time to time.
(4) Never let your children forget - "IF WE RETIRED IMPOVERISHED, YOUR MOTHER AND I WILL MOVE INTO THE HOUSE OF WHICHEVER CHILD OWES US THE MOST MONEY!" That threat seems to have been very effective.
$200,000.00 ... gosh, that's a lot of money. I wish your family well. Ging.

I honestly don't have to worry about that last one and that is because I never ask my parents for that amount of money ever and the amounts I do I usually pay back from my bank account which I only touch for car payments. I'm not sure either of my parents would want to move in with me either as I am sure they would just be glad I'm gone when I move out. LOL

Re: A good idea
I am still poking away at this project, but some of those costumes are pretty difficult to cut out with scissors. I've just had the brilliant idea to use an x-acto knife but I need a cut mat for that, which will be here on Monday. So far, I've cut out the ballerina costume, the basketball jersey, the lei and grass skirt, the collar, the sunglasses, and part of the clown costume. Regrettably, I've lost the can of soda, but I think I can just reprint that part of that page when I get to the point where I need it.

Just be careful when using the exacto-knife in order to cut out more of the costumes to put onto your magnetic King for dress up. Would hate for you to add your finger or your skin to the list of stuff you cut off.

It's done! It took ages (mostly procrastination) but I finally finished it!
BEHOLD! One magnetic King paper doll! I can mix and match his cute little outfits, and as a bonus, most of them automatically snap into place because of the nature of magnets!

I really like how stunning all of this has come out here even if you were one to procrastinate on this though I know how that happens. This is totally amazing and now you can dress up King to suit whatever mood you are in!

Re: A good idea
With how sadistic Pete was and the fact that he liked to get off on seeing King suffer and tried to make his go over the despair event horizon, I am surprised that he didn't not only just dress him up in the clown costume but throw pies at him. I think that sort of humiliation and derisiveness would definitely result in King FULLY losing it and giving up on everything at that point.
