Housepets!

Hey there! I decided to read Housepets at the beggining of January and i finished it last week (i was truly hooked by it). During reading i always thought of it on how would it look if it was a TV animated show and i wanted to know your opinion if you guys would like to see a Housepets! show.

Honestly i wouldn't like it because in order to be good it would need the same artstyle and that would mean Rick Griffin in the project and realistically speaking i think it's impossible + I think that a comic can't be made into a series and viceversa (Into the Spider-Verse is an exception tho)

If it was a series though, i made the math, and it would have aproximately 6 seasons with each arc being an episode

Oh, and I'm also not sure if it would work as a show. Personally, I like it better as a comic.

There'd need to be some changes compared to the original arcs in order to make a better transition, but a fully animated housepets series? Sign me up!

I'm sure it is something Rick wouldn't mind doing if he had the right opportunity come his way. So it probably isn't that bad of an idea. I also would like to see one of it could be created!

Maybe a few animations, but a full blown TV show...well it wouldn't be a bad idea. A lot is possible there, so I suppose it would have to be a sort of experimental thing.

You might be surprised to learn there have been multiple attempts by fans to do something like this. Unfortunately, I don't think any got much farther than the proof of concept phase. To those people who would like a Housepets TV Show, you could try reviving one of those.

Yeah I saw like one or two youtube channels that made a bit of progress and then just died out. I figure it was like a casting issue or something like that.

It would be neat to see the series done as a voiced over motion comic. Sort of like was done with Watchmen a few years back.

Question is, what music/genre thereof would be appropriate for a TV show?

I'm assuming it would be pop music if it was to be done with very audience friendly lyrics.

The animation - if true to Rick's comic style - would have to be pretty high quality. Old style two-dimensional might work best to capture his workmanship.

Yeah, I always like to imagine the facial transitions when like Kevin is asked why he can't host Sasha, or Grape when asked if she'd risk a 1% chance of Baileys wrath

Why would Grape risk a 1% chance of Bailey's wrath? Also, why is this in spoilers?

The whole "how many kids do they have" thing when Grape & Peanut were babysitters. Also idk I suppose pretty much everyone here has read the whole comic so yeah it's kinda pointless.

It woult’d also work if he got hit and the title sequence started immediately afterwards.

Nice, I wonder if future projects may take inspiration from that. Perhaps the youtube series that is still "ongoing" (though I don't think an update on it has been made in months)

That really does look very cool! I hope that Cartoon Network if they do agree to air it won't cancel it for something else though.

It isn't something that is happening though and we were just talking about how cool it would be if they could make one and it airs. I honestly don''t think anybody would be coming to Rick though and Rick would have to go to them though he might have a lot on his plate to actually add something else.

Oh if there ever was one I KNOW that it would be because it is very interesting in comic form and I can see it still being interesting as a television show. I'm not sure if Rick would be up to it since he would have to deal with a LOT of people and executive meddling could possibly happen.

Oh I am absolutely sure that the comic will begin again at some point with a new story. Whether we are all around for it when it does might be another thing entirely.

Hey I'd be up for a voice part if such would come to fruition. More so if in so doing a larger cast of characters would be possible, if not, the original grouping is just as gnarly.

Just don't ask me to sing, because I'd be hard pressed to carry a tune in a bucket much less anyway else.

For the comic itself, should it restart the beginning of next year, awesome. If not, then still nice to go back a re-read, see how to art improved over the years.

I make sure to reread every couple of months and I always discover something new. My favorite thing to do during a reread is to pick a character and try to imagine how confused that character must be when they get involved in ongoing plots that they aren't a part of.

I imagine they would be incredibly confused and maybe that happens a lot of the time since there seems to be something always going on in Babylon Gardens. I'm surprised that characters who aren't central to the arc haven't got caught up in other plots that have happened more often.
