Leslie looked at the table full of paper and drawings and gave a start again. He'd forgotten he had a drink here! He drank from the glass - a bit noisily - until it was half way down. He put the glass down and tried to read one of the lines Leroy had given him to copy. "The kw..Quik su....smarrt C...cat run awae f...fr...fom th... um.... the suhlow dog?

"Hello?" She said, looking curiously at the mouse, though it sounded more like a question. A mouse openly greeting a predator? It was unheard of, at least in the forest.
She then proceed to ask a very blunt but honest question that was on her mind.
"Do animals eat mice in here?" She still wasn't sure of the policy on what to eat and not. So far her experience was, "Don't eat anything that's still living."

Radar had been thinking to herself, staring into the distance, oblivious to the conversation around her. "Hm what?" She snapped out of it and too a second for her mind to catch up. "Oh!" She nodded briefly. "Of course, always willing to lend a paw."

"Well the Humans are keen on testing their medicines, drugs and other experimental products on animals sometimes with horrible side effects. The humans are usually good with medical waste but there are times when some really bad stuff can get where it shouldn't. Also they usually like to monopolize medicine and medical practice in their towns and cities, not trusting animals to treat other animals or sometimes care for each other other...sometimes, you know heh like in this case"
Speaking of the last part Doc broke from his gaze and motioned to the room around them and then settled on Nadia, remembering how the Animal control officer had almost stopped him from reaching Nadia, then after a moment he sighed to himself and let a smile appear
"Though it wouldn't be fair to say they're all bad, they have advanced medicine far beyond practical use and plus you know, they helped all of us especially after the little Poacher incident."

His bestest friend was sat right next to him and playing. he was warm and safe and the only thing missing was Mommy but he was the closest he'd been to totally content for months. Lyfe was good. He got back to his learning (and some drawing), occasionally looking to see what Aron was creating.

And then he doodled Supercat before trying the next sentence.

Aron had been concentrating on a drawing. He finished by shading different spots on the page.

"Hey Les, look!" He holds up his drawing of an almost real-looking picture of Leslie.

Leslie looked at the picture, then at himself. Then he looked back at the picture. "It...It'z me!" He shouted in surprise, almost falling off his chair. He straightened up. "It iz very kewel, Aron! Wish I cud drawer like that"

"Heh, it's not that good.." Aron says,putting the drawing down then rubbing the back of his head.

At that moment, Leroy accidentally drops a pan in the sink.

"Cripes! Leroy!" Aron shouts, jumping at the sound.

"Hey, no need for that.." Leroy says, moving the pan back onto the side. "..darn butterfingers.." He grumbled to himself as he carried on cleaning.

Nadia muttered , she wanted to show her disagreement , but then again , it was not something worth arguing about , it's not like Doc said all humans are good anyway , and speaking about that sort of things would just make them both feel uncomfortable , if not worse , so she decided to change the subject "So , the pets at the shop , have you know them long?"

Leroy finishes the dishes, finally, and once again takes off the apron and hangs it up. "Right, that's that done.." Leroy says aloud, then walks off through to his study closing the door behind him.

Aron watched him go, then looks back to his second drawing. This time it was Vera, holding a white rose.

After a long while, Aron was sketching around the petals of the rose, then stopped and hopped off his seat. "I'm going to check on Vera again, she's been in there for a while now.." He says to Leslie before heading to the bathroom door and knocking.

"Vee? You've been in there quite a while now.." Aron says, leaning against the door.

No response.

"Vee? Vera!"

Silence. Aron puts his paw on the handle, breathes out, then twists and enters. Looking around the corner to the bath, Aron sees Vera lying covered in bubbles in the bath with a towel as a pillow behind her head. She looked asleep, or really relaxed..

Aron swallows, then speaks. "Vera?"

"GHYAAHHHHHH!! ARON!!" She screams, bubbles flying everywhere.

"AHH! Geez, sorry!!" Aron shouts, hiding around the corner.

Leroy comes running out the study and to the bathroom. "What's going on here!?" He calls, entering the room.

"Aron walked in on me!!" Vera shouts, getting out the bath, and covering herself with a towel.

"It was to check if she was alright! She's been in here for ages!!" Aron shouts, defending himself.

"Hey! Hey! calm down, both of you! Aron, out.." Leroy said, pointing his thumb to the door.

He follows Aron out and they stand in the hall until Vera comes out, dry and collared.

"You alright?" Leroy asked her as she stepped out.

"Fine.." Vera said, rubbing her inner ear with the towel. "Need help getting this bandage off though.." She added, handing Aron the towel when she was finished with it.

"I'll do it, as an apology?" Aron said, taking the towel as Vera handed it to him.

"If it's okay with you, Vera?" Leroy said, crossing his arms.

Vera gave Aron a stern look, then sighed. "Fine.."

"Great. After you.." Aron said, holding out his arm towards the livingroom.

The two rabbits headed to the Living-room, Leroy following them then heading into his study again.

Vera hopped onto the sofa, then held her leg out. "You sure you remember how Mrs Walton did it?" Vera asked, handing Aron the bandages.

Aron nodded and knelt down by Vera, putting the towel and the bandages under her leg.

He started by taking off the waterproof covering, careful not to pull at Vera's fur, then slowly unraveling the bandage.

Vera looked uncertainly at Aron, watching his face.

Once the bandage was off, Aron took out the bandages and started re-wrapping Vera's leg. When finished, Aron made sure it was secure and comfortable, then stood up.

"There." He said, putting his paws on his hips.

"Thanks.." Vera said, looking down.

Aron could tell she was still upset with him. "No problem.. Look, I'm sorry for, y'know.. Walking in on you.. But.." He sighed. "..I'm just sorry."

Vera looked up at him. "Apology accepted, It's okay." She then looked at her leg. "Heh, you did pretty well.."

Aron smiled. "Thanks.. I do listen, y'know.." He said, chuckling. He then remembered his drawing. "Oh, and I have something for you.." He said, then ran to the kitchen, rolled up his drawing, then ran back to Vera, handing it to her.

Vera took it, rolled it open and gasped. "W-wow.. I.." She stuttered, blinking. "..It's.. Beautiful.."

Aron rubbed the back of his head again and blushed.

Vera looked up at him, a slight grin on her face, and grabbed him by the ear..

"Ow! Ow ow ow!"

..then kissed him on the cheek. Letting go, she smiled. "Thank you very much, it's amazing..".

Aron was rubbing his ear, but smiled. "Heh, it's okay.." He said, sitting next to her.

Vera leaned her head on his side. "Sorry about your ear.." She says, closing her eyes and feeling the warmth from him.

"It's okay.. It doesn't hurt.." Aron says, lying his head on hers and putting an arm around her. ..That much..

He handed Aron the picture. " He had a bad dreeme last nite."

"I also did one of Leslie and he almost fell off his chair." Aron said.

"Did you? Well, Aron has always been good at drawing, especially after that class.." Vera said, patting Aron on the head.

Aron shrugged. "All I did was listen.. I knew how to draw before that.."

"Yes, but not as well as you do now.." Vera told him, leaning her head back on his side.

Aron just bit his lip and shrugged again. Vera giggled.

Leroy came out the study again, walking right past the three and towards his bedroom without a word.

Aron and Vera watch him go by, then look at each-other and shrug. "Anyway, we should all do something together.. Any ideas?" Aron says, looking from Leslie to Vera.

Vera looks at Leslie. "How about we play hide and seek? I'll seek first, you two hide."

Aron looks around. "Mmm.. Okay. Few rules though, No going in Leroy's study or bedroom, no going outside or in the garage. Okay?"

Vera nods. "Leslie?"

"OK!" Leslie said, a little too loudly, nipping out of the room swiftly and looking for a good place to hide. Under the bed was silly but.... A closet? He could get in one of those in the bedroom so he did, climbing into the top corner of the bedroom closet and doing his best to close the door behind him.

Aron and Vera watched him run off. Aron shrugged. Vera shrugged too then closed her eyes and started to count. "1.. 2.. 3.."

Aron took that as a nudge and ran into the kitchen in a slight panic. He opened a cupboard, too small, another, aha! The 'trash' as Americans put it, no shelf to get in the way. He crawled into it and shut the door. The bin was pretty clean, as they hadn't used it.

"..7.. 8.. 9.. 10! Here I go.." Vera said, grabbing her crutch and standing. She looked around.

Not in here.. Definitely, there's hardly anywhere to hide.. Maybe the bedroom? She thought, then walked down the hallway. One at the end or..? Nah, that would be Leroy's.. She entered Aron's room.

Ha! I was right! Now.. She starts by checking under the beds. Nope.. Hmm..

She checks the first wardrobe, the one next to the one Leslie's hiding in. Oh dog, why are you so good at hiding? She went to the next one..

A small, red car rumbled into town heading south down the main street, "Are we almost there?" Tesla whined from his car seat to his owner, who responded with a reassuring pat on the head, "Just about!" the short woman chirped

Senka frowned as she followed them, not because she couldn't eat Chip but because of the dawning realization that there seemed to be some misconception on the whole food chain premise that this community seemed to have. She still wasn't sure on the specifics but it appeared, for now, the only thing clear was "don't eat anyone, ever." Which was something she would have to get used to.
As they walked through the park the structure in the large circle of sand caught her attention again. It appeared to consist of two metal poles jutting out the of the ground melded to a horizontal one that connected the two forming an upside down U. Two sets of chains dangled from the horizontal pole and each had some sort of seat attached to them. Both were softly swaying back and forth.

In the shop, the builders have finished installing the new doorway.
"There you go, Richard. All done. Better than new, if I do say so myself." Richard smiles.
"Thanks, Stan. I knew I could count on your boys. I'll drop by your office an-" Richard burps and swallows mid-sentence, feeling something move viscerally.
"Urgh. Please do excuse me. I'll drop by your office and pay that tomorrow."
"Sure thing. And I know just where to find you if you don't." Stan, the builder, jokes. "Are you all right? You look a little off-colour."
"I'm OK. Just a bit of a bug coming on, maybe."
"Alright. You take care. Cost me missus a fortune in chicken soup last time you were taken ill."
"Heh, I'll do my best. Pat does make the best soup in town though!" Richard farewells the builders after collecting the keys to the new door and then locks the shop door before climbing the stairs.

At that moment, Richard enters the room, looking even more pale and unsteady. Gripping the edge of the bench he fixes himself a glass of water.
"Dad? Are you OK? What happened?" Piper stands and makes her way over to him.
"I-I'm OK, Piper. It's just- *urk* I think that leftover mystery meat loaf I finished off this morning had a bit more mystery in it than we-" Nearly dropping his glass into the sink, Richard bolts for the bathroom and not a moment too soon as his stomach violently rids itself of the offensive meal.
"Uh, yeah, I think I'd better stay and help Dad. Sorry, guys... Excuse me." Piper also heads off towards the bathroom, calling to Richard as she goes.

Finishing his dinner, Paul spends some time checking over some paperwork and other small tasks essential to the running of a veterinary clinic before heading back up to see Koa. Knocking on the door of the loft, he lets himself in to where the small dog is waiting on the couch with his friend.
"How are you feeling, Koa? Any pain?"

Samantha, on the other hand, receives a fax from the lab with the results she'd requested for Vera. Picking up the phone, she dials Leroy's number.
"Hi, Mr. Jenkins. It's Samantha Walton form the veterinary clinic. I have Vera's test results back. Is this a good time to discuss them?"

"Hi, Mr. Jenkins. It's Samantha Walton form the veterinary clinic. I have Vera's test results back. Is this a good time to discuss them?"

"Mrs Walton! Yes, now is fine.." He replied, sitting down on his chair.

Vera turns back to the wardrobe, thinks about it, then turns and walks out into the hallway..

Aron heard the phone. He peeked out of his hiding spot to see Leroy practically jumping on the phone and answering. He heard Leroy say Mrs Walton? Ah, it was the clinic. He closed the cupboard and tried counting again..

Her red blood cell levels are a little low but we expected that due to her blood loss and they're high enough that I'm not worried and that it indicates that she's obviously on the road to recovery. So for the moment my instructions remain unchanged and I'll see you again in a couple of days time to make sure the stitches have taken. Happy with that?"

Paul pulls a packet from his pocket and passes Koa a pill. "This is meloxicam, an NSAID. I'm assuming you know about it from the medical training you said you had but feel free to ask if you've got any questions. We'll start you off with this and if it doesn't work then we'll try you on something stronger. Again no herbs." He passes Koa a cup of water to wash the tablet down.
"Making money? Um... I don't know of many places here that hire animals, even though the town is pet friendly. I suppose once your leg is healed you could try mowing lawns or washing cars. Or you could always set up a lemonade stand. Other than that you could check the classifieds." he indicates the newspaper on the arm chair.

"Anyway , I've only been here a few days and.......it's not as bad as it could've been I guess . Made a few friends on the first day, but then we got into an accident , somewhat my fault to be honest , so the trip was cut short . But in the end every was Ok . Then I made a bit of chaos back in this clinic , not that much though . The second day was yesterday , could've been a perfect day , except for that embarrassing moment in the shop Senka and I was in , but other than that it was fine , until tha wolf showed up and....yeah . And then we have today's event , I made everyone panicked from me passing out earlier so......I don't know , seems ok ,except for the apparent pattern of "1 trouble a day" I guess" She said jokingly , and chucked at the end

Chip thought for a few seconds and realised that she kinda liked it up here. She could see quite a ways, it was a bit warm and Elliot didn't smell that bad. She figured she could understand the other shoulder riders... wait, other shoulder riders? Was she counting herself as one of them? Nah. Besides, she was on a scarf. "What names were those - if you don't mind me asking?"
