In short, Saga was a mouse with a kind of complicated family, and had to leave RG because her family needed her.

Should I replace Drake with Icee as the main character, after the magic arc?

You words hurt me, Rendak. ;)

I apologize for my random on-and-off schedule. You should find it's because I do too many things at once, and end up not doing some of the things I plan on. Sadly, this has lowered my posting average a lot.

Either way, how are we gonna decide who wins each game of billiards? I've suggested it to be based on Perception, Intellect and Luck but, I was hoping to hear what you guys thought on that.

I may not be in the RP, yet, but in my opinion Luck isn't really a factor in billiards (well. . .I dunno, maybe), personally I'd say Perception, Int, and Dexterity, but as Dexterity is a non-entity just Perception and Int

Good point Heth. Dexterity needs to be a factor as well. But I still think luck needs to go in somewhere.

Maybe it should be:

half your luck score
half your perception score
all your dexterity
all your intellect

It's not perfect...but, what are your thoughts?

maybe (luck/2)+(agi/2) = dexterity

and the calculation for skill in billiards would/could be. . . Int + (Perception*0.75) + Dexterity, perhaps?

ACK! No math problems! The SPECIAL system we use is supposed to be a guideline, not a hard and fast rule. I've explained this numerous times in the past...I had this one post somewhere... but basically the ending point is "That there is no formula for trust" and other such things. The last thing we want is someone who can perfectly lie every time, etc.

This RP is more writing rather than game based, and the stats system is supposed to be a limit to what your character can do, more than used to contest other characters. The stats are mainly used against the environment. For example, Magnus (STR 10) can help move a car with ease, Venison (STR 3) can have trouble uprooting plants. The only time a character contest comes up would be something direct, like arm wrestling, (in this case, it "would only make sense" if that character won) but in most cases, it's the character, not their stats, that determine the winner of a contest.

Another example: one player might be "a natural" at the game because of specific high stats, but the winner would still be the guy who's played the game more, or has a pool table and can practice. (Think of a pool newbie attempting a "behind your back" shot.) If neither person has played the game before, they're both going to be horrible at it, and it might come down more to luck, etc. Or the person who's still conscious when the cue ball goes flying about.

It's far more fun in most cases to discuss and brainstorm with your RP'ing partner some general things of what might happen, then go into action and see what happens. Basically, RP your character, not their stats! Hey, I should add that to the rules; that's the clearest way I've put it so far!

Trust me when I say I've tried making a math based system that worked...but nothing really has. Not for this RP, anywho.

EDIT: Though, I suppose, if you REALLY want to go that way, only the neighborhood GM can put the stomp on it. Stat competitions can make things faster and easier if necessary. I'd think they're less fun, though.

...Now if I could only apply that as easily to close reading essays.

Anyway, the TL,DR version is that you're generally supposed to use stats as a basic guideline, but let the actual character, and their experience, backstory, and strengths and weaknesses, play out an encounter, rather than their stats. Stats are a fallback for when you don't know what to do, but often, if you think creatively, playing out the situation can be much more fun than a calculation.

Well...this kinda make's who wins at the games a lot more challenging...hmm...
(I know absolutely nothing about Max...)

Sly's never played the game before, although he know's the rules quite well. He's watched the game quite a few times both from TV and with his owner+owner's friends. I'd say that Max would win this game if he's played the game before. If not, Sly's victory. Basic enough? (Yeah, I need your answer please CT on if Max has played before)

As of the Awesome and Jack game...Jack wins. I expect Jack'll have a basic understand from watching the first game. Awesome, on the other hand, will be incredibly panicky with everyone watching him, thus lowering his concentration on the game. He has no chance of winning.

Max has played before while he was at his cousin's house, but he's no expert.
