Speaking of Bailey, while she is out and about something happens and she gets injured resulting in her having to stay on bedrest for a few weeks leaving King all alone to deal with the pups. Cue him having a nervous breakdown from not only being overprotective but trying to stop them when they get into a dangerous situation.

From a brief fling he had a long time ago with a female sheep dog on a neighboring farm, Rufus has a son that Reuben has been taking care of. Needing to send him away briefly due to something on the farm he has to take care of, Reuben sends him to Babylon Gardens where he meets his first cousins once removed Peanut and Grape as well as Max who Rufus took care of so he sees him as a pseudo-brother.

I do wonder if that is where Rick might have gotten the name from and that is why he decided to use it in the comic as the name of the neighborhood. Since it is one of the Seven Wonders of the World he might have chose it because the neighborhood was going to be a wonder since it was pet-friendly and I think might have been one of the first pet-friendly areas.

I should check the internet, but "Babylon Gardens" not only has Biblical and historical Mesopotamian lineages, but it sounds like just the sort of name some RV or trailer park developer would give to an encampment site with paradisical pretensions.

Arcs that would never happen - Duchess decides to invest in a new developmental community adjacent to Babylon Gardens to be called "Pharoanic Heights". Not to be outdone, Keene declares his intention to create another community, "Hittite Hollows". And who should wander into this housing hysteria but our favorite investment predator, Gale, on behalf of an unexpected foreign bankroller ... Prince Jata.

Oh, who will confront this madness? I dunno ... Marion and Lois, mebbee?

We end up getting to meet some of Spo's siblings who come by after seeing how a good portion of the world has become animals and as such feel safer heading there believing they won't run into any predators. We have two of Spo's older sibling which are Spm and Spn and two younger siblings Spp and Spq.

Keene once again unleashes new products onto the neighborhood for beta testing like he did during the Great Water Fight- this time, it's laser tag guns enhanced with magic to temporarily change dogs to cats and cats to dogs. We see all sorts of hybrid abominations, such as Peanut with a cat's tail, Max with Bino's ears, Zach with a fox's tail, and Bino as a cat. For some reason, Bino's doesn't wear off right away like the others, leading to character growth that is immediately discarded when it suddenly wears off after a heartfelt speech about how maybe cats aren't that bad after all.

Tarot decides to try to hire a nanny for the pups since she and Peanut can't raise them by themselves and the Sandwiches have their hands full with Peanut and Grape to take on responsibility for their grandchildren also. Tarot gets a LOT of candidates and thinks about hiring Lucretia until she hears Lucretia's idea to take them out to the wilderness at just a few months old and have them fend for themselves.

Olive, Ace, and Rook see an activity on TV that they would like to join. King, ever the overprotective father, says no. The triplets, having reached their rebelious teenaged years, consequently pick him up and put him up on the kitchen counter where he can't get down and go out to do the thing anyway.

After seeing how well Bailey does as a mother and being introduced to Peanut and Tarot's pups after they are born Sasha decides that SHE too wants to be a mother and Kevin goes along with it thinking it would be cool to have a son he can teach tackle techniques to. (Holy Alliteration Batman!).

As a result Kevin after Sasha urges him to puts an APB out on the stork that delivers pups to their parents.

After a night out with Mungo, Fox is spotted with a broken femur. Speculation and teasing follow, conjecturing on the "activities" that Fox and Mungo got up to on their date. Embarrassed, Fox refuses to answer, which only makes the rumors worse, until Mungo admits that Fox broke his leg in a freak accident and not due to "activities."

Tarot's human appears at the Sandwich residence, surprising everyone who thought she just lived on her own. Tarot is upset that people would think that, especially given that none of them offered to let her live with them or even checked that she was all right. Surprisingly, even Peanut and Sabrina didn't know. Even more surprisingly, Bino DID.

Spring and Summer return except this time they're gaga over ... Mungo?!

Res comes to Babylon Gardens for a visit and asks Grape to be a test audience for his newest book series. Grape tiptoes around the fact that she doesn't like it and tries to hide her disappointment that it's not Pridelands, related to Pridelands, or even similar to Pridelands. It's not that she doesn't enjoy the book, so much as it's not what she would have expected from Res.

Duchess finds another dog who is even more obedient to her and defers to what she says and whatever she asks him to do he does it and is more competent at it so she begins to show an interest. Bino finds out and challenges this other dog for Duchess's hand with the winner being Duchess's boyfriend and as expected, Bino fails MISERABLY at the competition. Surprising everyone, Duchess chooses to stay with Bino even when he loses since she feels like she can control him easier than the other dog who might grow more strong-willed than she can take.

Alternate Housepets! from the reality where King and Fox ended up together and the Game is still ongoing arrive in Babylon and wreak havoc. The visitors are King, Fox, and Tarot, and they are locked in stealthy combat; Tarot is on the ropes and King and Fox are working for an alternate version of Pete trying to hunt her down and get her to say Uncle. They keep being seen doing suspicious carp, followed immediately by the ones from our reality happening past and getting flack for it. When they finally figure out what's going on it's because Alt-Fox stumbled across real-King and attempted something embarrassing before alt-King walked in on it. At that point, the alternate Housepets are scolded and sent back to their own reality.
King secretly liked the kiss from Alt-Fox, but will take that information to the grave.

Squeak eventually grows out of her enjoyment of paws and being stepped on and decides that she is into something new and different: getting sat on by bigger animals and crushed underneath their butts. This new compulsion however is too much for Joey and he tries to get her to go back to paws.

After a community party punctuated by assorted nuttiness between pets and people, Fox discovers he has a new crush ... Sabrina. Tis attraction is compounded by Fido raising the issue that it's about time for the K9s to open up to females. Sargeaqnt Ralph and Kevin struggle with this, females ... maybe but a CAT!! Fox, of course, goes into anguish.

After a bake sale in the town where Rex's goods once again wow everybody with how luscious they are Kevin decides he wants to try his hand at baking. Naturally this doesn't end well as anything he tries to make ends up being inedible.

I am sure that she probably does know but doesn't really bother with it much and is just happy with the simple pleasures in life and not get sucked into browsing the World Wide Web even though Joey tries to get her into it. I would think in my "arc that would never happen" that her having a few minutes of screen time is what leads to her finding her new obsession.

Keene decides Babylon Gardens needs a baseball team and enlists Miles to form one from his pack. Duchess, reflexively competitive, brow-beats Bino into organizing a counter-team. Naturally, there's going to be a play-off and who will be the home base umpire? Who indeed?

Sasha attempts to follow her twentieth lifelong dream and become a hair dresser to pets and to animals in the town to show how stylish she is. After botching several haircuts and sending one or two people to the hospital she decides its best to leave that dream behind.
