Two years of Hiatus

Post by GingaDensetsuAleu »

This Friday will be two years since Rick's been on hiatus for Housepets, which is of course very sad.
However, in that two years, he's been taking more and more stuff off his plate; he's finished "The Final Days of the White Flower II," is apparently weeks away from releasing his second Tales of Haven Celestia anthology, has wrapped up a bunch of his other comics, and of course went through and remastered a bunch of old Housepets pages for the Omnibus, in which he stated he DOES still intend to return. He's been keeping the Housepets style sharp through some doodles on his patreon (most of which cannot be posted here because they are segzy) and has even released background images of what we might be coming back to when he DOES eventually return, such as a preggers Tarot and Fox being with Mungo.
My brain says that if he DOES return this year, it'll probably be sometime in the next couple weeks (although my brain is NOT Rick's and therefore is likely wrong).

That said, how often do you still check the main site to see if there's been an update? I check almost every day.

I check twice a day also because I have the home page saved as my favorites and I use it to enter into the forums. I just continue to sit back and continue to post on the forums since it is pretty much second-nature to me now.

You guys'll let me know but, yeah, I check in most days to do birthdays, play a game, and see how everyone's doing.

You probably should also learn to add celebrating future forum members birthdays on days that there are no birthdays on at all. It is better to find the good in something rather than just bemoan the bad. :)

Starting to lose interest outright. I don't know how long I can keep going outright when it comes to writing stuff for the forums. Maybe something need to be a muse to actually work on more stuff.

There are a ton of other stories that were written by other forum members past and present that you could read if you need some inspiration. It might not be the same as the comic itself but there are some really good fanfics out there that capture the heart of the comic even if they aren't written by Rick Griffin himself.

Yeah I get it but with everything going on and the state of the world being what it is right now we should always strive to be more positive and less negative. It definitely will be a lot more healthier for you in the long run and do a lot to boost your mood.

Get a glance at Zyrwolf's kittycat picture on "2013/11/13 - Hand to Hand". That'll give your humor a lift! ;)

I haven't forgotten as I have one that often does that so she can get into certain small spaces and it doesn't bother her. It does look really painful admittedly to an observer but she seems fine with moving like that.

I honestly would be worried about bending like that or even trying to. I already dealt with back problems for 15 months which were very agonizing after I somehow herniated a disk in my back. I don't want to do ANYTHING that will make me suffer in agony like that for a second time and rendering me completely immobile and depressed.

I still miss this series, heh. Though the backlog is more than enough to go back though even after all this time.

The fact that you have read through hundreds or even thousands of strips for the comics EIGHT times is really something. Not sure whether I should be impressed or concerned. :P

Well I mean I skip over the Spot(superdog) arcs and most of the Fiddler and Keys moments...

That is still a lot of strips that you have to read through even if you skip all of that content to get through it all. So it is still very impressive that you managed to read so many strips nearly a dozen times in just the past year.

Well I had to read it to get caught up when I rediscovered the comic, read it again while I was waiting for my forum account to be approved, read it again when I bought the books, read it again while making quizzes, read it again when I got bored, read it again while looking for story inspiration, read it again while procrastinating on writing stories, read it again when I bought the Omnibus...

I think you might be able to do a reread through the strips a little bit faster now that they are in book form. You can just open it up and turn each page rather than clicking on the "next" button and waiting for the next strip to load. Even if it loads almost instantaneously having the strips in a physical format will increase your efficiency in reading them all.

Well, actually, if you go to Rick's website, there's an even faster way. He has Housepets there, and there's an option for the eternal scroll, in which you can just eternally scroll downward through the comic.

You know what? That actually makes a LOT more sense as how you were able to get through all of the strips in a short period of time for so many times in one year. I have always just used the main comic page which of course still takes a lot of time and sometimes can be a pain.

That's only been up a couple of months. I have discovered you can use your arrow keys on your keyboard to navigate the main site though.

I just know that I would never be able to do it several times all in a row like you did a year. When I first started reading it was June 2014. It took me TWO months to get up to where Rick was at that point.

I've always been a fast reader. When I was a kid I would go to the library twice a week during the summer and check out 3 novels at 300-400 pages apiece and be finished with them before the next trip.

You might be a fast reader but I am pretty sure you are NOWHERE near as fast as Peanut is with regard to reading. He managed to get through the entirety of the novel "Dune" in one day. LOL

No it wasn't with a blowtorch as the book to be fair wasn't his own copy and he just got it out for a day. If he did do that I don't think the library would be that happy with him for what that meant which is that he DESTROYED their property and he would end up being banned from borrowing any books from it.
