Friends not food.

I actually assumed it was Squeak, which gave the cute first thought of her helping Marion put on makeup or something. No, I don't know why a mouse would wear makeup either.
Minnie Mouse mighta, but I don't remember the specific toon.

Bailey's original owners (who I believe were Bill's relatives that lived on a farm in Kansas) come back and want to take Bailey back with them as well as their pups and leave King behind. Obviously not gonna happen because Rick would never break King/Bailey up and I doubt we will ever hear from Bill's family again.

Rex wants to start a bakery. He starts with a sidewalk stand and endures a lot of mockery from Bino and others - until they discover he's really very good. Then Keene, Duchess, and Gale try to convence the poor bulldog to take out a huge loan and make them partners. Things get competitive and a little crazy as Yeltsin and Daisy step in to help with the growing workload.

Finally, Rex is rescued by ... of course, his idol and role model ... Mrs. McGuillicuddy.

Bino is seen raising a fuss on his way into the vet, and then not seen again for a couple weeks. Rumors circulate that he may have been "put down." Max does not deny the rumors, and in fact plays up on them. Eventually, it turns out that Bino was at summer camp or something. Everybody is excuted to see him back until he reminds them that he is, in fact, a jerk.

Jessica convinces Zack to get a side-gig for Easter as a local Easter bunny and to host an egg hunt in Babylon Gardens for everybody to enjoy. Things then end up getting a little crazy with Zack getting swarmed by a bunch of kids and Tiger trying to sell him.

That was a decade ago so I probably ended up completely forgetting about that and not remembering the details. Other than him wearing bunny ears in that strip was there an Easter Egg hunt that he had to do or did Jessica convince him to do it?

He was the "Easter bunny" for the mall kids, trading in plastic Easter eggs in exchange for prizes. Truck and Falstaff snuck into the mall looking for food and found him there, irritating the crap out of him for all five pages of the arc until he offered to buy them lunch so they would leave him alone.

Oh well when I posted my idea I had a few differences from what actually happened which were that it was in a park somewhere, Zack was hosting the hunt unwillingly, little kids would swarm him and attack him thinking he was the real Easter Bunny, Falstaff and Truck would be NO where to be found this time but Jessica would eventually save him from the little kids and Tiger would try to sell him as the Easter Bunny to make a few bucks to a few of the parents and might have gotten a serious offer or two. The fact I didn't remember that it had happened must mean it wasn't really notable back then. I feel like my idea for it would have been a lot more impressive. I do feel like Zack needs a few arcs like this. Of course, since it is my idea I know for a FACT it will never happen because I don't have many good ones.

Bronson is jealous that seemingly EVERYBODY that he knows has been transformed into an animal and wants to become one too and does all sorts of things to try to trigger it. It goes as well as one would expect for someone like Bronson.

Marion who was always interested in makeup and experimenting with it and trying different shades and tones but never felt like he was able to try it out on himself since he was a male now has the courage to do it since he is in a female body. He tries to put it on himself to see which styles look good on him and which need to be worked on and it doesn't really go well for him.

King finally, reluctantly, agrees to go out and find a job. After weeks of applications and rejections, he finally lands an interview. He puts on his best collar and clothes and reports to the interview- only to find that the interviewer is Orwell Johnson up to another one of his schemes. King just leaves.

An arc featuring Craig doing the typical "I'm mad so I'm gonna run away" thing narrated by Pete from the future, and he keeps stopping the arc to yell at little mortal himself and tell him what an idiot he's being (think Kuzco in The Emperor's New Groove) that ends with Craig having a broken leg and endless teasing from Draig while he's laid up recovering.

Grape tries too hard to be a cool fun aunt to Peanut and Tarot's pups when they are born but because she is doing too much they see her as sort of lame and try to avoid her. To rub salt in the wound they see Max as cooler and openly question why he is dating her.

Res returns ... except his papers are not in order. The K9s jump to the rescue and send Terrance to straighten things out. Res is released but then Terrance is arrested, accused of document falsification. What will save him? Fox, Mungo, and (for a little magical input) Sabrina take the case and save the day and our beleagured Brit returns to Babylon Gardens.

Olive, Ace, and Rook hear a rumor of a ghostly light seen wandering the streets and the woods at night and set out to investigate. Led by Olive, they interview witnesses and head off into the woods to find the ghostly light, only to find Zach using "Cast Light" to navigate his way to and from Jessica's treehouse. The ghostly light is his glowing foot, which he's wrapped in a thin cloth to dim so as not to bother people. Zach escorts the pups home and delivers them to King, who is less than happy as he was under the impression that they were in bed, asleep.

Despite the fact that he had been working there for a while and was one of the better teachers and actually brought up test scores of the school some parents still are a bit unnerved by Miles being a teacher there and complain to the school board which puts him on leave. Miles has to fight for his job at the school and prove that he isn't dangerous while all of his students rally around him and begin staging walk outs.

Simon Milton has secretly been converting his spending money into gold coins for years in hopes of swimming in it like Scrooge McDuck. The day he gets the last shipment he needs to make his homemade "money bin" deep enough, Lana catches him and thankfully stops him before he can hurt himself. Unfortunately, when she calls workers to take all the coins out and convert it back to cash, they discover that a second "Pete Coin" is somewhere in the mix, and have to keep the whole lot until they can find a way to figure out which it is and separate it. Simon is pleased until Lana locks the door so he can't try to dive in.

I'm listening to Marketplace Morning Report talking about humanoid robots in China and thinking "Might Rick introduce a robot or two into Babylon Gardens?" He does a lot with magic but not much with technology. Could be interesting. Or "Aw, sheesh ... :x "

The next time that we pick up again with Jasper and Jinx after the last time we saw them they are back to their zany antics trying to one-up each other. Except this time Jinx goes too far and CRITICALLY injures Jasper and there is no way to reverse it leaving Jasper maimed and Jinx being sent to the pound for what he did with BOTH miserable about the outcome.

I pretty much based this on a VG Cats! strip from 20 years ago that caught my eye which is how I know it doesn't have any chance of happening and this is less fun to think about and more shocking which some of these other posts are.

It seems that Rick has a series about almost anything and is so well-versed in the lore of each of his many stories and is able to keep track of them. I feel like that just goes to show how talented and excellent of a creator he is!

A long time ago when I was writing my story with one of the former forum members who left because they got too busy in real life he would always joke about turning Kevin (then the object of my affections) into a Terminator robot named "Kevinator". I know he was just joking about it but it might have been something really funny if I or anybody else that decided to write a story chose to go in that direction with Kevin or any other pet. LOL

That coulda been fun. Or Kevin as a semi-delusional robotic superhero who is actually klutzy and over-caffinated. Now, I admit, Kevin was a character I never cared for much, but that could be really funny, especially if you throw in Sargeant Ralph trying to control his manic responses and Fido, Mungo, and others trying to be accommodating while also professional. Then throw in Fox's tense relationship with Kevin and you have more fodder for the "grey depressive's" self-doubts and melancholy. Yeah, real possibilities, there!

Except, of course, there's the problem of ... no Housepets! yet. :(

Wishing to reclaim the spark they had in their early days together, Fox takes King with him on a Canine Police retreat, where King promptly accidentally launches a hot air balloons with himself inside. Hilarity ensues as the whole canine squad chases down the balloon, hoping to retrieve it. The arc ends when Spo, who was napping in the balloon's basket, wakes up and uses his unexplained knowledge of the balloon's controls to land it.

After making a chicken joke and surprised that What Chicken didn't show up to give a death glare or beat anybody with a crowbar the cast begins to get worried and track her last movements and end up coming to the conclusion that she was killed and made fried chicken. EVERYBODY is horrified until she reappears and wordlessly indicates she was incubating some eggs.

Rick reintroduces Marvin as a kind of nerdy guy who like to invent things, except they don't always work out so well. Like his first attempt at a robot to do the dishes but thinks it's supposed to be a baseball player. Tiger, of course, gets invovled as eventually will Max, Zack, and Jessica.

A new cat female ends up moving to Babylon Gardens at some point and Tiger ends up falling hard for her but when she shows an interest in Jasper instead, Tiger loses it and vows to make his romantic "rival" look like an idiot so Tiger can claim her. Tiger's antics involved in this plot end up NEARLY destroying the whole neighborhood.

Spo purchases a remote controlled airplane and rewires it so he can pilot it from the cockpit. He's up in the air for a good ten minutes before he suddenly realizes he has no idea how to land. What follows is a panic as various other characters try to talk him through landing, catch the plane, or just guide him to a safe crash landing spot. In the end, Squeak manages to board the plane thanks to a very nervous toss from Joey and lands it from the copilot's seat.

I am sure that after everything that happened with that Fido will end up confiscating the plane and telling Spo to NEVER do anything like that again. If he does try to fly a plane or anything else Fido will arrest him for flying without a pilot's license. LOL

As Bino's behavior issues worsen, he's sent off to obedience school, where he's bullied by the puppies for being so much older than him. In a scheme to escape obedience school, he draws on all of his knowledge and winds up causing a -minor- explosion that results in his expulsion. He finds that while he was away, he was banned from the Good Old Dog's Club in favor of Fox and Fido coming back instead. This, of course, results in his behavior issues growing still worse.
