We do have precedent for avatar powers being passed down through generations. In the Omnibus, Rick has confirmed two existing characters descended from previously met Avatars. Mungo is descended from Satau, and therefore maintained Satau's strength. This much was pretty well implied in the comic.
What I didn't expect is that Res is descended from Ptah, which explains why he was able to use the mana in the temple of Pete safely, and may explain why he was able to retain his weretiger form.

I always thought Mongo and Res might have an arc together, given their background. Rick also brought the SabrerTooth Cat back for a walk-on as Rufus's "date" in Paradise (which was seriously funny and charmingly done).

It's difficult to get Res into arcs because he doesn't live nearby, but the fact that he's a famous person's pet does leave it open for the police to offer security services to him when he visits. The fact that he's gotten along with Fox fairly well also opens the door for Fox to host him for a visit, which, given as Rick has stated he intends for Fox and Mungo to be together in the Omnibus, means spending time with Mungo as well.
I imagine Bill is thrilled at Mungo's visiting frequently given his track record with doors.
It also opens the door for the puppies and Mungo to be in one room together which could cause MUCH hilarity when it comes to King.

King would be so terrified of Mungo accidentally crushing one of his pups by just holding them he would break down and flip out if Mungo went for one of them. If somebody handed one to Mungo, that would be the end of King as I am pretty sure he would have a brain aneurysm. LOL

Satau and Ptah could be fun as a short one-off visit. There was a weird chemistry there.

There was and it could but I don't think that Rick is going to go back to them as doing so would mean having to bring up the Celestials again which he is moving away from. The only way we could see those two again is if we go back to ancient times but we would have to lead up to when they became avatars for the Game.
