Re: Dallas
I honestly never really thought of how he would and I don't think that Rick ever thought of it either honestly. LOL But if I had to guess, I would probably go with option A only because its the only one I can do myself though quite poorly. LOL
Re: Dallas
Nor I. But I suspect there'd be three or four good strips Rick could devise on the subject.

I wouldn't be surprised if this has already been answered and we just didn't notice because we weren't watching for it. I'll have to scour all pages containing Dallas.

No, that's uncomfortable. Have you tried it? He wouldn't do it that way for sure.

I don't know, he was a funny little guy. He had a lot of fans on the forum, too, but never "broke out" of the nerd circle.
I think I may have suggested an arc on "Arcs that would never happen" thread where Dallas finds himself developing a crush on Grape.

He would definitely find a way to do it because being able to is how one shows that they are a quintessential Star Trek fan. Admittedly I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up breaking his fingers in trying to find a way to pull it off.

I like to think that Dallas spent the events of Heckraiser hanging out with Nimoy, Kelly, and Doohan.

I think it's pretty well implied that most people didn't know they were in heaven and that only people in the know noticed. Mungo certainly didn't seem to know.

I think that Dallas might have caught on pretty quickly to it and probably tried to but I feel like Lester would have convinced him that he was being ridiculous. Lester does seem to be the kind of dog that deflates everybody's fun.

Dallas is still convinced The Temple of Pete was all an elaborate hologram so I think you're putting too much faith in his ability to puzzle things out.

Well, I mean... he's a nerd, and Grape was groping his butt. It's probably the closest he's ever come to having a girlfriend. Honestly in their friend group Joey's the cool one. He has other friends AND a girlfriend.NHWestoN wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2025 6:00 pmYup, another "road not taken." ........GingaDensetsuAleu wrote: ↑Sat Feb 22, 2025 10:08 pmWell I mean he did tell Grape to call him in Temple Crashers 2...![]()

I think he is just around to make Joey look cooler in comparison which is a shame because he did have potential. Though Joey as you said is the one that has more relationships outside of Dallas and Lester so if any of the nerds come back to the reboot, it will probably be just Joey.

No, Rick invested a lot of time making them a solid side story teamup. I think they'll stay and get more arcs.

Re: Dallas
I guess that remains to be seen but since he is supposedly scaling down a lot it could end up being that Dallas and Lester might be two characters cut. I would love to see them more but I can't hold out much help because I don't want to be disappointed.
Re: Dallas
I'm inclined to take a different slant on the "Nerd team". First, I think Joey and Squeak are "failed characters". Both are essentially one joke characters, Joey wears a cat suit disguise and Squeak is snarky and rather unpleasant (like Spo, making her also duplicative). Both faded from sight over the last decade while Rick found roles for Lester and Dallas, although those roles were essentially extensions of their nerd gaming personalities. Rick could well surprise me (which, by the way Rick, is no challenge).
Dallas and Lester have possibilities but I can't see them continuing as a duo. There are several of those already operating in the strip. Lester shares several traits with Bino, Tiger, and even Jessica and could emerge as another "anti-hero" type. Or not. Dallas is sweet, naive, curious, and rather open-hearted in a fan-boy sort of way. He could step in for Peanut if fatherhood compells him to "grow up", but that's a real speculation.
So, the nerd team may have an occasional "one-shot" or serve as "walk-ons" (like Rex or Terrance) but I don't see much of a future for them in Housepets! 2.0.

Re: Dallas
The only reason why I see Joey staying over the other two is because he has some other familial relationships they could play off of. Fido is his biological brother and Bino is his biological brother and adoptive cousin. That means that Max is also his adoptive first cousin. If they draw Joey more into Bino and Max's dynamic I could see him getting some more time in the strips.
Re: Dallas
Mebbee. After the bg showdown with Jata, the Fido-Sabrina connection pretty much disappeared with Fido only appearing as a secondary to K9 arcs that usually featured Mungo and Fox. Anything's possible, but I just don't see much of a place for poor neurotic little Joey.

Re: Dallas
I think that the idea Rick had with Fido not being shown a lot after the revelation was so we could see a bit of his fall from grace. Everybody liked him and looked up to him and finding out he was a cat lover ended up smashing other pets pedestals of him but they didn't turn to Bino either. Even Fox struggled a lot with it despite being the only person to vote against Fido being exiled from the GODC.
Re: Dallas
Yeah, that was an avenue in Fox's life that I'd hoped Rick might explore further. After he, Max, and Grape survived Fluffy's Birthday, the grey guy seemed open to appreciating cats more after Grape saved his life. Much later, he and Sabrina had a couple of semi-flirtations that I thought might lead to an evolving friendship. Instead, King filled that role and, after he married Bailey, Fox drifted back into a kind of emotional limbo that began over time - at least to me - became wearying.Amazee Dayzee wrote: ↑Tue Feb 25, 2025 2:35 pm I think that the idea Rick had with Fido not being shown a lot after the revelation was so we could see a bit of his fall from grace. I'm hoping that Fox eventually decides he doesn't need romance at all and is fine with just friendship and having a strong bond with Mungo. Why yes, this is me selfishly wanting to put an OC with him if I ever find anyway to help write a story.

Considering that Winter appears to be in a 4 person polycule in heaven I don't think that's happening.

Re: Dallas
While this is not the thread for future cast speculations, I think the Summer, Spring, and Winter/Fox liaison is over. To pick up your comment, Ginga, Rick did seem kinda burned on the whole thing. The proloooooooonged dance of desire (or whatever between Mungo and Fox (will they or won't they?) became tiresome. Besides, Keene and Breel had original claim to checking that narrative box. The episode where one of the angel-dogs wollops Fox also struck me as overwrought, gratuitous and excessive (Again, I have to admit, Spring and Summer wore out their welcomes with me long ago - they kinda flunked the "so what?" test).
The K9s, I think will be back, because it's an inexhaustable motif for satire and stories. Fox, too, will probably return as, I suspect the libidinous and over-solicitous Mungo. I also wonder why Rick has yet to attempt the achingly inviting arc of having a female or non-canine character attempt to join the Force. We'll see.
Oh, yeah, Dallas. Maybe he could play straightman to Tiger's lunacies as a break from the "Nerds" team, although I'd had to see Marvin disappear. He, too, has real possibilities that never quite emerged after Tiger faded and Zach went on to the Treehouse venue. Does Zach's family even notice he's missing?

Re: Dallas
I would not want to see Marvin's role taken by anybody else as that means that there is no hope of us ever seeing him again so I don't want Dallas involved with Tiger if Tiger comes back. If its a choice between Dallas and Marvin, I would choose Marvin.
Re: Dallas
Yeah, on reflection, Marvin makes a better straight man. I've also thought that Marvin and Max could be an interesting duo, more perhaps as a rivalry than a partnership - Max being the bon vivant devil-may-care tease as he is with Bino and Marvin being the serious, sober, put-upon counterpart who sometimes wins the game. Sort of like the old The Fox and the Crow comics from the 50s.
Crumbs, I'm old.

Maybe Dallas could become a desk clerk for the K9s. Suspect Terrance has been deported.

I don't think that Rick would go there with this comic even if he is very politically opinionated. I think he would strive to just make sure this comic is a fun little slice-of-life one and not bring in too many serious topics for it.
Re: Dallas
Oh, I agree. I assume it would be like the custom among the animals in Wind in The Willows where someone might occasionally disappear but their absence is never to be mentioned aloud.
Beside, after a single walk-on many years back, Terrance has, like Daisy, Griswold, Yeltsin, and Res, never reappeared.

I mean I don't think that we will see the latter three ever again in the series but Rick could easily dig into Daisy's personality and have it be revealed to everybody that she is a lot smarter than just saying her name. Rick hinted at it during the arc where Sasha was brainwashed so he could follow up on it so everybody knows and her role could be fleshed out more in other appearances.

I doubt we'll see much of Daisy again. Her last appearance was pretty much the punchline to her whole joke.

Re: Dallas
If that is the case then that is a shame because I think seeing a smarter and scholarly Daisy would be really cool and then when you least expect it she pulls out her old gimmick which she can use to avoid answering tough questions. I kind of was wishing for Rick to go in the direction that we would never know what Daisy we would get when she appears.
Re: Dallas
Well, don't want to ride a dead pony, but I've often remarked on comic themes Rick has left unexplored. Like Fox and Mongo or Tiger and Marvin, I've always thought a pairing of Daisy (smart, eccenric dog) with Sasha (ditzy but not so dumb) dog has a lot of comic potential.
Hard not to agree, though. Daisy is, sadly, dispensible like many of the original cast of the first six or seven years.

Since we obviously aren't going to see Daisy again but we might end up seeing Sasha, I do wonder if we might see more of Sasha's smart side and the gag of being smart much more of the time before saying something that makes someone out to be an airhead randomly might end up going to Sasha though as it would still be pretty funny.
Re: Dallas
Sasha's pretty unique so I suspect she'll returned. I'd like to see Rick find ways to expand her range of activities besides being arm-candy to Kevin (whom I would not miss - he's pretty much a boorish caracature).

I honestly want to see more sides to Kevin besides the dumb muscle aspect of his character because I am sure that there is a bit more there. He does seem to be a bit more aware of things then we give him credit for and isn't totally a moron.

You say that now forgetting that he and Sasha actually had a whole conversation about how their dog license means they can only drive cars shaped like dogs.
Then again, he WAS aware enough to get Sasha emancipated when King couldn't even convince her she was in a bad place to begin with...
