I never stopped reading Housepets!; it stopped writing to me.

I stopped reading Housepets once. I discovered the comic in High School. At the time, I had a routine of almost 50 webcomics that I would cycle through. I knew what day each would update, and it would take me a half hour each day to go through and read them all.
And then my laptop broke, and I lost all my bookmarks. I never bothered recovering all my comics because, at the time, I was working 50 hours a week at an unnamed roast beef chain and I just didn't have the energy.
It was just over a year ago when I rediscovered Housepets, and my attention has been locked onto it ever since. I don't remember HOW I rediscovered it. I think it just popped into my head and I decided to pop by the site and see what all was happening.

maybe some people start to lose interest in that comic because of the hiatus?

I know that there are definitely a few people that did leave the comic fandom because they thought the comic was over. When it restarts I have no doubt they will come back.

Even if it takes 5 or more years.

Coupla times when I was traveling, but since I started, I've been pretty routine. Used be a "make my day" sort of enjoyment. Now I have to depend on the duly-elected life forms for my sneers and chuckles.
