Melancholy: Dayzee is away for the time being as I got back to writing again. I need to get started doing the writing habit anyway as the big Five-Oh of Super Sentai is fast approaching.

Annoyance: Not getting any replies from the university about the internship (everything should be okay with the company I would go to so everything depends on the uni) and it's getting more and more frustrating as it seems impossible now to work 6 weeks in a row due to my trip to Prague in August.
(And I'm a Hungarian who follows the Euro so I'd rather stay quiet about the joys)
I dunno, just imagine something funny here

My condolences, Ginga. We still mourn Sophie, our shetland collie, who went her way about two years ago. There's a special kind of melncholy that attends the loss of an animal companion.

Historic Horrors in the Making: Political Violence as Trump nearly died from a assassination attempt. Say what you will about the man, I am absolutely livid that a history took a turn for the most horrific times we're currently living in.

Also, I'm not going to say anything else about the matter because everyone outside the forums is talking about it and I still teed off that it have come to Political Violence in general.

We don't need another political assassination. But then again, what do I know? I still live with my family and I don't think things are going to get better any time soon.

Our daughter arrived on Tuesday and, Wednesday night, developed a mild fever, headache, and sinus trouble. Praying it's not Covid (Dirty little secret in this country - Covid has not disappeared as many want to believe).

My parents took Shiver's collar and leash with them to go meet a new dog they were looking into getting, just in case they brought her home. There's no reason why they shouldn't, of course; it's a perfectly good leash and collar. But it really hurt to see for some reason. It's been coiled up on her bed since her vet appointment a few months ago.

In grief over a pet, it's not uncommon for people to see their animal's possessions as embodying their companion's continued presence. It's not just a leash and a collar. it's Shiver's leash and collar! It's hers! If we're getting a new dog, alright, but can't we get him his own leash and collar! The apparent transfer of possession from Shiver to a new dog seems like a kind of crude, unfeeling erradication like uprooting a grave marker and using it for sidewalk pavement. I know your parents didn't mean to be insensitive, but sadly that is sometimes how people will react to the passing of an animal companion, as another way of dealing with the loss by rushing into creating a new companionship. What seem insesitive to some us is just another strategy to manage loss for others.

When we brought out Sophie's ashes home, we put them in a shelf in a cabinet case along with her collar, her tags, her leash, and a sheep doll that was almost as old as she was (of course a sheltie's favorite doll was going to be a sheep). Having lost her, we now hold to things that help us hold her memories that much closer. (Sophie's doll, which we constanty kept washed for her, carries just a wiff of her aroma and some of her hairs). We did not adopt the two dogs we have now for two years. They are good dogs. But ... I think of Sophie everyday and miss her still.

Saying good-bye is more of a process than we realize and, realizing that, the diffusions of our sorrow becomes the savoring of a wonderful companionship instead of a spiritual amputation. As it should be, or so thinks I. Again, my sincerest condolences on your loss, Ginga.

Annoyance: The site I subscribed to for my birthday which was a music chart archive site in order to do some research regarding hits on the Billboard Hot 100 rejected my subscription and refunded me.

...After waiting more than the 24 hours they said it WOULD take for me hear back from them.

This will sound snarky; it's not meant to. Except for relatively minor operations, most surgeries are accomplsihed while you are anesthetisized, while you are "knocked out" with sedation. Administerting the anesthesia can sometimes be painful - the doctors should (unless they're sadists or jerks) brief you before hand on the whole process and indicate where you "may expecrience some discomfort." ASK YOUR QUESTIONS DURING THIS PERIOD AND BE VERY, VERY DIRECT !! (Don't just ask "is this gonna hurt?", ask "where is it gonna hurt?" "What's it going to hurt like?" These are reasonable questions for a patient to ask.)

It's when you come out of the surgery and the anesthesia starts to wear off that the pain will begin. Now, the surgeons are supposed to tell you what they did, how they did it, how the healing process is supposed to unfold, and what the operation should accomplish. NOW is when you want to discuss pain and pain management.

God bless and good luck, Is.

Sweet Sorrow: I guess I'm going away for a bit since I gave my birth name outright. I don't know how long the break would last, but at the very least I'll come up with something to write of my own. Either that or I'll make sure to work hard to pay off my debts to society.

Joy: Getting a multitap or two this year, and when I finally start getting cash for my service to the family I can get whatever I see fit... as long as I have enough to pay for the stuff.

...More than happy to give anyone other than Amazon the time of day, unlike my family who have Stockholm Syndrome with Bezos.

The missus and my sister-in-law (my younger brother's widow) gave me an early Birthday present last night. We went to a minor league baseball game between the New Hampshire Fisher Cats and the Portland SeaDogs. After the game, they threw a fireworks show. Nice to have a little fun once and a while.

I am happy to hear that your tumor is benign and that the doctors will be able to do something for you Oded! Whenever you hear that someone has a tumor you end up drifting towards the worst case scenario even though you try not to.

Joy: had a great time at dinner and with my family last night and I am pleased to report that my stomach did not bother me like I was afraid it was gonna. :D
