Re: The Welcome Thread!
Hello everybody. I really just came here to make one silly comment, but, seeing as I've really enjoyed the comic so far I'll probably stick around a while.
I think my signature says most of what one needs to know about me... I'm a musician and nature lover, with a bit of science thrown in on the side. And if you get the reference in the first line, then... I'll be surprised. You're not really supposed to. And it's not about Spain.
I love stories about characters who aren't necessarily human -- that's what I like to write in music form and I like to see how different writers explore those perspectives in different ways. It's a shame that only a fairly small proportion of writers seem to see the value in creating something like that, but, life is life.
I'll quit my ramblings now that I'm into tautologies and aphorisms. All that's left to say is, I look forward to meating you all properly...

Hi. Someone linked me to the suirrel arc of this comic and i've been enjoying it a lot.
Is there anywhere to read about this universe without going through the entire gigantic comic backlog?
If not, a few questions:
It seems like the animals in this universe are people? Nobody seems to bat an eye at talking animals and they seem to wear clothing etc. Whats up with that?

Re: The Welcome Thread!
You might have the best luck going back and reading. The core of the universe is that animals are all sapient. Animals that have four paws in our are bipedal there. Hooved animals and reptiles still look like our universe but are also sapient and also can talk. The pets (dogs, cats, domestic rabbits, etc) are still pets. Humans are still in charge.Kaero wrote:Hi. Someone linked me to the suirrel arc of this comic and i've been enjoying it a lot.

There is a lot more detail, of course. But that's the basics.

Welcome to the forums, Kaero! Glad to hear you're enjoying the comic
There's a wiki that has info on everything there is to know. Also, there's summaries of every arc so far if you want the "abridged" version.

dr_eirik ninja'd me with a better explanation than I could produce, but yeah animals are intelligent, can speak, and some are bipedal, but humans run civilization.Kaero wrote:It seems like the animals in this universe are people? Hello, i'm Jixstun
I started reading the comic from about when King was introduced, & then went back to read it all from the start. Loved it ever since.
I finally decided to dip my toe into the forum water, & it seems like this is the best place to ask if there's anything a newbie like myself should know?
Other than the forum rules about respect & civility of course. I mean, those just seem obvious.
