Re: Art Thread
A pixel art commission I got from Ratte.
Those are the upscaled versions, and the gif was just a little fun thing she made alongside it. I really love how she used his eye color as the frame for the text box, and the gradient on the fur as it switches color tone is amazing.
Here's the original-scale versions:

With the right community, getting into a webcomic at the beginning of a brand new arc can feel just as enjoyable and rewarding as being there from the beginning.

Wow, this turned out really nice!

I think that the commissions there came out really awesome! I had no clue you were a squirrel either. I couldn't tell it from your avatar. I guess Diss now has another recruit for his sqrl army. XD
Re: Art Thread
Been working on this for the past couple days. Just felt like drawing up different drinks. I'll say, however, that the soda, root beer, and apple cider are all going to appear in Tails of Babylon. The former two were even based on random items that appeared in the comic.

Re: Art Thread
Nice job on all of these drinks for each of your characters! Who knew that Mirage was into chocolate milk? They came out awesomely done!
Though did you mean to spell soda as "soma"?

Re: Art Thread
Thanks. As to the chocolate milk, I thought it'd be funny for the literal demon to enjoy that. Also because of the juxtaposition of a canid enjoying chocolate.
And yes, "soma" was intentional. While coming up with names for items that would grant permanent stat increases in the game, went with items in religions, myths, and legends. Just added what I hoped was a "modernized joke" to it.

OK. I see where you got it now. It looks good. That was a nice job. I wonder what "Soma pop" tastes like.

what, i only know that term from videogames.
Most important thing I've learned from D&D?
No matter how tempting it may be, as a DM I can't both present a problem and solve it.
Every time a DMPC or NPC fixes something a payer couldn't i'm diminishing and undermining that player's contribution.

Re: Art Thread
I don't think that is the type that Mirage would drink since she only inflicts pain when someone tricks her into eating black licorice. XD
Re: Art Thread
Geez, what game was that, Buster. I recall "soma" in Persona 3 and later learned it was in various Shin Megami Tensei games as well. It was a healing item, I recall, the most common variant being "soma drop." No specific description, though.
I briefly wondered about the taste, decided it wasn't important enough eventually. Let's go with "your favorite drink."

I don't even like Twizzler's that much but just to think about eating black licorice makes my gag reflex go into overdrive.

The theme for Rick's patron sketches this month was "Showing Off".

Re: Art Thread
Made some violins. Since I made alternate horn styles for Mirage for the fun of it, decided to give Macabre the same treatment.
Memento Mori- Macabre's primary violin, a gift from his father, Halphas.
Heaven's Charm- Made from a disused harp. Sounds great, but Macabre was ultimately unhappy with how it performed.
Electric Daisy- Modernized mortal violin. Gets the job done.
Stradivarius- Probably the best violin available to mortals. Macabre has borrowed one from time to time.
Coral Breeze- Designed after a trip to the ocean with Mirage. Looks better than it sounds, unfortunately.
Glam Rock- Variant of electric violins that Macabre keeps around. sometimes he feels like adding a special sound to his pieces.
C'est La Vie- The Memento Mori infused with Macabre's own blood. Grants a much broader range of sound than the original violin.
C'est La Mort- Gretchen's violin. Capable of instilling any emotion into mortal souls. She uses it exclusively to torment them.
By the way, not intending any of these other than the original to be "canon" to the character. Side note, the Electric Daisy got it's name from a Lindsey Stirling track of the same name. Not my favorite by far, just felt like adding that name here as a reference. She has plenty of great tracks to choose from, definitely recommend a few listens.

t does really look like it could be a banjo in the picture could it? Also I'm thinking it could also actually be a guitar.
Re: Art Thread
Well, three don't have strings. Instead of spending time trying to figure out how they'd work with these designs, just decided "screw it, they're magic."Amazee Dayzee wrote:They all look very nice! Minor issue in that I can't see the strings but that is no bother. Great job!

shrug I'm too attached to the basic design to go any different with it.Amazee Dayzee wrote:t does really look like it could be a banjo in the picture could it? Also I'm thinking it could also actually be a guitar.

That's fine. They all are still cool.
Re: Art Thread
Well, since I've done this for Mirage and Macabre, suddenly wanting to make some for those I can, starting with Nikolai. Briefly considered giving him different helmets, but settled on the heartpiece.
Sorcerer's Pact- should he make a deal with anyone, his heart is replaced with this. It contains a bit of blood from the one who made said pact. It allows him to both allow them a bit of his power, and also keep an eye on them. Should they use his powers for more nefarious reasons, he'll know and terminate the contract. He'll also terminate the contract if he learns of someone trying to make an additional pact alongside his.
Guarded Heart- Nikolai fashioned this one after Ermina helped him out during a rough time in his life.
Living Serenity- Fashioned when Nikolai wanted to give something other than necromancy a shot as a hobby. Didn't stick.
Burst of LIfe- Mortal-fashioned piece during a time he was being worshipped as a god of life and death. He put a stop to it quickly, but kept the piece.
Yearning Heart- A failed attempt at a new heart. Nikolai allowed himself to be distracted by thoughts of Sickle.
Bound Soul- An Infernal artifact that made its way to the mortal world, granting immense power to the sorcerer who wielded it. Nikolai was tasked to confiscate it. After severing its ties to Hell, he decided to keep it.
Necromancer's Heart- his default heart. Nothing special about it.
