Title Text: it's different when we do it
See, the key difference is whether or not they're fictional.

They already left at the end of The Maxwell Thing arc. Also, if they were going to play at one of their houses, Grape wouldn't have brought that to the spa.MrBlueSky7 wrote:Guess we now know which couples are leaving the Hot Springs first...

It's not over yet, though. Which means, unless the arc is going to end just in the next page or so, the actual weird bit is yet to come.HellishK9 wrote:Everything's resolved. Everything came a bit fast and is still a bit confusing, but it's resolved.
Something about this has always bothered me. Res should have gotten a good bit of cash from the movie rights from his book(s) but he still can't afford a plane ticket.Champion Wallace wrote:Romantic Pridelands works both ways.
Unless pets aren't allowed to buy plane tickets themselves, never mind actually take a seat.fenrirblack wrote:Something about this has always bothered me. Res should have gotten a good bit of cash from the movie rights from his book(s) but he still can't afford a plane ticket.
I think the Polyamorous relationship between the four of them is meant to be the weird ending here. I mean there could be one last twist or the arc could go on another week but I don't think either is likely. I mean it is possible though, what that twist would be at this point (outside of my dream possibility that I brought up the last page, which I think is unlikely mind you) I have no idea.leinglo wrote:Saturn381 wrote:Well Rick did say this was going to end weird. It's not over yet, though. Actually, they are still there. Otherwise, why else would there be a half naked Mungo walking by in the background a few panels ago?Champion Wallace wrote:They already left at the end of The Maxwell Thing arc. Maybe he’s kinda like Scrooge McDuck and while he definitely has the money, he’s pretty stingy about paying for it when anything cheaper is availablefenrirblack wrote:Something about this has always bothered me. I thought it was a commentary on the price of airplane flight by saying even if you write a fantastic book series that gets movie adaptions, you still won't be able to afford a seat. If you want to start a discussion about that strip, there is a thread for that.fenrirblack wrote:Something about this has always bothered me. Max and Grape were at the spa, they left the spa, and then they returned to the spa.MrBlueSky7 wrote:Actually, they are still there. I take a wild guess and say his allowance doesn't allow itfenrirblack wrote:Something about this has always bothered me. 1. Technically it wasn't him who got the money. Remember it's his owner that's credited as the author. Res probably gets a significant allowance in pet terms, but...fenrirblack wrote:Something about this has always bothered me. 2. The Housepets world is still pretty creepy about animals, they probably only allow pets in the main cabin if they're service animals or something.
I...don't think that was ever implied.Yamitora1 wrote:wait, so tarot is bisexually attracted to grape?
Max talked about a relationship based on a mutual romantic interest in a 3rd party.SeanWolf wrote:I...don't think that was ever implied.Yamitora1 wrote:wait, so tarot is bisexually attracted to grape?

I think what Max means it that it bothers him that Tarot and Peanut rekindle their relationship, because of the relationship between Grape and Peanut.Toboe wrote:Max talked about a relationship based on a mutual romantic interest in a 3rd party.SeanWolf wrote:I...don't think that was ever implied.Yamitora1 wrote:wait, so tarot is bisexually attracted to grape?
The only 3rd party that Peanut has any romantic interest in is Grape, meaning that Max is saying that Taroh also has a romantic interest in Grape.
That would mean that Ms. Auburn is just really stingy about the money they get.Argent wrote:1. Technically it wasn't him who got the money. Remember it's his owner that's credited as the author. Sure, they're walking-talking sapient beings who can get sent to the pound if they're not on leash, or randomly relocated by animal control. There's no way this isn't creepy.NHWestoN wrote:It isn't entirely clear how much of the world outside Babylon Gardens mirrors Babylon Gardens in terms of how "humanized" other pets are and how people interact with them. They were also accompanied by a billionaire. All that really says is that if you have enough money you can make new rules. Billionaires are nominally human. Also, PETA exists in the BG universe, granted everyone in BG seems to treat them with the scorn they deserve, but the fact that they are still out there is troubling.Argent wrote:Sure, they're walking-talking sapient beings who can get sent to the pound if they're not on leash, or randomly relocated by animal control. That's honestly poor business strategy if that's true. I mean if you have the money, billions or not, you should be able to buy something as simple as a plane ticket no matter who or what you are. Money is universal.Argent wrote:They were also accompanied by a billionaire. All that really says is that if you have enough money you can make new rules. Billionaires are nominally human. To be fair, most of the pets don’t work, so them not having money for the plane tickets is also nearly universal as well. I mean let me remind you, Max had to use a quarter to try and bribe someone to sell him catnipfenrirblack wrote:That's honestly poor business strategy if that's true. "Yeah, but... pets go with the cargo. They're animals. If we give animals a seat in the plane, that means a human would have to lose their seat. And I mean, we're the ones who invented planes, and we're the ones who keep these flights running. Why should we prioritize pets' comfort over our own?"fenrirblack wrote:That's honestly poor business strategy if that's true.
