There are some you trust to reply
and one that you just don't;
some that you know know how to comply
and one you know that just won't.
There are those that you really most fear
and one that you count the less.
There are those you visibly love here
and one who's harder to express.
The family that you wanted you've got
with one other on the side;
You hold all their faith in this plot
even if, with one, it's denied...

It's Jack. Hypothetical Jack is saying: "I wasn't going to respond to you calling out for everyone else in a voice that clearly indicates you're searching for everyone, but now that you've said my name specifically, I'll totally respond."
Yes, we all came to the wild to show we haven't forgotten how we're not supposed to call attention to ourselves when there might be dangerous predators loose

Huh, Miles, why are you calling Jack so silently? Are you ashamed of something? Poor Jack. And, for Daryl you shout more. However, now is Gale who's hearing and coming to you...
Even from inside a cave a howl would carry pretty far.
Come to think of it, I don't think we've ever seen any of the wolves (or dogs for that matter) even mention howling as a thing. Maybe it's not in this universe.

It's an in-development animated series following a team of Anthro-Dogs trapped in the Wastelands of a ruined Earth.

Yeah, but they wouldn't see the moon to howl at it.

Depends on what direction the cave entrance faces. Judging from the strip where we first see the pit, the mouth of the cave is just above the pit, so if the moon passes the cave mouth, they would see it at some point.

That would be sound advice, if not for the fact that this predator has teleport-behind-you powers anyway.
It might, perchance, be do to the fact that "Four Finger Discount" Jack has a penchant for stealing things and in general isn't the quite what one would call trustworthy, putting himself before others and such. If Miles were really hoping for a wolf to respond, I can see why Jack might be at the bottom of that list.
