In one strip, during which Calvin shows off his Transmogrifier, a device that transforms its user into any desired shape, Hobbes remarks, "It's amazing what they do with corrugated cardboard these days."[49] Calvin is able to change the function of the boxes by rewriting the label and flipping the box onto another side. In this way, a cardboard box can be used not only for its conventional purposes (a storage container for water balloons, for example), but also as a flying time machine and a duplicator. In addition, Calvin uses a cardboard box as a desk when he is attempting to sell things. Often, Calvin's merchandise is something that no one would want, such as "suicide drink," "a swift kick in the butt" for one dollar, insurance,[50] or "frank appraisal of your looks" for fifty cents. In one strip, he sold "happiness" for ten cents, which was a water balloon in the face, revealing that Calvin meant his own happiness. In one comic strip, the box has also functioned as a secret meeting place for G.R.O.S.S., as the "Box of Secrecy".
小男孩Calvin時常用瓦楞紙箱進行冒險〈當然是幻想的〉，每次的紙箱功用都不同。有一回他把紙箱做成「變形機」，可以把使用者變成任何想變的模樣，老虎Hobbes還讚道「現在的瓦楞紙箱真是功能強大。」
Calvin只要改變紙箱上的標籤、或是把它翻到另一面，就能改變紙箱的功能──因此他的紙箱不僅僅是容器，還可以變成時光機或是複製機。
有時候他會把紙箱當桌子，就著麼做起生易來，賣的東西通常都沒什麼人要，比如說「自殺飲料」、「一塊錢讓你踢我屁股」、「保險」〈保什麼就不知道了〉、「五十分錢換一個對你面貌的簡單評價」。
有一回他以十分錢出售「快樂」──即是拿水球砸在臉上。也讓讀者明瞭Calvin個人的快樂是什麼。
還有一次他把紙箱當做「G.R.O.S.S.」組織的場所。
