Socks is mulling over Kaylee's words when the cat kisses him. Straight away all thoughts are flushed from his mind and his depression is temporarily forgotten, a fact that's probbly blatantly obvious to the chinchilla outside.
"I... I... We should go... The police..." he stammers, following the group of pets with Kaylee. When he thinks she's not looking though, he can't help but touch a paw to his tingling face and smile a little.

~~~~
"Oh, hey, Yenthid and Retlaw! You guyth coming with uth?" Sandy greet the toony pair as unbeknownst to him Holly lands on each of their shoulders and whispers a greeting before hopping back tom Amanda's shoulder.
Socks rubs his eyes in shock as he takes in the sight of the mouse.
"Why do I feel like Sylvester all of a sudden?" he mutters to Kaylee. "That's gotta be some sort of kangaroo, right?"
"Nope," Kaylee said with a grin, "that's what I meant by 'little more obvious', Socks. Humes don't seem to notice, though," she added in a quieter tone. She swallowed and calmed herself before taking her new rod and stepping towards the door. "OK, guys, let's go meet the locals," she said.
He waited and, eventually, she spoke. "I don't think Humans have the same desires as some of us animals, Bon," he said in reply. "Those of us who have things to do want to be busy as much as possible but... I have neighbors who work but I see them at home each weekend and, often, a day in the week too. They call it 'me' time. Time to unstress and relax or something." He thumbed metaphorically towards the rest of the station. "These guys need days to do what takes us half an hour and they probably reckon you need the days too, Bonnie, yeah? They're not trying to hurt you. It's not that they don't trust you. I think they think you need a little time off." he leaned in a little closer. "And I think it's a statement of character that they had to order you, Bonnie, I really do."
"I don't think I could spend a whole day doing nothing without going stir-crazy and chewing something apart, let alone more than one." Bonnie huffed, crossing her arms and scowling at the walls. though her expression lightens a bit when she hears the comment about needing to be ordered. after a bit her smile is back but it's more mischievous now, and she comments, "Maybe I should do that anyway, they wouldn't leave me behind then." in an exadgerated tone.
It's socks, from the pound. Apparently he's explaining how he's a magnet for depressing - WOAH. DID SHE JUST... GROOOOOOSSSS! sandy derails her own message half way through, distracted by the fact that Kaylee just kissed a guy, which to her, is just weird. Because kid logic.
Noah nodded along with her thoughts, chuckling to himself at Sandy's reaction to the two cats little moment together."Do you think we should go introduce ourselves. Seems Kaylee's already revealed the big secret if he's explained his side already. I don't think it'd hurt the situation much to go and say hi."
"What," Jake asked conspiratorially, leaning in close and grinning like a loon, "chew something up?" He straightened up. "I couldn't possibly encourage such behaviour but, if there were a piece of furniture you particularly hated, how could I, a mere Bunny, stop you?"
"Well, I suppose it'll have to wait till I don't have an audience then." Bonnie commented quietly, exaggeratedly making a show of looking around for people watching. 'Convincing' the others not to leave her behind could wait, she had company."Right, we... uh, what were we doing again?"
"Think you're right, Sandy" Kaylee said blithely, keeping hold of Socks' handpaw to give him courage. "Can you ask Amanda if her dad knows about her skills, bro? Tell you why in a bit." She looked up at the incoming siren. "Here's the Fire Brigade." She nudged the canine in the side as the neared the car. "I wonder if Bonnie's with them?"
------------------------------------------------------------------------
"We were..." Jake's ears popped straight up and, in a move, he hopped to the door, opened it and hopped out of sight, only to reappear a second later.
"Hackle's gone," he said, a little confused. "I wonder why he did that? I don't even have his number. Huh. Well, we WERE taking a tour... I suppose we need to look for him."
Amanda turned to Yensid and Retlaw as her group left the shop, "Sorry, we'll have to meet up later." She followed after her friends and father, beginning to feel nervous from the sight of the police walking around and investigating. The frost wanting out was starting to take a light toll on the cat from how long she'd been suppressing it. As her vision panned across the view until it settled on Kaylee and Socks, feeling some relief at the fact some positive progress had been made, but that relief was followed by a surge of self doubt. Amanda let out a low sigh, and spoke barley more than a whisper as she gripped her bows packaging, "Inutilis."*
She stopped next to the car as her father turned to the others, "Alright, is everyone ready and accounted for?"
Rig stood up and looked over the ledge into the alley way beside the pet shop. "Do you think we could slide down these pipes and come out of the side way? It would not draw attention. We would have to avoid the police any way out of here though."
------
Noah looked over at Rig and then back to Sandy. He shrugged, "I'm down with it. Best shot we've got unless we want to teleport," He motions at Rig, "Or if we want to lose them, because they're about to get in their car."
"We should probably check The dorms for signs of him first. we'll have to be quiet, but it's best if he not wake up one of the off-duty crews." Bonnie commented, shaking her head, before leading the way back through the day room to that section of the building.
Despite the time of day, it was dark over in that part of the station, snoring being faintly audible from one or two of the rooms it was divided up between. Rather than speak, Bonnie tried her best to guide Jake forward with hand signals and gestures, though they might be a touch hard to make out in the gloom.
- - - - -
Bounding over to Rig and giving him, or at least part of him thanks to the size difference, a hug, Sandy is down to the ground in no time.
You know, if I couldn't feel you nearby, you'd make quite the ninja.
Socks, and Kaylee would probably feel a sudden interruption of Uh, hey, can you stall for like two minutes?
The message had only been meant for Kaylee in truth, but sandy had forgotten that she had originally locked onto Socks.
Kaylee had been putting her new rod in the boot ((Or trunk)) and straightened up, slamming her head into the underside as she received the message. She felt Socks' handpaw tighten around hers slightly in the second before the impact so she spoke. and wind whistled down past the shop. "Frassnabbit... Ow! Uh, guys," she said, "we need to hold on a mo. I think I smell a Chinchilla incoming."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Of course." With uncharacteristic skill and stealth, Jake moved between the sleeping firefighters, searching for his errant friend without much success. He waved a hand in front of his muzzle as a more concentrated wind than Kaylees' came from one of the sleeping figures. He moved away, his midnight blue fur blending into the darkness as he checked the rest of the room before returning to a doorway so Bonnie could see him in the slightly better light.
Rig chuckled and slid down the pipe, absorbing the landing at the bottom, "Maybe. I am not very good at climbing. Are we planning on sneaking past all of the people?"
----
Noah followed suit, sliding down the pipe and landing next to the two. "I think Rig's too big to be a ninja. Not very small and stealthy when everyone can feel your footsteps. But you can teleport and I imagine you could make them feel calm enough to not worry about it." He surveyed the crowd of people, police and firemen, "I think we're going to have to. Maybe our friends can create a diversion so we can slip on past, or well just have to play it off as if we're just out for a stroll."
--------
"Hah. I have been working on some spells, but they are a little more strenuous to hold for a long time. I need to find a way to make them less so." He points to the space under the fire truck, behind the crowd, "I might be able to get us to go under there."
As Amanda and her father waited to make sure everything was in order, she heard Kaylee's question to Sandy and quirked an eye brow, "Uh, my father knows... I'd probably be worse than I am now if he didn't. Any reason why you'd need to know right now or were you just curious?"
Kaylee chuckled slightly as she rubbed the back of her head. "Oh, it's nothing much, Amanda," she half lied, her voice loud enough that the rest of her group could hear. "I just wondered how loud I should say Socks has a power, that's all." She looked to the tuxedo cat. "You can trust them," she said encouragingly.
"Pfft!" Sandy snorts rolling her eyes at rig's initial comment about sneaking, before she takes off full tilt through the parking lot, well before he and Noah can finish their conversation about plans of action, and in full view of everyone.
"INCOMING!" is shouted a fraction of a second before something small and overly fluffy crashes into and latches onto Amanda in a hug.
"Hi."
"Wait, a second, Chris, isn't that the same group of pets from the pound?"
"the heck? that's weird..."
After checking her side of the dorms, relying mainly on her nose in the gloom, Bonnie too headed back to the door to meet up with Jake. "I'm pretty sure he's not here." she commented in a whisper as the two slipped out, "we just came from the gym, and I don't smell anybody in the Day room right now... Where else would he be?"
Jake reached over his head to scratch the left side of his neck with the fingers of his right handpaw before half smiling. "Weeeeellll," he said eventually, having no confidence in the story, "he's a Kitsune so... perhaps he's gone back up to the... spirit realm?" He looked almost hopeful that Bonnie would agree with him, even though he knew it was impossible.
Rig and Noah both gave each other a glance as Sandy raced off. Noah went out first with Rig following closely behind him.
"Hey guys!" Noah said, "Seems it's already been an interesting day and it's barely noon." He turned to look at Socks and gave an overly formal bow in jest, "I'm Noah. I remember you from the pound. Socks, wasn't it? Good t'see you're finally out of jail." He grins at his own joke.
Rig shows up next and greets everyone with a smile, "I will agree, it is looking like the fun has already started." He introduced himself to Socks as well, reaching out a paw to shake, I am Váfuðr, but everyone calls me Rig since the other name seems difficult for people to say. It is good to meet you." He gives the cat a small smile.
"We're all here, Mithter Amanda'th Dad." Sandy answers the human. Distracted by that he doesn't pass on Kaylee's question but fortunately for him Amanda answers it anyway.
"Tho where are we going to go?"
Socks' head snaps up and his paw squeezes Kaylee's as the chinchilla's voice echoes in his head but not his ears.
"What th- Wait. One of you is telepathic? Great. Just great. No privacy for months in the pound and even less now that I'm out." he grumbles as he drops his scratching post into the boot with Kaylee's rod. He facepaws as Kaylee yells out about his power but stays quiet and says nothing as the rest of the group arrives.
"Hi Thandy! Hi, Rig!" Sandy wags before glancing at Noah. "Noah." he greets coolly before looking back to the wolf and chinchilla.
"Hey, you guyth thmell of thawdutht. Whatcha been up to?"
Socks tips a brief nod at Noah and stares at Rig's giant paw for a brief moment before shaking it.
"Socks. Hi." he says simply.
Amanda was silent for a moment after Kaylee revealed Socks' ability, "You know? I feel like I should feel more surprised. OOOHF!" She exclaimed at the end as the chinchilla tackled her with a hug, causing her to stumble back slightly, frost starting to escape from her as everything started to press against her self control of holding her power back, "Uh, hi Sandy, how're you?"
Amanda's father chuckled, "Hehe, Ah say welcome to ya. Guess my Amanda wasn't kidding, maybe this is the most magical place on earth. Well, you three sadly picked a bad time to reunite with your friends. As you can see." He gestured to the police inspecting the area, "I'd offer a ride, but already have quite a lot of passengers." He turned to Socks,"You know, Ah find it kinda funny you have magic in you. My entire family, both man and pet, are knee deep in the stuff. Was going to tell ya, at right time. Mainly because I'm not sure how'd you react to the Matriarch."
Amands's father looked across everyone, "Okay everyone. I'd say short time for socialization is fine but we should make haste and follow the police man's orders of leaving the area, at least soon."
Noah's smile might as well have fallen off his face and onto the floor at Sandy's reaction to even his presence. He didn't even know what he did. He'd tried to make amends but it just did nothing but make it worse. Even worse, Sandy still hated him. His voice, his mannerisms directed at him, all of them read loud and clear. Just as useless as before, now he couldn't even make friends. ... What if everyone else secretly hated him, they just didn't show it. He turned to the others and forced a smile onto his face, those feelings would have to wait. He needed to sort this out, one way or another he had to fix this. He sighed and turned toward the group, "Yeah. We, uh, we actually came out to find you..." He tried to hide his disappointment but every time he thought about it, it just became harder.
---------
Rig smiled and gripped the cats paw, practically engulfing it with his own. "It is good to meet you." He released the cat and turned to Sandy dog, "Sandy and her father needed help to move a frame for a project they were working on. Me and Noah go to their house to see if they wanted to go meet up with you. So we helped them move it before we left." he shrugged, "I think they had just finished putting it together so it still smelled like sawdust." He threw a glance over his shoulder at Noah when he heard the cats change in voice. He lifted an eyebrow but otherwise showed no outward concern. "Have you been shopping all day?"
Noah gave her a weak smile and nodded slowly, Y-yeah... He's got a nice place, smaller, but it's nice. He keeps it a little cold, but I guess that's just him." He chuckles, "He's a good cook, surprisingly. Lots of meat, 'cause, y'know. Did you know his house barely has electricity, there's like 2 outlets in the whole place. I've got some crews, who are probably at his house installing more outlets, internet and putting in new appliances. But it's been a good day..."
"That... Makes about as much sense as anything else..." Bonnie admitted slowly, walking ahead of Jake and peeking into the training room and the offices on the way back towards the garage anyway. With all the crews out now save for the one in their bunks, the place was a ghost town. "It's just weird not being able to smell a trail out..."
- - - - - -
"Hi Sandy!" She answered back in nere perfect sync with the similarly named canine.
Right, because reading everyone in sight but not wanting to be read isn't being a massive hypocrite. Sandy answers back to Kaylee, privately, before disconnecting from her. Looking over she squints ans sticks her tongue out at Socks, making a somewhat drawn out squeak, before disconnecting from him. Then out of spite putting up a filter on her own mind to keep Socks out, one on Noah as well, via their link a moment later.
There. She thought to herself, Confident it had worked. Sure she was a bit rusty, but that had always done the trick back at the lab. Then again, her abilities hadn't interacted in predictable ways with Noah or Rig, so who knows if this was going to work. And, she couldn't check to see if he was still using his own mental abilities while it was up, since it was fixed on him... hmmm... I did not think that through... Oh well, deal with it later.
Speaking of mental shenanigans, It was only a few seconds, but that might be disorienting for Noah since she forgot to warn him before connecting, and the whole shared senses thing those two have when linked...
Turning back to Amanda, she starts to rapidfire, "OhImDoingOkayIHadAReallyBusyMorningButItsAllGoodNowThanksToRigAndNoahsHelp, SoWhereAreYouGuysHeadedNextMaybeWeCanTakeTheCartoonsAndMeetYouThere?" while letting go and hopping down.
Noah suddenly felt a bit ill, but by the time he went to tell someone it was gone. He sat, perplexed by the sudden feeling before it clicked. Was that you? He asks Sandy. I mean, I can't feel socks so I'm going to assume it was you. Mental barrier? Thanks, I think. We don't really know what he can do so it's a nice safety net to have. Thanks.
Rig on the other hand, had no such shielding and while it wasn't necessarily any stronger or weaker, he didn't feel a different kind of tugging sensation in his mind. One that was new, that he hadn't felt before and it was a bit confusing. He directed his thoughts towards Sandy, It is like there is another you in my head. But it does not feel like you..." He thought his concerns to her, hoping for an answer.
"Perhaps she's on another call? Ah," Kaylee shrugged, "I'm sure we'll see her later. As for where next? I don't really know. Any thoughts Noah? Sandy?"
"Well then, Acting Senior station officer Bonnie," Jake said, leaping down the coridoor and twisting to land facing the way he'd come, "what do you wish to do in your time in charge? We can check Hackle's Den later. I think it's the same place we met him yesterday but, if we can't leave we might as well have fun."
"The second part!"
Yensid kicks his feet very lightly, enjoying the feeling of being tall.
"Where were you guys headin' anyhow?"
Rig shrugged, "I do not know. I am sure that the people who Noah called are at my house doing... Whatever it is that they are doing."
-------
Noah thought for a second, scratching at his chin, "I dunno. Anyone have anything they need to do?"
Socks is confused at the chinchilla's reaction to him. He holds up his paws and raises his shoulders in a "What?" gesture, asking the same question with his mouth as he does so.
Sandy ponders where to go next, tapping a claw on his teeth as he thinks.
"Well... I need a new bag. Tho we can walk down the thtreet and thee what thsopth we can find. Or we can go thee the matriach like we were going to yethterday. Or we can go to the park or to thomeone'th houthe and play a game of thomething." he suggests.
"Ooh right! We were going to go see the matriarch." Noah chimed in, "We should probably do that before she leaves. Everyone seems to have their questions sooo... Maybe that would be a good idea. Rig we can get you a phone later. Actually! The store should be open, it wouldn't take very long. We could get our shopping done first and then go see the matriarch." He looked around the crowd as he spoke.
--------
Rig looked at Noah and simply shrugged. He didn't really have anything planned for today and nothing came to mind that would need to be done.
With each time Rig shrugged, a small giggle was produced from Retlaw, while Yensid let out a small yelp of fear.
"E-Easy there, big guy."
"Oh, come on, Yen! That was fun!"
Amanda's father stroked his chin in thought, "Well, if ya need to get a new bag, Ah could take what we've gathered back to the house, and once you're all done we can gather at the house, get Socks settled in and wait for the Matriarch for ya to ask whatever questions ya want. It's whatevah you all want."
Amanda's ears twitched as other's covered the question well. She looked at her new bow, still in it's packaging, and decided to put it on. She carefully removed it from the packaging and started tying it around her left ear, struggling to do so, unused to the new bows size and material compared to her old one and how it related to her ear's shape. She slowly became frustrated and embarrassed by her failure, but tried to focus on putting it on.
Unbidden, Kaylee stepped forward to help her friend adjust her bow. "There ya go," she said, pulling a paddle mirror from her pocket so Amanda could judge for herself. "Looks like you're a star, Amanda," she said happily.
"Well, Technically I'm not acting anything, since there's always someone in one of these offices," She comments pointing over her shoulder at the doors on the opposite side of the hall from the training room and day room. "and the 'cant go anywhere' bit was kinda part of the 'still on duty' act... It's not actually true..." she continued, looking embarrassed and glancing anywhere but at Jake.
- - - - -
Pretty sure socko has some kind of mental ability. Every time we've run into him his heads been full of things that aren't his. She answered back mentally, before getting derailed by rig, Wait, you feel... What? HOW?! I cant even feel that!
Out in the physical world her focus was on the cat in question, Noticing with some satisfaction socks confusion, she took it as proof the block was working as intended. Grinning at him mockingly, Though only when she could tell the others attention were on each other, rather than socks or herself, before she turned her attention back to Kaylee and company, "OhRightYouGuysWereGonnaTalkToHerAboutTheExplodeyThingWerentYou?" sandy wondered, Not really interested in this talk of matriarchs and whatnot, but asking about plans had gotten the others thinking about going different places, enough to pull the directions she needed, so mission accomplished. "Well, MeetingOldfartsIsntMyThingAndIveGotADeliveryToMakeAnyway, SoMaybeI'llSeeYouLater?"
Sending one last question to Noah while she waited for a response, So, Helping with the delivery, or going with them?
((Edited due to a lack of somebody being sufficiently childish and immature towards a certain cat. I kind of forgot to have her react to him at all...))
