Roux smiled, bowing to the bartender. "In this case I used minute amounts of manchineel sap, distilled under a full moon, blesed through ancient rites. It was only just enough to feel warm as it effects your nervous system, while just ten times as much would cause severe pain if not properly cared for, though only for a few seconds." he smiled and waived his hand at the little vial with the tree label.

"Hm, I see. This explanation will add flavor to the drink's reputation as well. Say, do you think you can dose that stuff for humans and animals, respecting age, sex, weight and species? In other word, can you do a customized shot without killing the customers?"

Roux grinned and wagged his tail feriously, looking up at the bartender man. "Easy, because as a pup I learned how to dose out an undetectable lethal amount. I can get below it, for the nerve deadening flavor which makes you burn."

The barman nodded again. "There is one rule, when you serve, be it poison or not: customer is required, *no* exception, to give a droplet of blood to the analyzer set in the cart. Data are sent back to the smart glasses, plus the cart will keep tightly closed all those ingredients that don't go well with the customer's current health status. So it happens that, the stronger the drink, the longer between a glass and the other. Most of the times, they will manage themselves, but there will be times when you are required to entertain, yourself. Your lady said that you can do tricks and play music. Care for a test?"

Roux shrugged and nodded, understanding the nessesity of the whole thing. He would put ceremony into his drink making but first things first a show. He started by taking out his cards and quickly shuffling them in a showy manner. Than he grinned and started to play his trumpet initialising a rolling baseline in the computer around him. He played as he continued to use one paw and tail to move the cards fluidly around, switching paw to paw with the instrument as he didn't loose a beat. Once he came to a pause gender the trumpet down, initialising a pre-programed violin to take his place, and started to mix a drink while preforming basic card tricks, the last of which ended with a card being pulled out from in front of the drink, being showed to the bartender, and the drink handed his way as he began to jam slwoyl with the music on his trumpet.

The human just blinked, before remembering to take the glass. "Mister, go to HR and tell them I vouch for you. And I want *you* at my postation. Starting tonight."

Once he finished his set he smiled, setting his stuff behind him and into no-where again. "Whatever you say, kitty? What do you think of this development? Because I want to do some stuff around. I want your opinion."

Bullet took the pin out with his teeth before throwing it towards the horde of rats. He then grabbed onto Asur tightly as he shouted, "This better work!"

"As of currently, the city is connected with the island's natural freshwater reservoirs. So yes, there is much to drink here. Every fountain you see is available."

Two things happened at once. The grenade exploded, slowing down the swarm.
And the full force of the blast also finished what Asur's lasers had started.
And as the saurian droid climbed up the nearest manhole, that section of the tunnel started crumbling...

The manhole lid went up with a metallic bang as the droid's fist hit it. Asur came up just as a big section of the road behind him collapsed in a fountain of dust
"I think it worked, si!"

With the look on Bullet's face, you could've mistaken that he was getting presents for both Christmas and his birthday. "That was amazing!" he shouted before he did something a little unexpected. He hugged Asur! "You are my new best friend, you fantastic metal machine!"

Niner chuckled as he grab a very old book and scanned through it rapidly "well i can do that or scan each page. Sometimes i like taking my time though my computer may be able to store the entire history but it takes time compressing files and data" Niner said to max as he gives him a terminator comic book

Miguel decided almost instantly, mostly due to the fact that he remembered how the scenes swapped out so fluidly on a movie he watched closer to his activation; and he explained it thus, "The fly system has interested me for a while. I remember the smoothness with which scenes swapped from one to the next in such a limited time. Perusing the internet simply doesn't give the full effect."

"More likely, they'd turn you out into a nice slice of that," Asur replied, scanning in infrared, X-rays and ultraviolet. "They are defending the trove, armed to their teeth. 21 of them. The trove lays at floor four, right in the middle of the crossfire. Suggestions?"

Jemmy's eyes flashed. "System, set up: Roman Republic, first century b.C. Dictatorship: Gaio Giulio Cesare. Starting point: the market plaza." Then, to the psychiatrist. "I must warn you: The reconstruction is as faithful as possible, which means that the smells are going to be rather...unpleasant."
And so it WAS. The moment pet and anidroid found themselves surrounded by a crowd of men, women and animals talking and shouting in the plaza crowded with stands and kiosks displaying an assortment of vegetables, live animals in cages and other foods, the first thing that hit both noses was a *stench* made of unwashed bodies, of perfumes unable to hide that terrible mix to an unused nose and...less pleasant things that soiled the floor.

Bullet thought for a second on some of his options. "Well, I could try sniping some of them, but they'd probably notice me quickly, and if they're armed to the teeth, they probably have grenades and rocket launchers. Had we not blown up the sewers, we could've tried sneaking through there, but even if there's anything left of them, we'd most likely become a feast for those rats. Now that I think about it, I'm surprised that they didn't notice the explosion. Almost a little too conven-" Bullet didn't get to finish as human hand pulled him backward, then turned him around, about throw a punch...
Before Bullet was no longer in control.

A crack could be heard as the dog's fist connected to the man's jaw, suddenly sending him to the ground, but not unconscious. He would've said something, had the dog's other paw went and actually knocked him out.
The dog looked around at his surroundings, before they landed onto Asur, and he walked over to him.
"What did he do?" Boxer asked, surprisingly calm.

"Can't help but applaud them for their effort in realism though!" Avery yelled back at Jenny over the crowd and noises. Wow... one moment they were in a blank room and the next, well... this! Here she was in the hay day of the Roman Empire. Her eyes were saucerpan-wide as she took in everything around her. The sights, sounds and smell were all there, but she wondered... The canine's hand reached out to touch a passing pedestrian as they strode by.

Human resources was...well, a naked room.
Just that. a white-painted room, with just a table, a comfy chair and a pair of glasses on the table.
As soon as Roux walked in, the door slid closed. "Please sit down and put your glasses on," said an electronic, female voice

All of a sudden, Francis found himself...flying! The city, the forests, the whole island soon were under him, close enough to appreciate its full extension and its most prominent features though. Even the air felt as if he was at a certain altitude, minus the lack of pressure.
"Our esteemed guest can start anywere at their leisure, inside or outside the city. Purpose of this feature is to introduce them to their new home. The system can arrange their location in random mode or you may opt for them, at your preference, mortal."

She could touch things too! "Veeery interesting...". The dog mumbled, wondering how exactly this immersion was achieved. Avery shook her head a moment later. No, she couldn't think about that if she wanted to completely enjoy herself. So setting those thoughts aside she focused on their current conundrum. "Hmm... well it doesn't seem like we have any objectives of any sort...". She surveyed the area. "And the language barrier may be a problem too...". But right now they needed information, and if people wouldn't stop to talk to them then maybe... "Hey! Hello there!" The canine spotted a stall where a few caged animals were kept. She walked over to them with a wave of her paw and a swish of her tail. Maybe they'd have some useful information for her.

"Whoa," Francis said, wobbling as, all of a sudden, he was in the middle of the sky. Boxer merely shrugged in response. "Not fun," was the only thing he said about it. He looked around at his new surroundings and, seeing the dog and the other robot doing...whatever he and the first robot had been doing, he pointed at them and asked, "Friends?"

Suddenly, the tiny dragon transformed into a majestic beast, on whose back Francis found himself sitting. Then the dragon dived for the island, before settling to a more comfy position, allowing a wonderful sightseeing of the place. "The city was built with the aid of a chain of Magnetic Field Printers, powered by generators hidden in the military facility. The compound used followed the magnetic fields as programmed in the printers and solidified into a solid, self-sustaining structure. It could be theoretically destroyed by the application of a 3x more intense magnetic field or by a strong enough direct hit, but yes, Zilnawa could be re-built after new compound is provided and a new intake of energy used to power up the printers.
The dragon passed in front of the mountain that once ended up in an open water-filled crater and now was covered by a white structure connected to the base by a long set of stairs with statues of tribal cougars holding a spear in one paw, and braziers with fire crackling at their feet...

The naked room turned into a...an office. A veritable office with computers, file cabinets, papers, and a window that showed a skyline of buildings.
And a caucasian male human sitting at the other side of a desk. "Welcome. I am Thomas Ingerworth, Head of HR for Apollo City. Sorry if this may look...funny, but it is a more efficient way to run our business without having to be physically present. You are 'Roux', correct? No other name?"

"The genet is my counterpart, name's Jemmy. The other fleshbag is your shrink. He was talking with another of your in-head friends before Bullet took control. You not one who speaks much, eh?"

Roarin wrote:"Hello there Koto! My name is Avery and this is my friend Jemmy. We're... travelers of sorts." It was the best she could come up with... "Why are you all locked up in a cage?" Avery walked up to the meerkat's enclosure, hands politely behind her back.
"I may end up a pet, my brother did. The others, food and clothing." He chuckled. "You *must* be a traveler for not knowing that."

Boxer just shook his head no. Then, a little thought came into his mind, involving something the robot had said. He took a stance that suggested he was ready to fight as he asked, "He hugged you?"

Fan-fricken-tastic. Bullet had actually found someone he could call his best friend. Now the only question here was where the other two apocalyptic horsemen were. Not wanting to think about it too much, he asked that had been nagging his mind a little bit, "Location?"

"Yeah, it's funny but I can deal with it... Sir." Roux fidgeted slightly, un-used to being on good terms with humans, especially those with authority. "Yes, that is my name. Humans give their pets such funny names and... Well I learned to cook from humans and I needed a name. Is their... Issue with that.?"

"From a land far far away." Avery admitted with a gleeful grin. "You don't seem too phased for being inside this thing." The canine placed her hands on the cage of Koto's pet. "Very real feeling...". She mumbled.
"Anyways, think you could help a lost girl? Where do you suppose I could find the umm... Pantheon, or Collesium?"
"Sleep is due to me... And I have a dream to live."

A slowly rotating hologram appeared between the two.
"Supership Apollo City," Asur explained. "Thus called after the Consortium that designed her and built her. Maximum passenger capacity: 50,000, currently less than half, soon to be populated with 25,000 rescue animals. Maiden voyage. First destination: Meriweather Island, Atlantic Ocean, then the rest of the world. Nuclear- and solar-powered. Self-sustained. Maximum technology level in all applications. Many one passengers are known to be transhuman. Service crew composed by ani-droids."

"Oh, not at all, Sir. We just need references to pur on our records, if you are to be an employee. And your name will be cross-referenced with other databases as far as privacy laws go. Now please, put your left and right palm on the squares." Tiny panels slid open, revealing twin crystal surfaces.

Koto blinked at the last word. "Collesium? Not that I claim to be an expert, but I never heard of such a place. The Pantheon? There is such a place, but I've never been--"
"Forget that thing," the cat, a male with grey fur nicely covered in black lines of spots and stripes, grinned. "No one knows this city better than me. Get me out of this place and you get yourself a guide."
At that moment, Jemmy bent down to whisper into Avery's ear, "Asur just informed me that the personality of Boxer just took command. Their current game session is over, Boxer is questioning Asur about the ship."

...how had they managed to be here? Then again, the better question might be how they were allowed to be here. It's not like they were a mentally stable dog. The exact opposite, really, especially when you included Bullet. But, that obviously didn't matter now. Instead, he just asked, "Room?"

Francis fought to keep his food down as the Dragonsprite played at torturing him by diving at ninety degrees and playing at raising speeds. He hated VR. He hated the entire experience and how it pricked at the mind with its' illusions. It wasn't freedom. Not really. No matter how expansive it seemed, they were still in a box. "It's unbelievable technology," he said, meaning what he said. "I just wonder how long until someone weaponises it," he added, "uses it where there's already a city full of people and stuff like that. Anyway," he added, trying to sound more positive, "let's see what else this place has to offer."
