i push you off that same cliff and grab the win.
Most important thing I've learned from D&D?
No matter how tempting it may be, as a DM I can't both present a problem and solve it.
Every time a DMPC or NPC fixes something a payer couldn't i'm diminishing and undermining that player's contribution.

The building however was an elaborate trap involving copious amounts of cottage cheese. delaying you long enough that i can steal the win from your cheese-covered soggy and pinned form.

Unbeknownst to the stranger, a person was creeping up behind him with a baseball bat, and before he could realize it, he was knocked out and the win was taken from him.

But alas, the sweet nectar of victory was not so easily taken, for the stranger had attached a copper wire to the win. He sent an electric current, frying the 'new' winner. Tales reacquires what was rightfully his off of the ground.

Edit: This is like the cartoon electrocution, aside from some black fur, you'll be perfectly allright

A giant glowing hand plucks the win from your grasp before returning it back where it was originally taken from.

Wait, so you steal it, then give it back? In that case I hold my win tightly, and curl around it.
EDIT: Unless you mean THE ORIGINAL owner. In which case, I just grab it from that *apparent* corpse.

(after racing to the bottom of the cliff) I dry off the ORIGINAL win, which as soon as I acquire it, sends a beam of utter destruction to your win, which is erased from existence.

When I awaken, (assuming you ran away), I conspire with the dolphins, telling them that if they help me track down the win, I would give them fish. I find you in Babylon gardens, and I knock you on the head with grape's broom. I take the WIN, and use it's WIN powers to give the dolphins enough fish to prevent them from plotting world domination for at least a year.

Shoot's the 'win' with a modulating photon torpedo. The corrupt win is destroyed. Upon it's destruction, a NON-sentient non-ai win appears in front of me. I take it.
