Rule of Funny, Cartoon Logic, or Karishad. Take your pick of reasons. It's been stated multiple times that Kitsune never had an avatar for the game, as he was the Game Master (or whatever that was called, I don't do D&D) and doesn't get one.
Karishad's relationship with the universe IS Rule of Funny. When he's around, the universe bends to cause whatever happens to be funny at the time, without (many) lasting consequences.
I don't think this is a cop out- I mean, a dream. He was probably in court for tax evasion or something similar, given he was doing things like Theme Park World specifically to avoid taxes. How he died, though—if he actually died—is still beyond me.
It's difficult to wear gloves with webbed fingers...
When talking about a character, I often speak in D&D terms.
I'm participating in a forum game! You can find it here:
Now that I think about it, the problem with his visit in Heaven being just a dream (aside from the fact it wouldn't really make that good of a story) is that Keene's actually never seen Cerberus before. For him to know her precise look, voice and current occupation, it would have to be at least some kind of a vision.
Attributing it to this "dead sleep"... sure... but that would mean it could happen to any ferret. It could be a "method", but there has to be a different cause.
The nice thing about writing it this way is it can be a dream if Rick decides he doesn't want to pursue it, or something else if not. So it's a cop-out~ Not like this are always bad!

What if he woke up just then and dreamed all of it? Like... somehow his dream created an avatar for Heaven?

That's not a patch to cover a hole, it is a style of some blazers and sport jackets. There is one on each elbow.
