Lisitsan saw the man and puppy approach the double doors. Ecstatic to see his only friend in this new neighborhood, he bounded down the stairs towards the doors, awaiting the Ringing of the Doorbell.

The door next to him was slightly ajar, and the faint sound of Melinda typing at the computer in the front office tap-tapped out of it. He was glad she'd let him sit outside for a while, but he really wished she'd find a way to let him open his muzzle without it flopping about on the broken bone... He held up a paw and felt the bandages around it... He felt like there he'd had them on for weeks, even though he'd only gotten them a few days before...

He flopped back and closed his eyes: what a pain...

Xuan decide to continue anyway, but with precaution, he approaches the building, reaching one of the windows and tries to peek into it,
Hm... all furniture are arranged neat and nicely, and the place is clean too, doesn't seem like a criminal- He paused as he moved away from the window and saw a raccoon with his muzzle bandaged sitting right outside the building, *gasp* Who is that? Why is he here? has he being kidnapped or something? Who injured him?

He whistled, trying to grab the raccoon's attention.

Taku's ear twitched and he looked lazily up in time to see a dog come out of the bushes and look in through Jack's window. Huh...? What's he want? The dog started making funny noises at him. Taku tilted his head in confusion, What...? Is this some strange game that pets play? Does he want something??

But there's a lot of weird rules about when it can be used and how and why...mostly, others can't see you using it, unless it's a well known magic. Like, uh...mimes," Trinket said, twiddling his fingers. "Orrrrrrr fortune tellers, like my mum! The magic that each person can use varies from person to person...as for me, I specialize...in using charms!" Trinket tapped his collar, then sat back down next to Zeke. "Hey... how long do you think it's been? I went in to find Kytes, but...I got lost in your house... where do you think Kytes went? You think he's headed our way?" Trinket put his fist on his mouth, pondering. "Did we remember to close that trapdoor...?"

Despite seeing the confused raccoon, Xuan kept on trying to communicate with him, he starts to use "body language", animating his body and arms, (CHA 3) it would be a wonder if the raccoon can make out the message "What. Are. You. Doing. Here?"

Taku tilted his head the other way, What could he possibly be doing?? He looked back at the station's back door, Maybe I should go get Melinda? He rolled onto all fours, pulled himself up with a bit of a grunt, and started walking towards the door...

Jenny's dad rang the doorbell. A tune could be hears echoing through the house from the other side of the front door.

Jenny stopped prancing, awaiting for the door to be opened. She wiggled with excitement, smiling wide.

Zeke tilted his head. Rules? He listened longer, trying to make the connections in Trinkets speech. It seemed rather, disjointed for a moment. She said Rules again! … And magic…

“Wait, Trapdoor? No, I don’t think we did close it. I hope if anyone notices it, its Kytes though. I’d hate it if Shelly found out. She wouldn’t let me out of her sight!” He drew a small circle with his finger in the dust beside him. “So, what are these rules you keep mentioning? Is it against the rules for me to know? Can I meet your mom? …Do you think you could teach me... or something?"

"Weeeeeell, rules for magic are pretty simple," he said, holding up his index finger. "A) don't let non-magic users see you use it, or discuss it with non-magic users," he held up a second finger, "And b) don't abuse it or use it for evil. Of course, it gets a lot more specific than that... but those are the basics! And...yes, you'll have to meet my mum sometime! She'll be able to tell what you'd be good at with magic and stuff. Aaaaaaas for being against the rules...well, I was trying to figure that out. You can see magic, so you know it's there, but you didn't know it was magic, so I couldn't really say anything...it took me a long time to figure whether it was okay to say something." Trinket looked down and poked his own left foot. "Sorry..."

"Wait!-" he "shouted" out in low voice, seeing that the raccoon is already near the door, he stood still for a second, and then tries to peek through another window again.

Xuan saw a kitchen with a chunk of what looked like solid meat sitting on a plate on the table. Other than that, it was a pretty normal kitchen, like the break room of an office.

Taku went in and gave a tug at Melinda's trousers. She looked down at him, "What's up Taku? You wanna come back in?"
Taku shook his head and started pointing out the door and making confused gestures.
Melinda tilted her head, "Are... Are you trying to tell me something? Is there something out there?"
Taku nodded, pointing towards the door more. Melinda got up and he led her out. She was wearing her uniform green trousers and grey undershirt. Anyone who knew what a ranger was should've been able to recognize her as one. She looked off into the forest, away from Xuan, having not noticed him yet. "What did you see Taku? Is it still out there?"

Xuan waves back, while forcing a smile as he interacts with the stranger,"Hi... ermm.. no, I'm not lost, I'm just wandering around, since I'm new here, and I was curious about what kind of person lives in the middle of this forest..."

Xuan then take a good look at the outfit of the stranger, "hmmm, you look like a ranger, that kinda explains it... so... wait, you are here to "look after" the forest right? That would explains it further."

Taku was moving over to the dog to get a better look, rubbing his hand on his side as he walked over. He held it out to Xuan and waited for Xuan's hand...

Melinda nodded, leaning against the building, "Yep, Brookshire Forest Nature Preserve, the biggest area of actively protected land in the entire state! Taku here lives a little ways out in it, but he broke his nose while he was helping us the other day, so he's stuck here with the bandages for a while. I put them on him myself: I'm the preserve's veterinarian."

Taku gave a constructed sniff at Xuan's paw, trying to get the scent. "mid-age"? How old is this guy? He doesn't look much older than my dad...

"By the way," Melinda said, "Have you ever met Rikki? Taku's father? He's been hanging out in the development alot more lately... He looks like Taku here, only taller and older, you know him?"

Melinda tilted her head from side to side, "Well... I dunno about that... Rikki is Ranger Jack's 'pet', but he's really undomesticated. He sometimes spends whole weeks out in the forest where we don't see him, and he knows more about the forest than any of us: he grew up out there. Taku here isn't a pet at all: Rikki had him before we first found him. Rikki's about nine, and Taku here's about four. We've only had Rikki around for about two years now... If you wanna meet him anyway, maybe you should wait until they get back? They shouldn't be that late getting back from the zoo..."

Rikki shrugged, "Don't know, don't care. No one's bugged us about it yet, and the way I see it, we're not hurting anyone right now... Besides, I'm a service animal with a state-issue collar: people assume I'm not doing anything bad..." They came to a sign, and looked up at it. "Ok, so, you wanna go somewhere? The only word I know off this sign is 'Raccoon', so I'm assuming those are over there..." He pointed in the direction of the raccoon enclosures before looking at Frank, "So what should we go do?"

Frank scratched his head.

"It's kinda hard to explain. It'll make more sense when we get there. Which is here. So really I should say: it should make more sense now that you can see them." He pointed at the large, scaly, lizardy things floating lazily about but eyeing them with considerable hunger while evaluating the meat on their bones.

'Ze crocodiles swam closer. Rikki happened to be leaning over a part of the fence that was slightly closer to the water then usual.
"Well, not much to do in 'ere mate," said one croc. "Me girlies here aren't too interesting durin' the daye, and the fool zoo-keepah ain't scheduled to do a feedin' for awhile, so not much to do. 'Ow 'bout eu?" The croc drifted slowly toward Rikki, almost not moving but inching closer and closer.
