Here's my guess as to what's going to happen: Bino will come face to face with the gargoyle and will somehow defeat it, thus proving himself to be as tough as a wolf (at least tougher than Daryl was when he confronted one).

Wolves pick out their names, so that means those two willingly call themselves the same thing. I wonder if the other Daryl helped Daryl with his trials and he was so grateful he decided to name himself after the other Daryl, ironically making him the other the other Daryl.

On a related note, wolf naming is one of the coolest parts of the lore.
