From what I heard, Bubsy isn't that terrible. It's just forgettable and clearly an attempt to capitalize on the popularity of Sonic.

There seems to be a big difference to Europe. Satellite TV is just free of fees here as long as you don't want the special PayTV with their movie-, sports-, or whatever-packages.RandomGeekNamedBrent wrote:no, just like cable you need to pay a monthly fee to keep using the service.Render wrote:Paying 70$ for satellite TV? I always understood that for satellite you just buy the antenna and receiving the program for free... Or do you mean you pay hat for the encoded PayTV?Pladim wrote:Gotta say, when i stopped paying 70$ a month for satellite TV

Re: Chat Thread 41: Mod Maker
Starting Christmas celebrations on the 21st is fine, but 5 days with these lights on would to be a steep electricity bill.
Re: Chat Thread 41: Mod Maker
Oh Kit, you have no idea.
I have neighbors who have had them up since thanksgiving.
They're the fancy lights the light up to the beat of a song too.
I look upon that house
and shake my head in shame.

Lights? Music? 24/7 since Thanksgiving?

I can't decorate this house because it isn't my house and it doesn't deserve to be lit up with christmas joy. But, I think I might go out and buy a small fake tree and put it on my desk, then dress it up for Christmas.

Re: Chat Thread 41: Mod Maker
Remember how I said my widowed grandmother wasn't gonna do anything for Christmas since it was the first year without her husband (my grandfather)?
I went downstairs (the house has two floors and a basement which my aunt converted to a living space, my grandmother lives on the first floor and we live on the second) and she had a buffet set up. Either she changed her mind for some reason (since my grandfather always liked Christmas though last year's left a lot to be desired) or his ghost told her to celebrate.

Re: Chat Thread 41: Mod Maker
Same. I live in apartments that don't allow too much decorating on the exterior. Everyone has a small fake Christmas tree in their window. Looks kind of neat when so many people do that.Deske wrote:I can't decorate this house because it isn't my house and it doesn't deserve to be lit up with christmas joy. Kind of related, I have noticed that many people up here have taken to decorating small wild pine trees that grow in random places.

Maybe she got "Christmas Caroled" by the Ghosts of Christmas' Past, Present and Future.
Re: Chat Thread 41: Mod Maker
My house has bad wiring, so Christmas lights aren't really a thing unless we want to risk burning of down.
I'm not even sure the tree is gonna get decorated. I don't mind personally. I gave up on being festive a while ago. I do like the holidays for the most part. It's just that decorating isn't my thing.

Don't you think that you should get the wiring of the house looked at then?

That costs monies.

Give up on internet for a few months, that will pay for a electrical guy. Better then living in the street because your house burned down.Seth wrote:That costs monies.

Re: Chat Thread 41: Mod Maker
Depending on the size of the house and what's actually wrong, a few months of internet may not even be enough. Heck, age could affect it too if local code has changed and things have to be added/changed beyond what's wrong. You can't see wiring behind the walls, so to find and fix stuff may end up being a huge project with tearing out drywall and things like that.
But I do agree it should get looked at and fixed if possible.

Holy moly, I haven't been on this forum in FOREVER~ XD HELLO EVERYONE! 83
Sorry I disappeared for so long, I most certainly didn't forget about the comic (I've still been reading that constantly XP) but for some reason I just decided to abandon this forum for..... reasons? I dunno, It's been 8 months since I was last here and 13 months since I was truly active, so who knows what I was doing *shot*
You can thank Sleet for dragging me back here, I completely forgot about this place until he skyped me and it all came back, thought I might check in and see how this forum's decent into insanity has been going. By all outward appearances, it seems to go well ;P
Sorry if none of you remember me X3 TheMobian, the giver of form and life to the almighty Fino (I drew that silly design of his). Again, sorry I've been gone so long, but I'm glad to at least be back to chat with what old friends are still hanging about X3 Hope y'all are still doing good ^_^
Also, on another note, do any of you know if it's possible to change one's name on the forum? A lot has happened in 13 months, and I've been going by a new alias, so I'd much like to change it to that X3
Cheers y'all Fino followers, good to be back, and merry Christmas!~ *throws moon pizza to everyone*

Not many of us newer forumites know who Fino is (unless they took the the time to read through the comments under the old comics like I did). You may have to proselyte the awesomeness of Fino.
Douglas isn't my real name, but because of a name block put on me by a higher-order being known as Djinni, I can't say my real name.

Welcome back, Mobian!
Us regular forumites can't change our names but Diss or Rick can definitely do that for you so drop them a line.
As to the level of insanity of the forums, well it's well past insane! After all, I got made a mod.
Merry Christmas, everyone!

Re: Chat Thread 41: Mod Maker
Substantial bribes and much flattery.
Just kidding. You have to be an active member of the community, particularly in the section you want to mod, you have to have a good understanding of the rules and a good track record for following them, and perhaps most importantly there has to be a need for a new mod. It helps to try to be friendly and polite too.

Re: Chat Thread 41: Mod Maker
Mods are generally put up for a vote by the general forum population too just to make sure everyone approves.
If there's more than one good choice, they'll get put in a poll and the winner takes the position. If there's only one, a poll will be had to see if the general public approves of the choice.
Also, Global mods are usually chosen from the section mods. No direct promotions.

For the longest time Diss was only a global. Diss was finally made an admin so he could do stuff (like change names or promote new mods) without having to bug Rick. I don't see that position opening up any time soon.

Fino is the evil one.
Douglas Collier wrote:So what does it take to be made a mod?
Historically, moderators were selected based on activity and community contributions. Rick wanted to democratize the process, so an election format was chosen. Sometimes, only one candidate is nominated and the election is merely confirmation. A few individuals were drafted without community input based on need or merit.

That promotion was very special for me.

Well from what I hear;Douglas Collier wrote:So what does it take to be made a mod?
You first must cross the chasm of eternal suffering, to do that you must answer these questions three from the bridge master.
1. What is your favorite color,
2. how long has Housepets! been a comic
3. What are the names of every single current moderator (real life names, no asking and one try).
Then you must walk through the peaceful valley of daisies, afterward you must defeat Pete in a game of his choosing.
It is a rather vigorous process. especially going through the very harmless valley of daisies.
