Piper makes a darn motion, bouncing her fist off the air in front of her, and continues in her attempts to distract Pyre while chatting to Lucky.

Flynn is taken aback by Nadia's cold answer and the twitch of his ears might show this. He decides not to press the point though, instead turning back to Koa.
"And how's your leg after all that walking this morning, Koa? What did you get up to after you disappeared, by the way?" His ear tilts towards the sound of Faust's stomach.
"Heh. Let them eat before they die of starvation, guys." he jokes.

Pyre noticed something out of the corner of his eye and turned and saw a red laser dot. As soon as he looked at it, it moved. Pyre kept his focus on the dot, completely forgetting about Piper and the ruler.

Koa approaches the table and sprinkled a bit of the herb onto Kilos food. And takes a look at Flynn. "You mean when I was all alone? I was digging in the boxes and found a jade necklace and a gold chain. And then somehow I was in a different area that I started and you were yelling my name." He then looks down at his foot. "It's fine... I can walk that's all I care about."

"But it would have been c-ruler of me to let you keep scratching because that would increase your suffering beyond measure." The doe waves the ruler, emphasising the words "crueller" and "measure", hoping the cat will catch the joke.

For the first time since he's met her, Flynn feels afraid of the Arctic fox. He's not used to this side of her and doesn't know how to react to the cool hostility. He turns to his lunch to distract himself but can't help but give a single stamp. Joan, noticing it, gives him a brief rub on the shoulder as she walks past, trying to comfort him without drawing attention to him. Opening the fridge, she fills a glass with milk and carries it to the husky.
"There you go, Blizzard, that'll take the heat out of those chillies."

Kilo's joke about meat does nothing for Flynn's nerves and a pellet falls from his spoon as he endeavours to hide the quiver in his paw. Piper, on the other hand, is quick to respond with another joke.
"Come on, Popeye. Eat up. It'll make you strong. Spinach ain't got nothin' on lettuce!"

Hearing , and seeing how Flynn reacted , Nadia knew that what she was trying to avoid was happening . With a very soft sigh , mixed with an even fainter sign of frustration and sadness , the vixen gently stood up
"Thank you Mrs.Porter , that was a nice meal" she said , failing to hide the feelings in her voice "i'm just gonna go outside and get some fresh air now , if you'll excuse me . See ya guys" She said , and headed straight for the door

"I... have to go too..." Leaving his bowl, Flynn hurries from the kitchen, a look of confusion on his face. Rather than following Nadia, he heads out the back of the house to his hutch, the screen door of the house banging behind him. Entering the wooden box, he pulls the door to and then sits in a corner, partially buried in the hay, and rests his chin on his knees, thinking.

Joan, knowing Flynn, decides it's best to let him go for now.
"What are you pouting for, Elliot? There's worse things in the world than lettuce. At least they're not making you eat zucchini." Ruffling the jackal's ears, she heads for the bench on which Kilo still sits near Flynn's lunch.

"Kilo's right, Pyre. All you gotta do is think of something else. By the way, can I sign your cast? I see a free spot." Piper points at the plaster on the feline's forelimb.

While the pets are distracted with lunch and with Pyre's cast, Joan leans on the bench for a quiet word with the mouse.
"Do... Do you have any idea what just happened, Kilo? Nadia storming out and then Flynn... It's not like either of them. You're more perceptive than most. What are your thoughts?"

"There is generally only one vixen in any given area - unless mother and daughters, of course - and even they're encouraged to leave the area when 'of age', Joan." He paused. "The instinct of the wild is to remove the intruder. Nadia fought the instinct and, thus, removed herself, you see? As for Flynn? I think there it was mainly just nerves and I confess I did not help with my meat joke. I shall apologise to him later."
