Hi Hukley,
Nice solution for 'Nerds'. I didn't even realize 'Nerds' are a type of candy, never saw them in Europe. I think 'Flasche' is good equivalent in the German language. For the other languages, like Dutch, this will be a hard one to translate. I haven't got any idea yet.

Thanks ^^ Yeah it was more a coincidence because I and Render were joking about a good translation for that pun And yes, before this comic I never heard about Nerds as candy either
Heh, when there's no fitting translation then take the English words and make a note

Re: German Translation (Arc 65 - now)
Yes, that would be a last resort. Use an asterisk and a footnote, or something like that. But I think I will put some effort into avoiding that, trying to save my 'honor' as a translator. Otherwise I would have to commit harakiri over it.Hukley wrote:Heh, when there's no fitting translation then take the English words and make a note
No, just joking.
I have the impression the Italian guy rewrote the joke. My Italian is not very good, I can perhaps follow one third of it, but to me it seemed he used a creative workaround. That's also an option. I'll ask him how he did it.
Meanwhile, I do have some ideas for a Dutch version. The Dutch eat a lot of licorice, called 'drop'. That word opens some possibilities. I thought about 'katjesdrop' = licorice in little cat shapes. So maybe Karishad worked out a plan to 'drop' some little dogies first before he would put little cats on top ('d'r op', short for: on top). Could be funny, but I need to work it out to see if it works. Then I have to find out what the ferret (forgot his name) will say, annoying Joey.
But as I still have 1000 episodes to go, it will take some time till I'm there - Unless I decide to skip a few.
Re: German Translation (Arc 65 - now)
Heh, that's why we decided to have 2 Threads. One with the old translations (and we also still have a lot to translate) and one with the current comics (It's a lot more motivating when you're able to translate the current comics ^^)Sam-the-cat wrote: But as I still have 1000 episodes to go, it will take some time till I'm there - Unless I decide to skip a few.
