If heaven is what you make it, King just made it a bit smaller.

LOVE Fox's coolness.

The choice is called, between Dog and Man,
on the way up the stairway to Heaven.
Seeing his friend 'pfff' back as only he can,
Fox's calm is dialled up to eleven.
He's calm and he's cool; unflappable too,
taking these new things in stride.
Only one question comes, right from the blue
as he notes the size he's beside.
After being on the stubby legged adventure
who wouldn't want to be taller?
After all that he's going to fight indenture
and he wants to be able to impress her...
Their Bailey's the goal of them both,
to love, protect and defend.
From here and now, showing their growth,
until this game does end.

Actually? I don't think he is. I think that's just how people are going to see him whilst he's up there (including himself) It's kind of like the 'Holographic clothes' idea from last years Doctor Who Christmas special, where everyone thought the Doctor and Clara were wearing clothes and they weren't...

As soon as he gets back, we're back to Joel. Rather fast decision to turn into King for this, really. And I guess when you've spent most of you adult life around six feet tall, you would want to remain as close to that as you can.

That scene right there is why i love King. He has the upbring of a human and can thus project emotions and opinions most dogs dont share. Thats the real Joel Robinson talking through that muzzle, not the bitter jaded person he grew up to be, but the protective child who only knew how to give love to his pets.

But why does everyone look so serious in this comic?
King's got his reasons, but it's still a change from how I felt he was acting pre-stairs.
And in general, all three seem to be skeptical of each other (I'm ignoring the two extra Cerebus-heads. Right now they seem to be amused observers more so than active participants. Which makes sense, given the role they're playing at the moment)

I think Fox is just calmly waiting out what he perceives as a dream/nightmare so he can wake up in the morning, go to King, see Bailey safe and sound and say " King, you'll never believe the dream I had last night..."

For some reason the last panel reminds me of Kirk and Spock, maybe the way Fox is walking with his arms behind his back' somewhat Spockishly.
