I don't know. I hope that his avatar is Fox, but at the same time, it wouldn't make sense. Wouldn't he have been able to escape from PETA? But then again, he could just be commanded by kit. with no special powers or anything. Maybe THAT'S why Fox and King make such good friends!

Wait, why would the GM have an avatar, if we're going by vague DnD rules?

Unless he's more of a GMPC, which wasn't stated, I doubt the Great Kitsune has an Avatar at all.

Pete just had to make up him own loophole to justify he did. *facepalms* Well at least Pete can't do more stuff to King for the time being. Oh and panels 7 and 8, priceless. (Looks like Pete didn't read the manual on mind control aka brain override, lol).

Okay, I'm sorry, but.... if King's fate is to be as stuck as dog, then, I'm sorry, that's just tragic. As much as I would really like him to stay King, if it is by the cruel hand of fate, that's tragic. :?

However, I covered this on page 36, I think. And Pete DID just get summarily slapped. So I'm willing to think, based on the comic itself and other evidence, that Rick knows something we don't know. ;)

Well Kings fate is to stay a dog for now (which does not surprise me at all) now once their game is over who knows he might get turned back or he might not want to be turned back into a human by that point.

But he says in panel 2 that he plays in their universe, which would imply that he has an avatar of some form. So I would vote on him being a GMPC.

I wasn't surprised either, it's too soon. Really not much of a human life to go back to, anyway, he just doesn't realize it yet. And I HOPE he does choose to stay.

However, what I meant was that this arc might leave him in a worse place than he was before, like out on the street. But again, I am TRUSTING Rick not to do something that horrible.

I don't think it's that tragic, unless he still has to put up with Pete, since while I don't belong to the "animals have it better than we do" crowd, pets seem to have a pretty sweet deal in this universe at least. Aside from the whole part where you're unlikely to ever see 30. Thank God for comic book time!

Word of God states that the pets live about twice as long as their real life equivalents would. So reaching 30 would be like a real pet reaching 15, which is somewhere around 90 for a human, depending on the species and breed.

Don't forget Pete can no longer do anything to King or enter the arena till he gets an avatar. So unless he can get one before this ark ends I fail to se how he can continue to be King's owner. Which brings me to my ultimate question what will happen to King now. Will he go to the pound? Will Bill Jeff or one of the other owners adopt him? will the Great Kitsune take care of everything? Or will the worst outcome yet will he be turned back to Joel so soon.

I really doubt that Rick will leave King out on the street. What I think will happen is that since Pete is not allowed to manifest in the arena King will tell Kitsune that Pete not being able to come down will put him in a very huge disadvantage and will hurt him because he will be with out an owner. I think then Kitsune will let him go down but will only allow him to manifest as a human and not as his normal form. (If that isn't what Kitsune mean already because Kitsune could be talking about only manifesting as his Griffin form for all we know)

Edit: or I just had a thought King could be given a new owner It might be Sasha's owner and it would be a twist on what I and a few others have been saying that Joel once he was turned back into human would become Sasha owner. (this is kind of a crazy theory but it would make sense if the Kitsune is Sasha.) but I think my first theory is more likely

Under any other circumstances I would say that leaves King in the same sad place he's been. But he also can't do anything more to King now, so I'd take that, maybe (and if he DOES, King can always sic Dragon on him. But, trading one abusive owner for another? Really? I'd see him being adopted by Bill, and that would be REALLY uncomfortable. But at least he'd have Fox. :)

Well him being owned by Sasha's owner was more of a really crazy off the wall theory then a serious theory. And I like him being owned by Bill better anyway but I still think my first theory is more likely.

Time to keep a look out for pets with red eyes, that's the only sure way to find out who (if anyone) is the GM's avatar.
I'll also mention that King was adorable in the 7th panel.

Of course! (S)he's the first fox (or fox-like thing) to appear in multiple strips, after all. :3

I'd find it very amusing if we got to see his/her mom. Or is that a stereotype Rick doesn't want to perpetuate?

On another note, I should say: while there are times I can appreciate being jerked around, made to to think a character's story had one theme, when it had another, that time is not now. I'm a little disappointed. However, if Rick has something BETTER in mind, that's okay. Knowing him (and I don't), he USUALLY does. :P

[facetious] Also, does it seem like Rick's written himself into a corner here? Either the arc ends with all this intact and people who are weirded out get mad, or it's a BIG cop out, and MORE people get mad. He can't win! ........................ Or CAN he? :P [/facetious]

Say hi to your pointy bushes from all of us, Rick! :P (I'm joking!!)

Also, now that I'm looking at those pics of cartoon characters, I realize I didn't see any of those cartoons.
