I almost want both of these to be true at the same time, assuming that no matter what his arm was going to have come off.

Well at least in the first story it would be possible for him to lose his whole arm from it. I doubt a sink garbage disposable could destroy an arm enough to have them chop it all off.
Re: 2014/03/14 - Armless Fun
I'm going to go with the garbage disposal story
Re: 2014/03/14 - Armless Fun
so looks like this is an arc about stories? *gleams at Maxwell's ear* =D

Hm, it could be either of these, or a more likely unknown third option. It could also become a recurring joke in housepets that whenever someone says "Now there's a tale worth telling!" that they don't even know it, which could also be fun.

Man, we should totally come up with some crazy stories about his arm.Sleet wrote:♪Garbage disposal, what a way to go...♪

Karishad had/has a crazy-off with Kevin and Sasha sometime in the future which tore/tears a hole in the fabric of time, right where 'Eight Finger Discount' Jack was. Does it get any crazier than that?GameCobra wrote:Man, we should totally come up with some crazy stories about his arm.Sleet wrote:♪Garbage disposal, what a way to go...♪

I dont know for you, but for me it sounds more painful losing it in a garbage disposal than in an epic fight ... Way more painful

While I was growing up in the late 80s/early 90s, my Parents and Aunts had this weird thing where they would say 'So whaaaaaaat's the stoooooooory?' And 'Thaaaaaat's the stoooooooory!' In this odd deliberate way. I had no idea what they were referring to until a few years ago when I found this on YouTube - http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=TmZ7EyYWAZg I guess this ad was run so much that it became the 70s equivalent of a meme.

Re: 2014/03/14 - Armless Fun
What's weird is that the main thing I took away from this strip is that the garbage disposal story actually cannot be true since his arm was severed at the shoulder.
Re: 2014/03/14 - Armless Fun
"Woodland critters" is not exactly how I would refer to the creatures trying to kill him there...
Re: 2014/03/14 - Armless Fun
Hmmm... Nah, Karishad would be more than likely be the lead singer of a band with them two. And I hear he has a lovely singing voice.Hedronal wrote:Karishad had/has a crazy-off with Kevin and Sasha sometime in the future which tore/tears a hole in the fabric of time, right where 'Eight Finger Discount' Jack was. The tale of the arm that was lost,
is a fanciful one told in the night;
a tale of beast and fang and war;
a warning that heroes incur cost.
It has nothing to do with waste disposal
so ignore her with the wedding knuckledusters,
She's the one with the fanciful notions
but I'm the one that fought their evil proposal.
I saved her then so she can stab me now,
That's my take on the action anyway
Elaine will tell you different coz that's her way.
To downplay me coz she's a cheeky old so.....oh, hello my love... heh, heh...
To tell the truth. Love? Take a bow.

Considering that he was already half-armed when they moved in to civilization, I think the animal-battle one is more possible. Because a wolf, who was not yet civilized, can't contact a disposer.

The 2nd story can't be true because he lost his arm before he started living in a house

The flesh of my thumb is mangled. Nowadays when someone asks why, I inevitably reply, "I killed a man with THIS thumb." (Anyone get the reference?). It sounds much better than, "I was careless using a table saw."
The story has changed over time of course, and I am sure Jack's has as well.

I think you're right, but still the question is which story ist better:Welsh Halfwit wrote:The joke here, I believe, is that neither of the stories has any basis in truth what-so-ever. She interrupted his story with another is all.
The epic story about the epic fight of epic Jack
or
The not so epic story about how "two arms" Jack learned not to shove his arm into the garbage disposal
.....man I can't decide it....
Re: 2014/03/14 - Armless Fun
Would be really interesting know how Jack lost his arm, but he started with a so epic story to don't sounds so real, indeed. Practically impossible lost an arm in that way... It's not nice joke on a such tragedy, Elaine, but Jack almost called for it. Bad, "Darth Vader Sanchez" isn't happy of it.
For a moment I red "GRAPE" "GRAPE" written on the wall. The vacuum and the tail? Apparently Jack's tail got an accident too, despite less worse.
Interesting story arc, though.

I cannot wait to hear the stories to come from this arc. Should be a very enjoyable experience!
Is that a squirrel? I thought it was a bear. Eh, whatevs. I'll believe Big Squirrely I guess.
Are yellow eyes common in this universe? Jack and all the woodland critters pictured have them.
