Fleas can jump up to 48cm lengthwise and 20cm high. If we could jump like a flea, we would be able to jump from street level to the 70th floor of an office building!

Despite the fact that the sun forms 99.8 percent of the mass of our solar system, in terms of the total volume of the solar system, it forms less than a trillionth of one percent!
And believe it or not, below is the most detailed image we have to date of the entire surface of Pluto!
Because it's so distant, getting a clear image of Pluto is like trying to see the markings on a soccer ball from 40 miles away!

In 1958, the Detroit Lions traded star quarterback Bobby Layne to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Layne responded to the trade by supposedly saying that the Lions would "not win for 50 years". For the next 50 years after the trade, the Lions accumulated the worst winning percentage of any team in the NFL. The Lions were 1-10 in eleven postseason appearances. In the last year of the supposed curse, 2008, Detroit went 0-16 and thus became the first team to lose every game of a 16-game season.

Don't know if useless or even true, but at least funny:
Subway ticket machine in Moscow accepts 30 squats as its payment.
Can somebody confirm this?

Brent, it IS 30, actually, as metro ticket costs 30 roubles (~1 USD) (oh, also it says so on the machine itself ). And that thing is a part of a contest on "adding" sports to regular life. If it wins, there'll be more of these. If not - it'll be gone in mid-December.
Yes, that is about the best thing to write that I could think of.

Yes, it's true. We have that contest because of promoting Sochi 2014 Olympics, wich we've spent clearly too much money on, by the way
Me? I pay 2 200 roubles (~70..75USD) for a monthly pass on city's public transport (except for commuter trains) as that thing issues only 1-time pass, and it is located nowhere near me, or university (Vystavochnaya station - you can find it on the map, light-blue Filyovskaya line).
Count the price and validity of the ticket as a random information, I guess?

Ah, I think I remember this one from an article I have read about the main leads of Harry Potter. The actor, Rupert Grint, mentioned in the interview that he had always wanted to own an ice-cream truck and become an ice-cream man, which he would do after finishing filming for the series.Sleet wrote:Ron Weasly occasionally drives around in an ice cream truck giving free ice cream to children.
On another note, at the same time, Daniel Radcliffe who played Harry Potter, had mentioned that he was glad to be able to splurge more on one of his hobbies, which is listening to music CDs. It was also then that he had expressed his interest in performing in theater, which he have been actively participated ever since.

The 49ers also tried to use that as leverage against the Seahawks after a rather crushing defeat.Punchy wrote:Seattle Seahawks fans broke the Guinness World Record for loudest outdoor stadium with a reading of 137.6 decibels. January 10th marks the 90th anniversary of Columbia Pictures. The studio's first big hit was the 1934 screwball comedy It Happened One Night, directed by Frank Capra and starring Claudette Colbert and Clark Gable. The film was the first ever to win all five major Academy Awards, a feat that would not be matched until One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975).

I'm taking a class called CRTW 201 (Critical Reading, Thinking, and Writing). It's basically a class where you learn to think about your thinking, understand why you think what you think, and you to become a better thinker, by thinking about your thoughts. And we write papers about ourselves, our "experiences." It's a waste of three hours worth of tuition if you ask me.

Random facts about Sweden:
Sweden has been a military superpower. Back in 18xx King Charles XIII of Sweden died without an heir so the Swedish parliament adopted a french general under the command of Napoleon to become thew new king. They wanted someone that could lead Sweden in wars, but by this time Jean Baptiste Bernadotte, now known as Charles XIV, was tired of war and settled for peace instead. Supposedly he had an tattoo that said "Mort aux rois" (Death to Kings) that was discovered upon his death (but whatever this is true or not I don't know).
Some famous actors: Stellan Skarsgård (Selvig in the Marvel movies), Dolph Lundgren (Expendables 1-3, Rocky 4), Peter Stormare (Prison Break)
The famous Absolut Vodka costs more to buy in Sweden (where its produced) than buying it in USA.
Other than ABBA Sweden is famous for its many metal and rock bands: In Flames, Europe, Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy, At the Gates, Edge of Sanity, Hammerfall, Opeth, Sabaton, Soilwork, Pain of Salvation just to mention a few.

Non-reagent-grade lab ethanol is usually spiked with benzene to make it toxic. If it weren't, it would be subject to being taxed as a liquor and it would be extremely expensive!
