From my experience, Grape is off to tell Peanut that it could never work between them, possibly listing several reasons. = P Maybe she likes Fox? WHAT A TWIST!

Hahah, she could even be off to get Fido. Or, shocking everyone, Sasha.

Most likely, though, that first thing I mentioned. Unless Rick's just gonna give the fans what they've been wanting for so long. (I find that unlikely, though.)

The Grape/Peanut fans, I mean. Personally, this story arc has been far too close to my life story. *laughs*

So, who else thinks we should have seen Joey helping Peanut spy on Max and Grape? Anyone? There could have been a hilarious scene where Grape walks by their table and Joey, thinking fast, kisses Peanut to preserve his "cover." xD

It would have been amusing, honestly. i actually pictured Grape and Max though going to a cats-only convention. or even a cats-only restaurant, and Peanut and Joey going all fur-suit disguised just to see what was going on, and Grape getting the wrong idea when the time comes!

I like this outcome at the moment though since it's not so cliche however. but now after looking the situation over again, does Grape consider her relationship with Maxwell just as odd as the other pets?

PS: i will never surrender!

Grape doesn't know what Peanut feels for her. It's like you saying to a random girl on the street "it could not work between us, because *lists reasons*". It would make more sense for her to go to Peanut and tell him how horrible the date was.

I was really sure that Peanut will follow Max & Grape to spy on them, but instead, he's sitting at home, watching TV, eating his popcorn and wiping his tear with tissues that are named "Tish, You"!

I thought so since now, but the third panel and her expression now made me wonder...
And let's not forget she was much of a dog type before that darn barn cat put some peer pressure!

I've been in (too many) situations like this one. Trust me, unless Grape is a lot less clever than I think she is, she knows. *laughs* It's not too hard for someone to figure out you like them, especially when they're your best friend.

she went to the date because she felt the sudden urge to prove to herself (or to that barn cat) that she can hang out with other cats as peer pressure demands. And, for how much incredible it may sounds, she is afraid to open her heart as well. It must have cost even saying to Peanut she thinks him her best friend.

Grape went out on a date with Max in a desire to feel "normal." But now even Max just said that there really aren't any "normal" pet relationships! Perhaps Grape has come to the conclusion that she herself thus also has no need to be "normal."

What's about to happen next is up in the air, though. Can't wait.

Actually, it can be quite the opposite.

Max hinted to Grape that pets maybe unable to act normal. however, Grape doesn't feel like that's true. Her hint about baggage is a reference i would believe towards Bino/Sasha/Fido/Sabrina.

At the current moment, i would say the most 'normal' couples in the series at this point would be Max and Grape.

Yes it would be 'normal' if every pet did it, but that's not what I'm saying. There's a difference between 'normal' and 'contrived', in that the portrayed 'normal' relationship in the mind's eye is slightly contrived by popular opinion in societies; when, in fact, there is no exact definition of a 'normal' relationship, but that all this deals with humans. The point is that, in reality, animals don't share our idea of 'couples', they just follow their instincts. If animals were actual sentient intelligent beings, how then would their perceptions of love change? Would it still be a matter of instinct or human influence? Or something completely different? All I'm asking is that if the sentient animals were left to determine this for themselves, what would be the outcome? (Time to ponder... hmmmm

...)

Twig, take it from one who passed through this phase: do not over-analyze this comic.

Instead, let's take it from another angle: Fido once said that humans find cute such dog-cat interspecies relationships, and Rick said that there is no regolamentation of this matter. knowing Grape, she wouldn't go ask for advice to her 'parents'. Knowing Peanut, he'd probably end up accepting some wise words, since Earl and wife would notice his depression and ask him what's wrong (and Peanut's not much good at lying)
Would P&G's parents accept said 'relationship'? I think so: they know those two love each other a lot (see vet arc), and forcing them to stay separated would hurt them.

Wow, the tail-hugging is FTW

. Hmm... I don't know what to think about this anymore. Rick is evil. Grape is out there, eating popcorn, watching her (probably) favorite movie while hugging with Max, smiling with her head on his shoulder, and Peanut is probably crying himself to sleep back home. Well..... I hope something good will happen to him very soon.

Now that I look at it, I think I'll slightly change my mind from neutral to Max/Grape. They are a cute couple, after all.

a sinister scene that just popped out of my mind and needed to share with you (it's YOUR fault, rick!)

first panel: after the movie ended (and the Tish, You! box has been emptied), Peanut decides it's no use to crying over this spoilt milk.
second panel: Peanut goes to the kitchen to fix himself a late snack, passes near the front door, sees two familiar shadows.
third panel: Grape is givin Max a godnight kiss on his cheeck
fourth panel: Peanut is back under the blanket like it was a den. There are two Tish, You! boxes beside him and from the TV set we hear the 'it's so heavenly here' song from ADGTH 2.

Now I'm gonna go fix some popcorn myself!
