Halloween 2013
Since Halloween will soon be upon us, I thought it necessary to start a thread on the subject.
Put anything here you think is relevant to Halloween! Pictures, videos, stories, whatever.

Those costumes are awesome.
I'm gonna try to dress up like a particular author but I'm not sure how I'm gonna do it. :/

Re: Halloween 2013
I managed to get my costume put together really cheap, thankfully. I'll be wearing it to a party at my friend's apartment, and also to a Halloween show my band is playing on Sunday.

Re: Halloween 2013
I have no idea what I'm doing for Halloween. Probably nothing.
Don't wanna sound like a downer, I love Halloween, but I've never been really good at costumes, and I'm not feeling terribly motivated this year.

I'm not dressing up for Halloween because it falls on the day I'll be heading out to go to an anime convention.
However, I will be wearing my cosplay all weekend, so I think it counts

You need a wand.
I wore my costume to our Halloween concert and it worked really well! I won't be embarrassed to wear it at our Halloween party this weekend. ^o^

Re: Halloween 2013
I'm debating if I want to go out to parties with my friends or just try to get a movie night going with some old friends. I'm leaning towards a horror movie night. I'm kinda bored of college parties. Might need a weekend off.
I think in Non-sequiturs

Re: Halloween 2013
In the past I have found that another quick costume design like that is using eye liner or grease paint to go as Alice Cooper.
Here is my costume! I won 5th place at the Plan 9 Comics Halloween Party!
This is the closes you will ever get to seeing a actual picture of me online. And I am not that fat looking. That suit just makes you look all fun house mirror. If you are wondering what all that Russian writing is, on the back it says "Chernobyl Nuclear Power Station" on the back and my name tag is the Russian word for "toxic".
The read tragedy is that I once owned a actual Russian made gas mask but due to my bad eye sight and HUGE head I could not wear it properly. But, one of the shop's patrons was in the army and he told me about a couple of designs that can accommodate glasses.

Re: Halloween 2013
What's a Marti Gras substitute about it? Other than being a holiday that's existence is about preceding a Catholic holiday?

Donning costumes and going to town.
Extra irony points for the US celebrating nation-wide the one with the pagan instead of the Christian roots.

Its not irony. Everyone knows what it is about. Pagan or not, it is still celebrated.Liam wrote:Donning costumes and going to town.

It may seem silly. Dressing in costumes, carving jack o'lanterns, trick or treating, building bonfires. Its about honoring the dead. These traditions were started to keep us safe. On this night, the line between the living and dead can be crossed. The spirits of our ancestors come home to warm themselves by our bonfires and check on us. But, the unwholesome things can come too. So we scare them off with jack o'lanterns and with disguises. We celebrate the lives of our lost ones, make the last harvest and prepare for the coming of winter.
Remember to honor the dead this night. Especially at the hour between midnight and one. The hour that belongs to the dead.
