Ummm if animals can't talk in this universe how did they get to see the movie? Also since they can't talk to humans leaving Grape and Max alone is really kind of a bad idea, they could get in serious trouble.

Avatar taken. Sorry, I couldn't resist.
Why Max say "yo pescadero"? He is not the fishmonger! He should have said "Oye pescadero" without the "!" and using a comma instead. And just if you don't know, exclamations must start with a "¡" in Spanish. (and we don't repeat things that way as you do in English ).
Now I wonder, if they can't comunicate with humans, how Peanut and Tarot got that table with candle and everything? And worse, how they managed to enter to the waterpark last time?

Looks like Grape is wearing the hypothetical pants now!
And the question is finally answered, fish vendors do not understand animal English. Whether or not they can understand animal Spanish is up for debate.

I'm guessing Spanglish, where just that one word was in English. As for the exclamations, likely just forgotten.Gren wrote:Avatar taken. Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Has anyone notice Grape's expressions in panel one and four? Because of those expressions and the line "Max, even if we weren't quadrupeds...", I get a feeling that Grape is starting to get annoyed by Max.

Well at least the table looks like its just one of the crates with a sheet on it (likely from back there or the garbage) the candle and bread they could have taken from the restaurant (likely with Tarots powers perhaps?) Getting into the Waterpark wouldn't have been that hard (depending on how big it is) now how they stayed there without being caught and kicked out is the real problem with that. Its the same thing with the movie theater, did no one ever do theater checks? They should have been caught in between sets really.Gren wrote:Avatar taken. Sorry, I couldn't resist.

I have to admit that it took me a bit to realize that Grape stole the fish but that was good thinking on her part, and she clearly realized what was going on before Max did which I liked, again showing that Max isn't the smart one in the relationship XD
Also to bring something else up why exactly didn't Tarot tell them they can't be understood by humans exactly? They clearly had time to set up a meeting in the park later before they completely left (as Peanut said in the previous strip) I would think the fact that humans in this universe can't understand you would be pretty important information to tell them. I wonder if this was intentional on Tarots part for some reason.

I think it was. I think it's a 'RIGHT! You're horning in on ANOTHER date are you Grape? This time I'm going to show you why you don't want to do it again!' type of thing.IceKitsune wrote: Also to bring something else up why exactly didn't Tarot tell them they can't be understood by humans exactly? For some reason I find my mind replacing 'Batman' with 'Fish Dude' in the 60s "Batman" theme.

Even though I lost my knees,
my nose can still smell fish.
One thing I can give my squeeze
is some of my favourite dish
I take her to the fish market
and stride to a local vendor
and then I ask her to park it
whilst I ask for fish most tender.
He doesn't speak English?
How does that roll?
But I want the best fish!
I'll try Español.
She's impressed by vocab
but it's not for him
Hey, she did a smash & grab

Heh...that suggests a theory that I don't think anyone suggested yet....maybe they haven't really universe jumped, and this world and their new forms are Tarot using her powers like in the Pridelands Imaginate arc.IceKitsune wrote: Well at least the table looks like its just one of the crates with a sheet on it (likely from back there or the garbage) the candle and bread they could have taken from the restaurant (likely with Tarots powers perhaps?)

Back to the topic, even if Max's spanish isn't good enough, that doesn't mean it should be written wrong (remember pronunciation is not the same as punctuation). It amuses me that you did it well with the accents (probably the hardest part about punctuation) but you missed the exclamations. XD
From my point of view, in order to that dialogue sounds natural he should have said "¡Pescadero! ¡Conozco el número de tarjeta de crédito de mi papá! ¡Atiéndame!" (though I think I am being a bit fuzzy XD)

I'm assuming you are talking about my "with Tarots powers" comment. I didn't mean her holodeck powers, I mean she might have telekineticly picked them up and took them outside so no one would see them take them.GarrisonSkunk wrote:Heh...that suggests a theory that I don't think anyone suggested yet....maybe they haven't really universe jumped, and this world and their new forms are Tarot using her powers like in the Pridelands Imaginate arc.IceKitsune wrote: Well at least the table looks like its just one of the crates with a sheet on it (likely from back there or the garbage) the candle and bread they could have taken from the restaurant (likely with Tarots powers perhaps?)

If he did that it would have had a spanish accent, not an american one as americans who only know how to speak spanish in passing use. You're missing the point entirely: Max was speaking broken spanish because he does not know how to speak it properly. If Rick had worked on doing it properly, it wouldn't have been the same."¡Pescadero! ¡Conozco el número de tarjeta de crédito de mi papá! ¡Atiéndame!" (though I think I am being a bit fuzzy XD)

Re: 2013/07/26 - To The Market To The Market
I'm a native spanish speaker and I guarantee you that this word is not used that way in any hispanic nation (maybe you're confusing with japanese XD). In Spanish, Yo is first person singular ("I" or "me").Frank wrote:Actually, you're cool. It's "yo" as in "Yo! 'sup, yo?" which is a usage that is used in Spanish
Some valid options that could be used in this cases are "oye", "hey" or "che". However, I agree with D-Rock and say this is a case of Spanglish, revealing that Max's spanish isn't that good.
