Why would it go on Spike? Girls can read webcomics too.

I think it's fairly obvious it would be in a prime time spot on ABC
Commercials would cost upwards of $300,000 a second

Also, if it was a people's choice type thing, there wouldn't be much contest since a handful of webcomics hold a huge advantage as far as readers. Just look at TWC every month, and those aren't even the biggest.

Girls can also watch Spike
I mean, depending on the channels they get

Because Spike, while testosterone poisoned, seems more receptive to nerdery than a lot of channels. They host video game awards, for example. I think G4 is more likely though.

Yeah- A bunch of Webcomics could enter this list, and readers could vote for the comics they like. Then they get put in order of votes, most votes is first, least votes is last- hey, if it works, we could have new winners every month!

But yeah, snarkiness aside, a more formal awards thing with individual categories and perhaps even a physical ceremony would be kinda neat.

Instead of anything like TWC, it would be annual, with animated hosts, and categories.

I would. and the forums of each comic could have tryouts for who would voice the characters.

The weird part would be hearing voices put to characters. That always sounds weird. The only comic that's ever really pulled that off is Peanuts. I suppose Garfield had a voice in his TV Show, but I personally think it sounds a bit off, maybe because I never saw it as a kid.
shadowhaz wrote:I wonder who would watch it
*raises hand*
The main problem is most of the comics would be obscure to the audience since there's so many online- but come to think of it, that'd kind of be a good thing, spread the readership, eh?

the voiced version of slightly damned is fairly good. the link is on the site. though that may be because the author herself is actually involved.

Let me note that the idea of a webcomic award show would never happen. But I'd totally watch it.

Also, Cheerwine you guys. I saw it today and I always wanted to try it (it's kind of hard to find outside of the South) so I got four bottles. Holy cuss is it good! <3 You Southerners have it good.

i'll admit it'd be hard to find support, take a lot of time and effort, and would start with a small audience, but would it really NEVER happen?

For some reasion I find the concept of a comic award sho Very interesting. I believe that if there was a sufficient fan base then it would likely go over well if publicised enough.

the current top webcomic on TWC has had an average of a thousand votes per day. so it was at least a thousand voters. And that's just one comic. AND that's just the people who vote.
I'm not saying the number is HUGE, but a fair amount of people read Webcomics.

Webcomics as a medium are just unfit for TV presentation. They don't move.

I don't like many webcomics, and avoid webcomic awards like the plague. >.> Pretty much the only reason I cared when this comic got an award was that it added notability to the comic when people decided to make a Wikipedia article for it, which meant less learning the hard way that Wikipedia is not for vainly advertising things that aren't noteworthy at all and the forum being upset. Sorry, guys.

Foxstar, I think I've earned the right to be banned again.

Wait...

...what?

I was specifically replying to mathgrant, but I think several forum members really could use an infusion of self-confidence. Too many people think poorly of themselves without good cause.
