T.V just loves to get rid of childhood memories, doesn't it?
I hate T.V now, I rarely watch it. Mostly because most television shows on Disney, Nick (which SHOULD be called nickelodeon) and Cartoon Network have either really bad cartoons or really stupid sitcoms. And the worst part is that you never see any of the shows you thought rocked on the channels anymore. Unless you go to channels that air older shows like Boomerang, Nicktoons or Disney XD (WHICH SHOULD BE CALLED Toon Disney) Don't you all agree as well? Do you really want your kids to grow up with these bad shows in their childhood. What was a cartoon that you really liked and is now taken off the air?
Re: T.V just loves to get rid of childhood memories, doesn't
Disney has gone bad!!! I grew up on Little Bear and other cartoons, not shows like Hannah Montana that encourage being disrespectful to your parents

And what is with the sudden decline in animation quality? I remember when animators actually tried to make it look real. To me, Courage the Cowardly Dog was the last good show on any of those networks.

Also, what happend to pokemon mystery dungeon? It had like one episode! (and nothing happend in that episode!) It was the only pokemon show that I might have liked.

Well courage is actually still on. I never had much interest in it. I loved krypto the superdog when I was in like 1st grade.

That was just a special to advertise those games. Side games rarely get more than 3 episodes dedicated to them. Usually only one.Cwitt wrote:Also, what happend to pokemon mystery dungeon? Something called Cartoon Network should NOT have live-action stuff on it. That just isn't right!

There are three shows I still watch. Pokemon, Naruto, and Bleach. All of which are recorded and watched in the morning. But yea, TV is not much worth watching anymore. Other than those, I watch the News and that is pretty much it.

I grew up on animaniacs too. And when I read someone mention it above I remembered Freakazoid!! hahahaha
I can answer the question of why animations suck by the way. Computers do the in between animations now, half of it isn't hand drawn is the problem.

Wait, other than Adult Swim, what live action shows are there on Cartoon Network?
When I was young, I loved to watch the old Johnny Quest episodes. It seems the classic cartoons are always better than anything thrown out there nowadays.
Animaniacs were good too. You know what? Anything on Kids WB was good. I also liked that Static Shock superhero show, though it was a little preachy at times.

Heh, I still remember Fox Box. Those were good shows, too.

Somtimes I think you all are way to buried in the past. Time moves on and so does television.
I really like some of the new cartoons. Adventure time and the Regular show are awesome. What I saw of Robotomy was cool too but it was canceled in ten episodes. I don't like Tuff Puppy however. Its basically the exact same humour as fairly odd parents and after a while that really stopped being funny.
What else did I think was good thats not that old.
Camp Lazlo
My gym partners a monkey
Code Lyoko
Well I can't think of anything else right now its to late at night.

Yes, my family jokes that I was born in the wrong centuy, so maybe it's that my tastes are buried in the old Hanna- Barbera cartoons. Scooby Doo is my all time favorite cartoon show. That should tell you something.

That used to be my favorite. Any Scooby-Doo at all, including A Pup Named and What's New?copper wrote:Yes, my family jokes that I was born in the wrong centuy, so maybe it's that my tastes are buried in the old Hanna- Barbera cartoons. Re: T.V just loves to get rid of childhood memories, doesn't
A pup named was good, but What's new was lacking in the old Scooby Doo charm for some reason.
Re: T.V just loves to get rid of childhood memories, doesn't
Camp Lazlo was great, and I loved Codename: Kids Next Door when it was on. Same with Ed, Edd & Eddy and stuff like The Powerpuff Girls. But it just doesn't seem like most cartoons are really trying to be clever anymore. Plus, most of the animation feels the same.
I usually just stick with foreign cartoons now. Code Lyoko, Wakfu...actually, now that I think about it, France has some pretty good shows...

Re: T.V just loves to get rid of childhood memories, doesn't
Well, I've got something to add up to this discussion - what makes you say that the cartoons they show today are worse than the cartoons that aired years ago? You're not a child anymore, and you love the cartoons you watched before - of course you won't understand the cartoons that are aired today. However, I agree that Disney has gone wrong. Shows that encourage being disrespectful to your parents are wrong. Very wrong.
I grew up on Dexter's Lab, Ed, Ed, Eddie, Samurai Jack, Spongebob Squarepants, Kim Possible and other cartoons that I can't remember right now. However, I don't watch TV at all so I don't know if they're still on on some channels.

Good animation comes from actual work and effort being put into it, regardless of the medium.

As a question. Have any of you watched "The Regular Show" Its actually sorta like the older cartoons. The people who watch conist of males between 18-26 or something like that.

I've watched it. Needless to say, it isn't too bad; it's much better than Chowder was, IMO.

Sorry it's taken so long for me to respond to this, I've been busy. As for you question, I can say that most modern cartoons are not as good as old ones because I've watched them. I dare someone to say that Johnny Test is half as imaginative and cleverly written as something like Dexter's Laboratory, or even that great underappreciated gem, Time Squad.Alex wrote:Well, I've got something to add up to this discussion - what makes you say that the cartoons they show today are worse than the cartoons that aired years ago? Also, to others, just because a toon is done in Flash does not mean it can't be visually interesting or dynamic. Just look at the season 2 opening for Wakfu (yes, I'm gonna keep bringing that show up, it's that darn good!). It's incredibly dynamic and fluid, especially when compared to, once again, something like Johnny Test.

Regular Show. I think it's awesome because it's an adult-targeted cartoon that isn't much more inappropriate than children's cartoons. It bodes well for the future of cartoons, but not necessarily children's cartoons. I think the '90s were a better era of cartoons than now, but not by nearly the margin people are suggesting. A lot of that is nostalgia.exranio wrote:As a question. Have any of you watched "The Regular Show" Its actually sorta like the older cartoons. This might sound silly, but honestly, two cartoon shows that I really wish they still had on were Good Morning, Mickey! and Donald Duck Presents.
I know, those weren't real shows, they were collections of theatrical shorts--but that's my whole point. We need more of the genuine article from Disney--from back when Disney WAS Disney.
Besides, I liked the theme songs to those two shows, especially Donald Duck Presents....
"From the one and only--from the one and only...ONNNNNNNNNNNNNE!!!"
(Frankly I wish they'd go back to the kinds of innovations they did before World War II--"The Rite of Spring" from Fantasia is STILL one of the most awesome things I've ever seen!)
