Dusk smiled at Phi. They might have met a short time ago, but he felt a connection with the cat. Just like with Dawn... Yes, he would definitely befriend him! He didn't say a thing as Phi picked up his fish, but before he could reach out and take it, something dropped between them. "WHAT THE--" Dusk cried out as he jumped back, but then he heard Artmeis from above. He glared at her angrily. "Can't you knock, or something!?" He was angry that the bird disturbed the two of them, then he realized what he said and facepawlmed. "Guh! You know what I mean... Didn't your owners teach you to announce yourself before dropping in unexpectedly?"

Phi was just as surprised as Dusk at the bird's sudden return, but once that wore off he lapsed into thought. After a few moments, he turned to Dusk. "I've got an idea. Something I saw on one one those nature survivalist shows." He picked up a piece of bread out of the backpack, crumbled it into pieces, then went over to the pond's edge and sprinkled the crumbs in the water. A few fish swam over and began to nibble. Phi looked up at the white vulture circling overhead. "Oy! Featherbutt! Cats have claws for a reason!" And with that, his paw snaked out and he snatched one of the feeding fish right out of the water.

"Think you're smart, eh?" Artemis made to dive for the water once again... When the shrill sound of a whistle interrupted her and made her fluff out ther feather in shock. "What the..?" she said.

"Hey, you animals!" Said the stern voice of...a cop. A human in a blue suit and a very upset face, as he approached the fishers. "No more than two fish, and no cheating, That means fishing rods ONLY! This is a a public property, not a toy! Didn't you see the sign? Or can't you read at all?!"

Dusk looked at the cop. Great! First Tweety wrecks his time with Phi, and now they are apparently in trouble. Maybe he can talk his way out of this. Dusk cleared his throat and pulled up his best voice. "Good afternoon Officer! As you can see, we *have* fishing rods, and we have no more than two fish for each of us. But we're very sorry if we did something wrong, we're all new to this neighborhood! We don't know the rules yet, and we must have missed the sign."

The cop glared at Dusk. "Missed it?! Kitty, if you didn't learn how to read, don't try to give me--" whatever he was about to say, he found himself at a loss for words.
The human had pointed at the sign, only to find it gone! "Not again," he almost whimpered. It was the fourth time some unknown prankster took off that sign. ALWAYS that sign!
"Okay, this time you get away with a warning. Ayway, unless you hve a license, you must stop now. Do you have a license? And that eagle? Who the heck has a license for THAT?"

Phi felt the weight that had settled into the pit of his stomach when the police officer came over begin to lighten. So they weren't going to be arrested, or taken to the pound, or whatever it was the police did to animals around here? That made things a bit easier. "Well, officer, the eagle is actually a vulture, and I'm fairly sure that her owner has all of the necessary documentation." Which reminds me... He leaned a bit closer to Dusk and lowered his voice. "I didn't know we needed a fishing license, did you?"

The snowshoe leaned a little bit towards Phi too. "Me neither." he whispered back. "Lets try to leave before he changes his mind!" Then he cleared his throat and turned to the policeman. "Well, officer, thank you for your generosity! Of course we are law abiding citi-- petizens, or whatever... , so we'll leave without a fuss. Our owners are expecting us home anyway..." He started packing the fishing gear, and motioned Phi to grab the fishes. "Good day, officer and good luck with catching the sign-thief!"

Change nodded and started to make his way back to the bench with the card making its way back to his collar now that he was calm enough to think again. Then, something stopped him as another thought popped into his head and he looked back at the image sketched onto the the paper in his hand. "Hold on a second..." He turned back to Apollo with a questioning look in his eyes.

"You're an Egyptian dog, or your breed is anyway, and you're clearly going for an Egyptian theme with this get-up." He held the card to face him to point out what he meant. "So; why are you named after the Greek god of the sun?"

Apollo chuckled. "Heh, well, actually...Once, we were named like the namesakes we were supposed to interpret. But after a lifetime of playing a role and having that name in and out of work, well... Many of us started 'flipping'. So the law decided that the industry must allow us civilian names and use nicknames for our jobs. And that's why I'm called Apollo, out of work. I was born with that name."

"Umm... yeah. What he said." Phi scooped up the few fish they'd caught and hurried after Dusk. Once they were out of earshot of the cop, Phi turned to Dusk and let out a sigh of relief. "Well. That was close." He looked down at his slimy cargo and frowned. "We'll probably have to put these in a freezer or something, right? Want to stop over my place and do that?"

The officer waved distractedly at the two cats. He was busy inspecting the buzzard's anklets, and the tags. "Yes, you're legal. Damned weirdest pet I ever saw... Well, next time stop playing in the park as if it were your hunting grounds." He grumbled something else about leash laws and left.
Artemis was really, sorely tempted to dive for his back and leave a couple of slashes on that shirt... Instead, she took off and reached for Apollo. She wasn't just in the mood to appease that other neurotic kitty's social phobias!

"Uh...huh...." Change said; with a lack of any words in his mind, there wasn't really anything else he could say.

It was his lack of knowledge relating to thinks like emotions; he couldn't understand people having trouble separating reality from whatever fantasy they were suppose to be providing here, even though he spent most of his own time lost in a fantasy novel or online role-playing. It might have been slightly contradictory, as he seemed like the type of cat that would do everything in his power to escape reality, but he had his owner to thank for giving him a reason to stay grounded.

Joseph might not have been perfect, but Change was a lucky stray to have been found by the human; he was one of the few people in this city that hadn't been born here, so he had a different idea of how a pet should be treated. He didn't upgrade them to full on child status like some of the other families, but he did treat them as part of the family and not just something that's just... there.

He was reminiscing again; the dog was probably getting antsy standing there by now. "Oh; sorry, zoned out there." The cat said, shaking his head slightly to clear it out of thoughts that were best left for those nights he spent staring at the ceiling. "And yeah; I should get back to my book before Dad comes to pick me up." He started to walk back to his bench, then paused as his guilt flared up. "And... um.... T-tell your friends that I'm sorry."

Apollo nodded. "Will do, although you have nothing to be sorry for. And, well, it's been a pleasure to get to know you. Remember, just call me, whenever you want, whatever you need. See you around!" The big dog left, after waving goodbye one last time
He had walked maybe a dozen meters, when Artemis landed on his shoulder. "Welcome back, sis! Did you enjoy your time with the others?"
The bird scoffed. "You don't ask, I won't tell," was her only answer.

"Well sure, Phi, lead the way!" Dusk smiled. "Talk about a crazy afternoon, huh? We'll have to get that fishing license, or next time we'll be hauled off to the pound for sure!" Suddenly he facepawlmed. "Wait! Some of these fish belong to Featherbutt, she caught them after all. Let's give them to her before she decides to eat us for dinner instead." He turned around to call out to the bird, but no one was near the pond anymore. "Aw, heck, she flew off again!" Dusk shrugged after a moment of thinking. "Well, we'll just have to give it to her next time we see her." He grinned. "Lets go!"

Aethon watched a both kitties left the pond, wondering if he should have followed them, but shrugged it off and stood up and left the pond, sitting on a bench nearby and sighing, something had taken all of the energy out of him, maybe it was Artemis who had somehow demoralized him, or because she called him useless, but he usually didn't dwell on such things so it had to be something else

Genesis blinked a few times and looked at Bullet ''Who said I wasn't feeling good? :l ''

"Alright!" Phi pointed an elbow at the apartment complex across the street, being careful not to spill the fish on the ground. "First stop; my apartment. After that, we'll try and see about the fishing license." He crossed the street adjacent to the park, turning once to make sure Dusk was behind him. The pair made it across the street in time to see Phi's owner Henry hop out of the back of a moving van and pull the door shut with a clang. "Oh, Phi. There you are." The man pointed to Dusk. "Is this your friend?" he asked, putting special emphasis on the last part.

Phi rolled his eyes. "Not this again..."

"Because if the answer's 'yes', then I'm obligated to say that I told you so." A grin spread across his face. "Anyway, it's nice to meet, you..." He looked to Phi for confirmation. "His name's Dusk, Henry." "Then nice to meet you, Dusk. Mind if ask where the fish came from?"

Dusk followed Phi closely, until they crossed the street and met Henry. He smiled as the man asked Phi if he was a friend, but his ears drooped a little at the cat's dismissive reply.
"They're from the pond in the park." he said as Henry asked about the fish. "I invited Phi fishing, after meeting him. Funny story, apparently you need a license to do that..." He chuckled and scratched the back of his head. "Hi! So you're the famous Henry I heard about!"

Phi cringed a bit when he saw Dusk's briefly dismayed expression. No, wait, that's not what I meant! He'd been about to say so aloud when Henry began to speak again. "Famous, huh? So he does talk about me. All good things, I'm sure?" He chuckled, then turned back to the truck and began to secure the back doors. "Anyway, I can probably cook those if you want, but it might be a while. The silverware's all in the bottom of a box I forgot to label. And I need to return the moving van in..." He glanced at his watch and nearly jumped a foot in the air. "Well, I gotta run. Phi, lock up when you two are done up there. Nice meeting you, Dusk." Henry started for the drivers side door, then looked back. "Dusk... couldn't really have told from the tag, now could you...?" He looked back with a raised eyebrow for another moment, then hopped in the driver's seat of the van.

Phi shook his head slowly. "Sorry, he gets like that when he's in a hurry. Shall we?" He tilted his head in the direction of the apartment building.

Apollo turned on the machine. "I downloaded everything I could think of in this baby. At home, I got six other 1Tb external drives filled to capacity. And now we've got all the time to watch them! So, what's your poison?"

Dusk looked puzzled at Henry's last comment, he didn't really understand what he meant with it. Straaaange... He followed the van with his gaze for a few seconds, until he heard Phi speak. "Hm, oh what? Yeah, sure, let's go..." Dusk started to follow him towards the building, but he stayed quiet, still thinking about the cat's earlier non-answer to Henry's question.

Phi leaned on the front door of the building to push it open, then stood there to allow Dusk in after him. "Like I said, Henry's usually a bit more laid back than that. I think we might have just come in at a bad time. Anyway, he'll probably be back in an hour or so." Phi paused, looking with concern at Dusk. He seemed... different, somehow. "Dusk? Is something wrong?"

"Um... I... I am not entirely sure if those brick walls had any malicious intents." Keith couldn't tell if the coyote was serious or not. "But we would be most glad if you could give us directions to the zoo. Wouldn't you agree, dear?" He turned to Cerea.

(OOC: Labrador Retriever isn't a small breed though, so I would say Keith is only slightly smaller than Flash)
