Okay. First she calls him handsome, now he calls him cute... Dusk raised an eyebrow. It must run in the family. After Apollo explained himself the snowshoe relaxed his posture. "Oh, okay..." Hearing the Maine Coon's words he nodded. "Yeah, best not corner a scared cat. Hey Artemis, come down here, leave the poor guy alone before he gets a heart attack, or plucks out your feathers!" he turned to the others on the ground. "Why don't we sit down here on the bench so he can come to us if he wants to?" Now that he knew there was no trouble, what was he forgetting? Oh, right! "Um, hi I'm Dusk!" he waved a little to the group.

Artemis made an 'Aww' face, but realized it was better play nice. Dusk *was* right, after all. "Coming." She hopped off the branch and down on Apollo's shoulder. "So?" She asked to change. "Wanna spend the rest of the day up there?"

Phi breathed a sigh of relief. Alright. Crisis averted. Then he turned to the cat standing next to him and extended a paw. "Hi. I'm Phi." He pointed a thumb back at the black dog and white bird over by the tree. "You know those guys?"

"Is that short for Phil?" Dusk asked, shaking the cat's paw. "And if by know you mean 'met one of them five minutes ago', then yes. Yes I know them!" he said with a wink.

Change clutched his book to his chest like it was some sort of holy artifact; there were so many pets, so many strangers all around him. He closed his eyes, his tail coming to wrap around his neck again and managing to wrap all the way around; he was seeking any amount of comfort he could find to not lash out and do something that he would regret before the hour was up. He scuttled back when the strange bird landed on the tree branch, panting as his head started to swim and spots of black ate up his vision; he had to get alone, before he passed out and fell out of this tree.

"Go; just go." He said, clutching the book like it was a lifeline. He wanted to be alone; or at least... he wanted to be as alone as he could. His eyes opened up and he looked at the dog that had started talking to him first, what he could see of him anyway. He couldn't believe what he heard himself say, but he was saying it none the less. "He can stay down there." He spoke in a slightly sickly voice. "But everyone else leaves."

Apollo nodded. He clapped his paws loudly and barked, more seriously, "You heard him. gentlepets! Everyone leave now and let him breathe! Hup hup, before I drag you away by your scruff! And I mean especially you, Aethon," He added, actually grabbing the fox by the scruff! "You pretty or not, it was very unpolite of you, to scare him up on a tree like that! Artemis, you make sure they don't come near this tree, OK?"
The buzzard saluted proudly like a real raptor of war! "Count on me, mon brave! Major Tom will be coming home!"

"No, just Phi. See this?" He flicked the symbol on his tag. "That's a phi. I guess it's some thousand year old letter no one uses anymore. My dad's lame joke. He rolled his eyes. "Took me four years to figure that out, too."

He looked over at the cat in the tree once again, and felt a pang of sympathy. Poor guy's scared out of his mind, isn't he. His gaze drifted over to the black dog and white bird. Seems I underestimated you, big guy. Then, he turned to Dusk again. "Looks like your new acquaintances have everything under control. Why don't we we head that way.... umm..." His voice trailed off. "Sorry, did I catch your name?"

"But I thought I introduced myself just now..." Dusk looked puzzled. "Maybe you weren't... oh well. My name is Dusk Roscoe." He started walking away from the tree slowly, so Phi could follow him while they talked. He looked back every now and then towards Apollo and the cat. I hope they'll be fine.
"So Phi is an ancient letter, huh? No wonder I didn't recognize your name or tag then! I can't say my name is better, but at least you what it means, huh?" he asked cheerfully, but couldn't help and be reminded of how he got his name... Unconsciously, his paw reached for his own tag.

"My dad actually wouldn't tell me what it meant for a while. Whenever I asked, he'd just laugh and say 'figure it out'. Heh. Ruined that little joke when I found out about Google. Phi started after Dusk, raising an eyebrow when he saw the other cat fingering his tag. The significance of the gesture wasn't lost on him. At least you know what yours means, he said... "What do you mean? Your owner never tell you why they named you that?"

"It's kinda awkward we're moving backwards...", Crayon commented as he watched the floor as he lifted away from it. He felt the ride stop with a strong nudge as it locked in place for the moment. He quickly looked at Yukiko and gave her a very comforting smile. "Ready?"

"No, no..." Dusk shook his head. Gosh, conversing with other cats is harder than I thought! "I meant to say I wasn't named after some obscure thing!" Suddenly his eyes shot wide open as he realized that Phi actually asked about his name... "Tell me about my name?" he asked timidly, but then quickly grinned and waved his paw. "Ah but that's a boring story! I don't want to make you fall asleep!"

Apollo let go of the fox, then went back to the tree. He lifted his head and smiled at Change. "All right, now it's only you and I. And if you want to, I'll leave, too, if you say so. Deal? So, what's your name?"

Cesium's little aquamarine eyes widened like never before, he gave a little crooked frown and looked back to Bullet in a stepper motion. "But that's the whole point of the ride. Well more precisely it's to be spun around the air but whateve term we would wish to use the designer's goal was to make you experience the feeling of flight. Even if strapped to a chair.", by the time the fox ended, he was wearing his usual smile once more and he turned back the the front with enjoying closed eyes. "I don't know if this will help you, but if your afraid because you read about an accident in an amusement park before, you should also know that accident most likely happened after the ride had been neglected over thousands if not millions of runs. If you think back to what Rhani said, her father works here in the amusement park as an engineer, so I think it's safe to say that these rides are properly maintained. So relax and enjoy the ride. Just think about when you might be able to come to an amusement park again, why throw away your chance to enjoy it now while you still can?", explained Cesium as he looked to the park and saw how small the people, who usually casts their shadow on him, had become. "Wheee!", he yelled out softly as he raised his feet and threw his hands up in the air, safely cradled by the safety bar that held him in place against the centrifugal forces.

"Oh. I see now. Must have misunderstood." Ack. I've gotta pay more attention... Phi looked carefully over at the other cat. Something changed when he noticed that I asked about his name, didn't it? He tried to cover it up, but... hmm. Phi briefly considered pressing the subject further, but he had a nagging feeling that it was subject that Dusk didn't particularly want brought up.

Instead, he looked back at the other cat and asked "So, where to now?"

"Well, I'm new to this neighborhood so I don't really know what is around here. There should be some shops nearby, but I spent the last of my allowance yesterday, so we couldn't buy anything. The mall and the theme park are a bit far, and those would require money too. No..." Dusk reached up and cupped his muzzle with his paw contemplating the situation. "Aha!" He looked at Phi. "We could go fishing!" he said enthusiastically. "I have two fishing poles at home, we could grab them real quick and then head to the pond. Jane, that's my owner, said that this park has a pond!"

Phi shrugged. "Well, I've never been fishing before. And I don't have to be back home until... Henry had never actually said when he had to be back, had he? "Well, I've got plenty of time, anyway. Fishing sounds great." Then he glanced back at the fox standing a few yards away, looking unsure of what to do with himself. That one black dog must've really given him an earful. I mean, he kind of brought it on himself, but... Ah, what the heck. "Aethon, want come with us?"

"I could join in, if that's not a problem," Artemis said, landing on Aethon's shoulder. The raptor proudly pointed at herself, speaking like she was the Baron Von Richtofen reborn. "You won't find a better fisher than me!"

The buzzard looked at Dusk as if he had spent a vacation in psycholandia. "Uhm, bird of prey? No need for poles? Also, Dad got a pole for pets, part of the stuff he scanveged from our old business: Shimano Cumara Pet-1."

Yukiko nodded, returning the comforting smile with a nervous one of her own, "Ready." She said. As she said so, she got a bit more nervous than normal and scooted closer to Crayon.

Change's eyes were shut again while all that shouting went on down below. He want it all to go away; but the only way that was going to happen was if he just let the dog act like a bouncer and shove everyone away. Even though he knew this, he could help but envision this as making an incredible scene; a scene that would draw more and more eyes in their direction, bring more people here that he didn't know, bring him back into that heinous spotlight.

He started to feel light-headed again as he panted and clutched at his book; he couldn't pass out in a tree, not when he was holding onto a single branch. Best case scenario was that he fell and broke a few bones; worst case was that he fell and died on impact.

He continued to sway in his haze before he heard the dog calling up to him; and he shook his haze away to try and focus just on him, it wasn't as bad when there was only one stranger around. Still; he could feel his tail twitching its way around his neck in the opposite direction again, every little bit of comfort helped. "Change." He said at last, his voice slightly shaky and uncertain with itself. "My name is Change."

So, let's make another deal: Artemis and I will be your bouncers, your bodyguards. No one will dare to put their paws on you, not with us around! Hop-hop!" The black canine, standing in a plastic pose, jabbed and punched at an invisible enemy. then he turned again to the cat. "What did they do to you, to make you so scared of people?" He asked, with a genuine concern in his voice and expression

"Well isn't that nice for you!" Dusk said to Aethon crossing his arms. He remembered how meager his own allowance was and how much pleading it took to get Jane to buy those two poles for them... Right. Best not think about that. It seemed today was becoming a day for old memories to surface.
The snowshoe turned to Artemis. "By the way, I knew that! I meant we'd need a pole for foxy. Hmph! What's say you and him go get him a pole, while me and Phi get mine, and we meet back at the pond in say twenty minutes tops?"

Dusk's eyes narrowed. "Is that a challenge?" He pointed at Artemis in a dramatic fashion, his eyes shining with excitement. "You're on!" He grabbed Phi's paw and started to lead/drag him towards the apartment complexes. "Come on Phi, we don't have a second to waste!"

Dusk shouted back over his shoulder. "I thought a birdy like you could just fly up and find their own way around, but if that's too much trouble, the pond should be at the center of the park!"
Suddenly he felt the tug of Phi on his paw. "Oops, sorry about that! You okay?" He waited until the maine coon got his balance back before starting to walk again, this time letting the cat follow on his own. "So, um, are you new to town?"

Artemis was running on adrenaline. A whole afternoon in company of cats! She couldn't believe her luck!
She made it to her place in a few minutes. She landed into the garage, where she knew her father had put the fishing equipment. "DAD! I'm going with friends to the park's pond, to fish. Hope you don't mind cooking some, later!" Before the human had time to answer, she opened the closet and took out what she needed, using her wings. Then she grappled the stuff with her talons and took off. Luckily, buzzards were strong birds, but she was low on endurance, not being used to live in the wild. She had asked directions in favor of that silly fox, who would have to carry the fishing equipment for the rest of the run...
Also, she needed to keep the rest of her strength to fish: she was determined to impress that goregous cat, Dusk...

Artemis came back in time to see that fox...sleeping?!? How did he DARE?!
She really should have a chat with Apollo about his boyfriends' choices... For now, she limited herself to drop fish rod and tackle basket into his lap. "Wake up, lazy butt! Up and away, got big day!"
