Partly true. I hate the manipulative and meta-ness nature of the game, with so many 4th walls being broken in a more surreal way. But I do love the music, and I enjoy seeing what people do with the cast (in the Pacifist mode at least), fanart, AUs and the likes. I just prefer more traditional RPGs that know that it's all a game and stay within the realm of the game only.

Not really, I understand what you're saying. If a game can get you to feel for the characters, that that's a great job, but it pounds into your skull how much of a monster you can become. I just got that game, just faced off against Undyne and lost her in the Hotlands. I initially told myself, "do a Genocide run, get the worst out of the way, after all, they're all a bunch of zeroes and ones in a pattern." That was something a friend of mine told me whenever I lost a soldier in Halo, by the way.

Pretty much as soon as I started, though, I really came to love Toriel. Just how she was really got to me. Then came the battle against her to move on. I desperately wanted to at least spare her, but the option never came up in battle, so I tried whittling her health down and trying to get her to stop, setting up a pattern of attack and talk.

The last hit was a critical, winning the battle. I felt absolutely awful. I still killed just about every random encounter, but I ended up not wanting to kill Papyrus or Undyne. I don't know if I can keep up letting bosses live, as I still have to make sure I'm alive.

I'm really loving this game so far, but I also have a preference for standard RPGs.

TUBM prefers action RPGs over turn-based.
