What's Your Favorite Scary Movie?
*sits on his couch, a Ghostface mask on his head and a strawberry soda bottle in his hand*
Welcome to Housepets Forums Monster Madness! So anyways, the month of October has come, which means it's time for the Halloween season! And that means scary movies, horrifying movies, and terrifying movies! Here's a forum where you all can get together and share your favorite horror movies, suggest movies you enjoy, and over all just have some good fun.
I'll start things off, naturally. I love horror movies, and have lots of favorites. The original Scream has a special place in my heart, having just a perfect mix of kills, wicked humor, cool meta-commentary, and most importantly, great characters. Of course, you also can't beat the classics. Halloween is probably the perfect slasher. And Poltergeist... *shivers*

Re: What's Your Favorite Scary Movie?
and Nightmare on Elm Street (the original with Robert Englund) is awesome too.
Re: What's Your Favorite Scary Movie?
The originalAmmityville horror, blair Witch project, Return of the living dead, and the original dawn of the dead, can't choose one but those are my 4 faves.
And of course any cheap zombie movie.

Oh yes, definitely the original Nightmare on Elm Street, before Freddy became a wisecracking clown. Not that the sequels are bad, most of them have their good points, but the only one I would say is really comparable to the original is Wes Craven's New Nightmares.

Of course The Shining counts, silly. A movie doesn't need masked killers and high body counts to be a horror movie. ^_^ Hmm, it occurs to me though that I've never actually watched The Shining. I must fix this, and soon!

Re: What's Your Favorite Scary Movie?
It's a difference between FAVORITE scary movie and which one SCARED you the most.
In terms of the first, I don't know if I can really say, but one I've been thinking about a lot lately is Lord of the Flies.
In terms of which SCARED me the most, again, I don't know if I can really say, but one that stayed with me a LONG time after it ended was Misery.

Oh heck yeah, Misery is terrifying! I haven't seen it in years and I still get chills thinking about it. Probably because I'm a writer...ChewyChewy wrote:It's a difference between FAVORITE scary movie and which one SCARED you the most.

Re: What's Your Favorite Scary Movie?
I guess. I didn't remember what the title said.
and I don't know what movie scared me the most. quite possibly, it was the 1997 mini series of the Shining. I had to stop watching halfway through the first of its three parts. (this was in like 2000 or something that I watched it).
though that one wasn't really a movie, so it doesn't quite fit here.

That scared you? It didn't scare me.... In fact, I thought it was over the top, especially at the end, to the point where I couldn't take it seriously. That may have ruined what I could appreciate of it, but it certainly ruined any fear factor I had (shame because the book WAS scary to me).RandomGeekNamedBrent wrote:I guess. I was young. and it was that one green lady in the bathtub that scared me.
and I was over it by the end of the night.
other than that, I've never seen anything that left me scared after watching the movie, only things that startle me.

The very first Child's Play. It traumatized me of toys to the point of me just being able to sleep after locking them in a closet.

I read the book in like 4th grade, that scene with the lady i n the bathtub traumatized me for like 2 years. (couldn't walk into the bathroom without checking behind the shower curtains first.)

I like the first couple Halloween movies, even Halloween 3 which people complained about it not having Michel Meyers. Halloween isn't about him killing people, its about things RELATED TO HALLOWEEN! I also LOVE LOVE LOVE! Psycho.

Re: What's Your Favorite Scary Movie?
Halloween 3 is totally underrated. Yeah it doesn't involve Michael Myers, but that was the point. From the beginning the makers had wanted to make a sort of anthology series, each movie being a different scary story involving Halloween. Which I think is a great idea, because that's what real people do during the holiday, tell all kinds of stories. The Grey Wolverine wrote:I like the first couple Halloween movies, even Halloween 3 which people complained about it not having Michel Meyers. Unfortunately, audiences and studios disagreed with this, leading to Michael returning. Not that the other movies are bad...well actually...yeah, Halloween 5, Halloween 6, and Halloween Resurrection are all pretty bad, but Halloween 4 and Halloween: 20 Years Later are pretty good!

ok, you guys have got to see Paranormal activity 1 & 2, hopefully one after another.
Re: What's Your Favorite Scary Movie?
So they're pretty good then? I've heard plenty of complaints about them, and the whole "found footage" genre as a whole. You know the kind, about them being slow and dull. Of course, I've heard similar complaints about The Blair Witch Project, and I think that movie's terrifying.44R0NM10 wrote:ok, you guys have got to see Paranormal activity 1 & 2, hopefully one after another.

But if you're going with that, you might aswell see Grave encounters, too! It's amazing. :3

John Carpenter's The Thing? I'm sorry, I thought a masterpiece like that went without saying. I mean honestly, that movie is a gem.
