It does, but you would usually say that "there was a blackout".

Joy: Had an awesome meal today.

Sorrow: Apparently now that I'm 18, I'm more restricted in the things I do. Can't even stay out with friends. I don't drive, it's not MY response ability to shovel the driveway which I don't even use. And we haven't had a guest who drove in 2 years.

Aw man, that sucks. If I were you, I'd be sad that the surgery is in March. I'd want it the sooner, the better, but if you think it's a joy it's rescheduled for so late, I'm glad for you
