I like to think of myself as a furry.
Hey look a distraction!!!!

I don't think sanity is involved in this. It is just peoples personal preference. And as one of my favorite pictures said, "Dare to be different".
I don't like when I sound like I am arguing and angry, I just like stating points.

I wouldn't say that most furries are insane but I can agree that alot take it a little too far.

I take no offense to that, though it's probably not true; sane people tend not to be loud, and might not even post on the internet. Whereas insane people make sure you know it.Ebly wrote:the sad thing is that from a lot of direct experience

Yea, it's more like the insane ones force you to see them because of how loud and outspoken they are. It's like that and other organizations/belief groups where some will get up in your face demanding that you accept their reality while others are more open to friendly discourse/disagreement.

Re: POLL: So... Who here's a furry?
i use a colloquial definition of sanity versus insanity.
anyway, i offer you that i have spent enough time here to know that there are a lot of perfectly normal furries out there
and i would still stick by that there are a lot more on the other end of the spectrum. the silent majority isn't a necessary truth.
i suppose everyone has different experiences though.

Re: POLL: So... Who here's a furry?
That's not necessarily false, but you probably estimate the number of furries not active in internet communities (most of whom I assume are sane) as lower than I do.

that i could agree with
but that all depends on what your definition of a furry is
okay yeah i think this has all turned into a big joke to me now.

I think I'm in the majority, but I could be wrong, 'cause I'm not actually that weird, but then again I'm ambiguous about my sanity anyway.

As far as I know, being furry doesn't equal being weird.

I've seen what real insane furries are like and you, as well as almost every member here, belong in the sane category.Dissension wrote:I think I'm in the majority, but I could be wrong, 'cause I'm not actually that weird, but then again I'm ambiguous about my sanity anyway.

I'd rather be human than a squirrel any day (Not a knock at you Flint, my favourite animal is a squirrel and I'd rather be a squirrel than a dragon) but I still identify as a furry. I don't think it always has to include wanting to be X to be a fan of X.

Re: POLL: So... Who here's a furry?
In my opinion being a furry isn't about wanting to be an animal so much as just being into the fandom.
At least, that's what I tell myself.

Yeah seriously, hardcore furries have to realize that if they were the animal they wanted, it would be vastly different then what they think it'll be.

Well what if I want to be an anthropomorphic animal in a world that either includes anthropomorphic animals or is exclusively filled with anthropomorphic animals?
I think that's what furries who want to "be" an animal really want.

Yes, but who's to say that everything would be as it was just with Anthromorphic animals instead of humans.Senator_Sunburst wrote:Well what if I want to be an anthropomorphic animal in a world that either includes anthropomorphic animals or is exclusively filled with anthropomorphic animals?

Society would be much different, art, etiquette, entertainment, it would be drastically changed.

Maybe, but one shouldn't overthink it like that. There's a specific...I hate to call it "fantasy" but I guess that's what it is, that some furries have and it's that fantasy they want. It's all mapped out the way it is in their head, and that fantasy is a fantasy which doesn't include many realistic changes.

Well, I'd rather stay realistic then drown myself in fantasy.Senator_Sunburst wrote:Maybe, but one shouldn't overthink it like that. But fantasy is so fun, you can step outside the box some times. :3
You don't have to believe it but you can think it.

Re: POLL: So... Who here's a furry?
Personally I think the idea of such an arrangement is fun, but the arrangement itself would have too many complications such that if I were given the option to make the world like that, I wouldn't take it.
For starters, shedding would suck, and I would shed a lot once a year.

As would I, as my favorite breed is a husky and that's what I'd want to be.

Ah, I'm sure there are trade-offs to be had. Shedding may be a problem, but maybe I won't have to deal with acne! (actually, bad example, I don't have to deal with acne anyway :p)

I would live in a tree if I were to be a squirrel. No carpet to shed on. But it would be harder to find ticks and fleas. I am going to disinfect that tree immediately!

Not to mention foraging for nuts. That would be your life, foraging for 8 months and hibernating for 4 months.FlintTheSquirrel wrote:I would live in a tree if I were to be a squirrel. And no cable TV.
