Of course, the site only has its commercial value as long as Rick is the administrator. If he goes, the dollar value drops straight down the toilet. = P

actually people would because since this site gets hits you could put whatever you want on the page to get ad dollars. That's why old successful domain names get bought up quick.

Re: Chat thread
I've spent the last 4 hours on something a music board thing. I'm not quite sure what it's called, but they are in recording stations. looked like this.
It would've been a lot cooler if I knew how to do it and wasn't playing the music to a live audience. Did I mention it was my first time working one of those things? I was tought quickly by my music teacher, but still I messed up a lot at the start. Got better towards the end though

Re: Chat thread
I've done work with my High School TV Station, was really fun. I used something similar when I was Tech Director. That equipment can get pretty expensive.
Here's some images of stuff inside our TV Truck which actually beats some of the stuff Comcast sends out. It was real nerve wracking but fun to produce live(sometimes not) TV.
Tech Director Station
Camera Balance Equipment
Tech Director Monitors
I'd suggest being involved if your school has a TV station, though be careful with the equipment. Our camera's were ~50k so... there was a bit of trust involved, but it was really fun.

Wow. I am really impressed by your school's live TV truck! My high school doesn't do anything like that. We don't even have a real recording studio for music. To be fair, our drama department is quite cool though.
Still, I'd probably enjoy to be part of a program like that. I was working on the audio behind live singers for the school X factor/dance show.

Re: Chat thread
I was really lucky to be in a big school district. We have about 1000 kids per class, last year there were ~830 graduating students (the ceremony took only an hour). The only thing that gets more money is sports. We have two campuses, so the underclassmen are mostly separated from upperclassmen. The TV department probably gets the 2nd most money out of any activity besides the sports and that's because we film almost every game. Football, basketball, volleyball, wrestling, even swim meets.
It was really great going there except for the administration which I kinda got in trouble with, but that's a long story. That and they canceled our video game tournament that we were using to raise money for Tech Club by having prizes and filming it. It was a blast while it lasted. Lemme tell you networking 10 Xboxes separated enough to give everyone room took a LOT of cable. That and the table for computers, we had a lot of surge protectors.

Re: Chat thread
A gaming contest to raise money? Wow, that works so well. I've entered 2 gaming contests at my school, but they were for just for fun. I came to the semi-final of a wiisports tennis contest, and won the super smash brothers brawl tourney (Fox, returning to base).
Wait, upperclassman? Underclassman? You guys don't use key stage 3 & 4? You don't use year 7 through 11 to record ages (this one has always drove me up the wall. What is a freshman?)?
Well, ignoring that, the Xbox's must've been fun while it lasted! A shame not all of these things work out...

Re: Chat thread
Here's the US school system. I'll mark important years w/ ages
Grade - Age
Preschool - 3/4
Kindergarten - 5
1st Grade
2nd Grade
...
6th Grade (Jr High/Middle School) 12
7th Grade (Jr High/Middle School) 13
8th Grade (Jr High/Middle School) 14
--------
9th Grade (High School - Underclassmen - Freshman) 15
10th Grade (High School - Underclassmen - Sophomore) 16
11th Grade (High School - Upperclassmen - Junior) 17
12th Grade (High School - Upperclassmen - Senior) 18
---------
College/University (Same grade names as High School Fresh, Soph, Junior, Senior)
Its always weird talking bout school w/ people out of the country because each country does stuff differently, but you expect everyone to have the same school system as you do. At least I sometimes forget.

Re: Chat thread
It's kind of weird calling it stages. That makes it sound like some industrial process. Though I guess grades can be taken the same way.
And hah! Going to bed at 11:30, 1 or 2 am is gg-funtimes.

The Englanders system is so different.
And the years the same as grades or are they their own litttle thing on their own?
....
and I was 11 most of 6th grade, and one of my friends was 11 the entire time.

Re: Chat thread
It is variable depending on skipping grades and starting kindergarten early, I just went by how old i was when I went through each grade because though I'm one of the older people in grades, I'm not really that much older.

Re: Chat thread
That is true, though I haven't really talked to anyone out of the country since my last TF2 clan. There was a swedish girl who was really hilarious to talk to. I've always wanted to go visit Europe, but with the economy my parents definitely wouldn't help me and I don't have a job right now. My friend's mom works for American Airlines so he goes everywhere and I get so jealous. Every year he goes to New Zealand (he has family there) and a bunch of other places. Maybe I'll cross my fingers for winning the lottery which I would never play...Sleet wrote:I actually enjoy discussing things like this with foreigners.
