Re: Fursuits: do you own one?
I don't own one, and I don't care to. A good fursuit is, from what I've seen and read, a significant investment of money to make it/commission someone to make it, and time spent maintaining it. I feel that commissioning illustrated works of art that I can more freely share with my friends in the fandom is, for me personally, a better investment than a fursuit, which is a work of art that I have to ensure remains in good condition, takes up physical space, and have to wear to show off. Also, I live in Houston. It's pretty dang hot here for about 80% of the year, and don't get me started on the humidity...
With the right community, getting into a webcomic at the beginning of a brand new arc can feel just as enjoyable and rewarding as being there from the beginning.

I own one, but it's been in need of some serious repairs. It's about 15 years old now (I realize I'm showing my age), and has held up well. I'm hoping to get a local friend to assist in a slight rebuild of it.

You would be surprised. There are a LOT of people here that are older than I thought they were.
Re: Fursuits: do you own one?
Does Aniki-Cosplay Tokusatsu Cosplay count as a Fursuit? I have been looking at his service for quite some time. To get a ranger helmet as a starting point would be rather neat. If I could get in shape then I would consider buying complete suits.

Hey!
I'm still around. Now my 19 year old son is fursuiting with me and we travel to various charity events together. Two fursuits can fit into a Corvette if you are careful! Four, if you wear two of them on the way there.

Re: Fursuits: do you own one?
Yeah, fursuits always go into the uncanny valley for me... I think I might spend too much time with real animals.
It's not something for me anyway, the very fact of having to wear something to do it would kinda spoil the whole animal experience for me. No animal I've ever met has had to do that to be themselves.
...well, except hewmans...

Aww, that's so wholesome It's been great to see Tycho still going strong these, what, like 5 years? I was always wondering if your son would take an interest in fursuiting himself, and now I've just got the biggest grin

Re: Fursuits: do you own one?
We share Aethon, who is a steam-punky, greek-themed dutch angel dragon. Aethon is an old battle dragon from the days of the Trojan wars against the city of Troy. Ridden into battle by Ares, the greek god of chaos and war, Aethon was stolen by Ares from Helios, the sun god. Aethon was one of his steeds that pulled the sun chariot across the skies of mythological Greece. Hence, when you see Aethon, he has the yellow eyes representing the fires of the Grecian sun, and the tattered ears and wings represent his tragic use as the battle steed of Ares.Amazee Dayzee wrote:I kind of want to know what his son's fursuit is.

I'm sorry, Yes! That's him! This was in August at the greater Lansing balloon festival. We have a group of a couple dozen freelance Mascots now, and we all volunteer to help with events in making a whimsical splash at the event. We swap out, and work part of the time as handler and part as mascot, so that we all get a chance to participate and interact with the public.Amazee Dayzee wrote:Oh wow that is very adorable! I wonder how hot it would be to wear chainmaille with a fursuit partial. Cause i have seen some fursuiters wearing medieval armor.

It was taken in late August at the Lansing ballon festival, in Lansing Michigan. We've been featured as freelance mascot entertainers since it's inception and it's fun to meet people for the 2nd or 3rd year in a row and they say they come there specifically to see you!NHWestoN wrote:It is … and your friend is a charmer. Yeah, I know, right?? It's spooky to me too and I put him there The power of dem eyes! Lilleah West did a great job when she brought Tycho to life, way back in the spring of 2012. Tycho's getting pretty worn out though, starting to show his age, like me in real life...Amazee Dayzee wrote:Those blue eyes sticking out of that trunk and looking right at me kind of is spooky even though I know its not supposed to be.

Still two more years, and then residency! It'll be a while! :Otychoaussie wrote:A quote from page one, from March of 2012.Sleet wrote:I'd love a fursuit but it's just not financially viable at this point. Maybe when I graduate medical school.

Re: Fursuits: do you own one?
Including the university prerequisites... maybe.
My best friend has one-and-a-bit (I think) years of med school left before residency, but he also delayed his application in order to finish his Master's degree, which AFAIK wasn't a requirement to get in.

It takes 4 years after college to be a doctor, and then 3-7 years after that to be allowed to practice.Amazee Dayzee wrote:Doesn't it take like 15 years to become a doctor?

Which I guess was about right when I posted how long it took previously.
Assuming that college is 4 years, then 4 years after college and the 3-7, it would take about 11 to 15 years altogether.

I'm planning on starting a collection of Aniki Cosplay costumes. Did I mention I would have Power Ranger Suits in place of fursuits? I hide my obsession so well.
