Go for the one on the right. I depicted Dingerpeaje having a skull-like face to add the creepiness.

In that case, decided to change the ear color, so that it looked more like a skull. Any better?

Yes.
I based him on Gein from Rurouni Kenshin who is based on Ed Gein, a serial killer who made lamp out of people hence the lamp tag on the collar of a fake cat, thankfully not made from a real cat.

Well, strangely that's not the first time I've heard something like that.
Anyway,
New NPC. She could be the guide for the Australia segment. I'll see about some other time.
Re: Housepets! Tails of Babylon! * Developer's Thread *
Okay, got a few more.
Here we have Noah. An inhabitant of the Forest Village, could help in finding Blue.
Camille. She could be involved in the chapter involving Teox.

Huh... at first glance i thought one of the resident fan artists was making a cameo.

No matter how tempting it may be, as a DM I can't both present a problem and solve it.
Every time a DMPC or NPC fixes something a payer couldn't i'm diminishing and undermining that player's contribution.

Took me a couple seconds to realize you were talking about DryIdeaBat.
Dang it, this was what I was worried about. I couldn't think of anything to make her "believably unique."

Alright, got a new concept.
A guide for segments in the city arc. Not sure on the name, thinking Sam.

*Quietly cycling up on everything I missed since I last checked* Oh hey animal guides! Neat!
A Squirrel guiding the city parts. That actually pretty clever, definitely different from what I'd expect.

I'm curious to know what you expected. Also, you can sort of thank Bob Ross for giving me the push to make this guy.

It's your own little world. You can do anything you want. Maybe there's a little squirrel guiding you around the city.

Hi guys! How far along is the game? Is there still time to contribute?

Things are going kinda slow right now, but it's getting done. We have the skeleton of the story, but things could still be suggested. If you have an idea, bring it up.

Re: Housepets! Tails of Babylon! * Developer's Thread *
Cool. Can someone bring me up to speed by summarizing the story so far and what we have? I don't really have the time to read through 138 pages to find it out.

This is the current gist of the story here. We're also still in the process of assembling everything, asset, engine, and story-wise.

The post you just linked is so old it still has me on the roster, and I left over a dispute on how much freedom we had with the story...
That may be a smidge out of date.

Yeah, that happens when progress is really slow and the original author hasn't shown up in a while. Though I don't see why we shouldn't credit you still.
It also doesn't have any of the banners that were made afterwards.

I'm not much of an artist, but I'm a great programmer. Do you need help with the programming?

I'm sure that GameCobra would appreciate some help. I'll let him know.
Re: Housepets! Tails of Babylon! * Developer's Thread *
IT's hard to say at the moment what exactly kind of help we need, but we could use some help with battle animations for the attacks that i made. Helps me come up with more ideas for them. :3

Not sure, honestly. I like for us to have more on the team, but i'm not sure what we need in the programming department. Achievements? Event Design? Puzzles?

every game needs puzzles. they give you something interesting to do when the combat starts getting repetitive (which happens a LOT faster with rpgs than any other genre).

Sweet.
You know, this reminds me, should we have minigames? Something to change up the gameplay, like the casino in Pokémon. At the moment, I think the closest idea we had for that was the heavenly tournament, but again, that's just fighting.

We've discussed dog's playing poker before. I think we should definitely consider minigames, but we'll have to be practical about it.D-Rock wrote:Sweet.

Well, Dead Rising 2, a game about surviving a zombie infestation, had an unlockable Poker game if you saved the right people. It was stupid, but it was the only way to get the last part of the King Arthur armor set.

Pretty sure I could help with a cornhole game. As well as a few other puzzle ideas I totally didn't steal from LoZ.
