Exactly, so when an episode stands out enough to be called brilliant aloud, you know it's something special!Cwitt wrote:Aren't all Doctor Who episodes brilliant?naylorfan90 wrote:Just finished watching the 11th Doctor two-parter The Hungry Earth/Cold Blood. They were simply brilliant!

Maybe we should leave massive, story-defining spoilers like that out of here...
Anywho, I found an 11th Doctor graphic novel while perusing a Barnes & Noble earlier today.

Re: Doctor Who
The point to the spoilers button is so you don't spoil it for anyone. If they can't show self restraint, it's not my fault o 3o

Re: Doctor Who
but how are you supposed to know if it's a spoiler you know unless you look at it?
Re: Doctor Who
Perhaps we could give the name of the episode we're talking about?
Re: Doctor Who
Like I said... if it's blanked out, chances are you don't want to read it. Restrain yourself, it's not the end of the world if you don't get to see what's behind the curtain.

Re: Doctor Who
DOCTORWHO! (imagine that shouted just like The Doctor shouted "MAIDEN!" at Agata Christie)
I'm watching the show for several years already and I absolutely love it. I like all the doctors, I don't think they should be even compared, because, despite being the same person (fictionally), every one of them is different and that's why I like them. I loved the ninth, the tenth and Matt Smith is absolutely great as the eleventh one. Sure, you might miss the tenth at the beginning and find the eleventh weird, but stopping watching it would be a big mistake. Not to mention, I found ninth weird from the beginning too, as well as tenth, but now I like them all. I'm also watching the old ones (basically complete series since 1963) when I've got some free time, but there's a lot of them (it's not in the Guinness book of records for longest sci-fi series by mistake).
But not only I like The Doctor, but also The Master. He's so great character, so evil, twisted, energetic and ingenious. Of course the Daleks are great too, I'm always glad when I see them (from the entertainment viewpoint).
The show may be full of logical nonsenses, unlike some hard sci-fi series where everything must make sense, even though it's sci-fi, it's still explained very well and logically and follows some rules, the rules... or "rules" (and laws of physics and such) change a lot during different episodes so if you think about it too much, you'll find that there's a lot of things that do not make sense, however there are only two words to be said: British and Fun. Who cares that it doesn't make sense, the story and entertainment is what counts and that's what I love about the show. Of course, I enjoy hard sci-fi (that explains everything, even though it's fictional, to detail and everything is logical and fitting together) a lot too.
Anyway, did you see the Comic Relief episode The Curse of Fatal Death, starring Rowan Atkinson as The Doctor? Every DW fan must see that and you'll surely laugh a lot, because it's just hilarious... or as the ninth would say FANTASTIC! By the way, it's written by Steven Moffat.
After seeing the A Good Man Goes To War I can't wait for the second half of the series in Autumn, there's still so many questions

No but seriously, you can get them on Amazon.com. I have a copy of the 10th's, but only because the 11th Doctor's sonic screwdriver cost somewhere around 37 dollars.

I never could get into Torchwood. I guess Captain Jack Harkness didn't really stick out in my mind.
Re: Doctor Who
Torchwood is also wholly different in tone to DW, even the darker and edgier New Who. It didn't get actually good until the Children of Earth mini-series, though. There were some decent episodes, but the overall quality was uneven.

Just watched "The Pandorica Opens". Holy %@$# that was a heartwrenching cliffhangar! If that had been the season finale I would have screamed!
Re: Doctor Who
naylorfan90: well I watched "The Pandorica Opens" so I had to wait a week for the last episode and I can tell you, that I was starting to research a quickest way to travel trough time to the following Saturday
Actually there was much more of such situations. The End Of Time, Waters of Mars, Planet of the Dead, The Next Doctor, Journey's End (the fake announcement of Tennant departuring and lack of trailer in the previous episode).

I have to say, the eleventh Doctor is really growing on me.

I'd heard that an older **** died in the first episode, but I didn't expect it to be so...powerful!
