But Bino doesn't wear his shock collar anymore. Besides, Grape broke the remote.

It's a very entertaining image anyway. If you want to justify it beyond that...

Perhaps Bino couldn't take off the collar, and his dad forgot to - so he colored or painted it to cover up the embarrasment of being made to wear one.

The remote was either repairable, replaceable, or it was simply the plastic casting which broke.
But over-analyzing things is half the fun!

Hello! I'm new to the forums, and the comic in general. I'm really love this comic, I ended up staying up way too late one night to read it all from start to finish. And I like this most recent story arch, however, was anyone else hoping for a bit more conflict from Joel (or King)? I mean, he kinda softened up to the dogs really quickly, and now that it's transitioned to Christmas eve like that, there probably won't be more of Joel coming to terms with his new lot in life.

And I know that this is a light hearted comic, but I was still hoping for a little more conflict. Don't get me wrong, I am still looking forward to the rest of this story arch, and more of the comic, but that was just my two cents.

As for the speed at which this storyline has been progressing, it is yet another experiment with short form storytelling as I have been trying to make a three-day-per-week comic strip have story arcs that don't last more than two months. However, going just as slow as the year-long arcs of other comics isn't helping, as it means that the story arcs will feel incomplete. So I'm trying to pick up the pacing. It's a rather difficult balance and I think it can only work for some storylines, and less with the ones that require the interaction of more than three characters.

So here's the plan: for the people who think there needs to be a bit more meat on this storyline, well, you have a surprise coming up on Christmas.

Sounds like fun...

And because I cannot ever resist trying to guess (An old RPG habit I fear), I will now guess that Christmas will feature a major decision point, and then there will be some epilogue strips later on.

When rick wants characters, it's either in a flurry of Dogs or cats.

Or a massive zerg infestation on the street for some unknown reason. (Fido's fault!)

and we haven't seen enough cats since Summer!

Seriously, that one hurt. Now, we've seen Fox angry before, so I think I can safely say that this will end with Bino back, yet again, in the hospital...

Well, that's the trouble with having a past; the last mention of his being sociable with pets wound up with them "not being his friends any more" on the street.

It may be strongly to his credit that he was ASPCA at one point and was actually concerned about treating Fox unjustly in the PETA arc. Quite a lot of people probably wouldn't be after such experiences.

Wow. That was pretty powerful stuff. in a good way. At first it seemed like a harmless joke, but now gone off the deep end. I never expected it to be like this. And i loved how you made King's reactions look even with the catnip. it's really feels like one of those 'down in the dirt' kind of moments.

Also, the most important question is: is this the first time Peanut heard that kind of language? :O

It's exceedingly rare that I read a comic that manages to get a deep emotional reaction out of me. Congratulations, Rick.

I'd actually feel very sorry for King if he was a real dog. But being Joel in reality, who's a jerk, I'm actually glad that this is happening to him. It's what he deserved. So, in other words, Bino is doing the right thing, so Bino isn't a jerk >_>.

I really can't see anything in Joel's former appearances that makes him a jerk - although he was foolish enough to join PETA and assume that their plans made sense withough investigating them first.

Hopefully he (Bino) will be doing the right thing someday - if probably on the "stopped clock is right twice a day" system.

Wait... I think he read the rules for the dog easter egg hunt correctly. Right once a year perhaps?

But certainly not this time.
